Mod Q&A Thread II

Also, you may have noticed, even 'invisible' members can't hide completely from non-mods. On the "Who's Online" page, even if you can see only, for instance, six usernames and their activities, it still says "7 members online." So it takes a little bit of deduction and Hoosier ingenuity to figure out who the 'invisible' member is.

Makes for a fun game.

"Who is the INVISIBLE MEMBER??" Dun Dun DUNNNN!"

It's not really that hard if they're posting; just go to "recent posts" and see which one of the members who's posted recently isn't on the "who's on now" list.

It gets harder when they're lurking, though.

So the user profiles have been completely updated, complete with this visitor-message, friends, photo albums whatnot, but......... the limit for PMs is still only fifty?

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but... mehhhhhh?

Sorry, that's a limitation of the forum software - I don't think we can change it. I think the presumption is that the forum isn't the venue for heavy duty messaging and archiving. If you're doing that much messaging, you should use an appropriate tool, like e-mail.

Is there a 4-smiley limit on PM's?

Not last time I checked.

And what's a user note?

They're kind of like private messages, only they last forever. Oh, and you can't read them after you post them. It's like a little thread that anybody can post in but nobody can read, except for one person.

And you can edit your own user note, which is kinda weird.

Subscribing to a Thread?

Hi, I'm a new member and I was wondering, how do I go about subscribing to a particular thread? I mean, how do I receive the emails in my inbox whenever there is a new post?

If you go up to the top of the thread, there should be a drop-down menu titled "Thread Tools". Click that and click "subscribe to this thread" on the drop-down menu. That should get you set.

Someone mentioned the quote threads, so I did a quick search, and here they are:

searched all quotes thread, none are really confined to Narnia, but there are a few for C.S. Lewis:

http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22873

and while someone is merging quote threads, it may be a good idea to do something about these:

Books and Movies: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24359
Quotes and Sayings: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21663
Love Quotes?: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24596
Movies: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22343
Books: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22630
QUote of the Day: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18898
Funniest quotes: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5719

Lord of the Rings: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23751
Dr. Suess: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23637
Pirates 3: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18575
Real Life Funny QUotes: http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27651&highlight=quotes

I suppose it's better not to merge those with specific topics (Dr. Suess!), and I am strongly against merging the "real life" quotes, but I figured I ought to post it just to be fair.

Hey, you mods out there!

I've just been re-glancing through all those TDL intro threads (Enter the Wardrobe), and I noticed that almost every single one told the reader to PM holyboy if he/she had a question....

considering that hb has been gone for such a long time, perhaps some of the threads ought to be updated?

And I also want to ask, how often do you mods really check this thread? Half the questions asked are answered by duffers who had nothing better to do with their time.

Thou shalt capitalize the foremost letter of thy sentences, for this is well pleasing unto all champions of true order within the noble sphere of language.

Half the questions asked are answered by duffers who had nothing better to do with their time.

Mwa-ha-ha.... :D

Wilt though cease pointing out all my trivial plays with language? Know ye not that even the great Shakespeare played freely with his words? Rules and laws are for those who know not the beauty of language. If thou shalt not cease, from this day on I shall write only in the most beautiful language of Chinese, that thou knowest not!

That thou knowest not.

heck, I'm just one of those dumb college kids who hasn't read any Shakespeare (actually, I've read one or two, though I've seen various productions)! Blame me not!

And anyway, he uses "you" way more than "thees" and "thou"s.

I've fogotten, I'm writing in Chinese.

你好。:)

(why "knowest"? wouldn't it be second person, "know"?)
