Mod Q&A Thread II

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I've found that if you go through your pages & find a message that you don't really need to keep & delete it, the notification goes away...At least, that works for me...

It worked!!!! I am forever grateful to you, my mouth was hanging open for about ten seconds, that is amazing!

why am I so bored?
I was told as a child that boredom is the mark of an uncreative mind. I, however, do not hold to that. I do, on the other hand, think that boredom is the mark of an unstimulated mind. Basically that means you are bored because you have nothing to occupy your attention right now.

I got an ipod touch today to replace my old ipod...I'm using it to type this right now!

This thing is way too awesome for words...

I did the same thing for my son after he laundered his iPod, which had become his third hand. He was morosely facing the lengthy period it would take to save up to replace it, and I had a little extra in the account that month, so I bought him an iPod Touch. Had I known that it was, essentially, a handheld wireless computer that happened to play music, I might have gone for the old style iPod - I think it's been too much of a distraction for him at time. It doesn't help that his school has wireless coverage throughout - talk about classroom distractions!

I have a question, and this isn't directed at anyone in particular but...

Is it okay for the mods to have the same attitude as members in some things? i.e. religious discussions? Now, I've always looked up to the mods, but lately, I've been disappointed in how the mods have acted with the members. I think, as I said in the Christian movies thread, that this is sort of a problem.

I have a kinda odd question thats been bothering me.
I have always assumed TDL was a Christian forum..but the longer I'm here, the more I wonder about it.I know there is a Christian forum, but it seems like a lot of the threads are very aethistic at times.
I'm not criticizing..I'm just wondering.:(
Is it any religion? Is religion okay on here?
In the Socratic Club there are threads opened for all manner of discussion. Though C.S. Lewis was Christian, he discussed a lot of things with a lot of people. The courteous exchange of ideas of all forms assists the search for truth, which is always a good thing.

There's a whole section of the forum (Christianity and Narnia) devoted to explicitly Christian discussion. And, since there are lots of students of CSL around, much of the discussion in other places is infused with Christian thought. But one need not be Christian to belong, nor must one advocate a Christian position to discuss things.

Quick question..The forum always allowed me up to 4 pictures in my signiture as long as their combined size was under 500 x 250.
Now (as of this afternoon) it won't let me put in more than one,no matter how small the pictures are,not even 2 smilies in my sig.:(
Is there a reason for this?

That's something even we haven't figured out. Sometimes the software will allow you more than one image, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't know if this question has been asked before, but its been nagging me for-ever.

When in RP will we be able to play another character in 'Let it snow' and 'Silver & soveringins'?

Right now we get one character per game right? When does that expand to two?

Would it be possible to disallow certain of the mods sharing views with certain of the members? i.e.: I'm Catholic. PotW is Catholic. Therefore we have much the same attitude in most religious discussions. I fail to see how it would be possible to correct this, if indeed it is a problem.

Or did you mean something else?

Try stitching them together?

Actually, I have no problems with people sharing their different views and opinions (because I disagree with the CAtholics on a number of issues and beliefs) but there is a better way to go about it. PrinceOftheWest, as a mod, was quite biting in his response to a younger member, Truman. I'm not saying either was in the wrong or the right, because I don't know the extent of the situation, but what I've seen really disappointed me in the mods. It seems like one side is defended more than the other.

The way to correct this is to contact that person via PM, set them straight about what they're talking about (if they're not saying things that are factual or correct) and leave it at that. You don't have to go around defensively because someone doesn't agree with you; that's not the point of this forum.

I would just like it if the mods would consider their responses more before they post them. How are you coming across? Will this get your point across firmly but kindly? Can you articulate what you believe clearly without getting defensive?

The members should respect the mods. But it's hard to respect an adult who is acting on the same level as a 12 year old or younger. This little incident has made me lose respect for the mods.

THat's different. A member who is 12 or 13 doesn't always have the same maturity as a 30 year old adult. and that's not an insult or a slam; it's just a fact because kids don't have maturity when they're young. It comes with experience and time. But an adult shouldn't throw any kind of hissy-fit in public; it makes them look immature and petty, IMO.
