Nessa's photoshop secrets

Hey look, it's my favorite graphic maker's thread, I think I'll stop by for a visit

*drops luggage*

:D

Thanks! Well, this is a very nice trick to do. I'm going to teach how to make a close-up of a face with a bit of radial blur.
1. Open a pic you like (in my case I used a pic of the face of Eric Lindros :D)
2. Duplicate it
3. Grab the crop tool
4. Make a selection with the crop tool around the eyes part.
5. Crop it
6. Now grab your elliptical selection tool
7. Make a selection around the eyes. You can select one eye and then hold shift and make a selection around the other eye. Now both eyes are selected.
8. Go to Select > Inverse
9. Select Filter > Blur > Radial Blur
10. Choose Zoom and Good (Best is a bit too much)
11. Repeat step 10 two or three more times
12. Go to Select > Modify > Feather and choose 6 px
13. You're done!

Edit: I only used the crop tool for the eyes part. If you don't want to o this effect on the eyes you can also use the selection tool as long as you inverse after the selection!!!!

This pic has given me an idea for a banner with the middle picture of Peter Davidson in my banner.

Spooky effect.
You can make a funny spooky effect when you desaturate a pic whichs makes the pic black and white but when you leave the eyes untouched. A large pic or a pic where the eyes are very clear will be perfect!
This is very easy to do.

1. Open a pic
2. Duplicate the pic (it's highly needed for the eyes)
3. Desaturate the pic (Image > Adjustments > desaturate)
4. Select your eraser tool and choose a soft brush
5. Erase the eyes so the original color of the eyes will come through
6. You're done!

You can also select the eyes before you desaturate the pic. This will make the erase part unnecessary. But when you do this you must inverse the selection before you do the desaturation!

I love that effect, I went a little crazy with it at one point and made a whole bunch of banners with it because I loved it so much. That was right when PC came out so I had a whole bunch of pictures to work with :D

My favorite student!!!!! Girl have you grown a lot with your work? *takes over luggage*
Some effects are very cool to make. I loved the spooky one :D It is fun to keep the eyes clear. Have you posted spome already? I am not curious *nodds head* Oh no :p

Another cool effect is when you do this:
1. Open a pic
2. Duplicate it
3. select the top layer and go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur and set radius at 15 px
4. Now set blending mode on overlay
Done!!! :D

Thanks Ferny dear! I bet you love to see your hobbits again?

I posted it a while back, but knowing my thread it isn't too hard to find, my thread has been a bit slow this year, but I don't really mind, it keeps me off the computer :D

I still use photoplus and Roxio photosuite but I was thinking about asking for a fairly cheap graphic program for Christmas, do you have any suggestions?

Photoshop elements! It is not as expensive as photoshop or maybe paintshop pro perhaps? I have been slow with my thread as well. I missed inspiration but sometimes it comes back little by little :D

You should ask about Photoshop elements 3 or 4 because they are not that old yet.

All right, I'll check those out. Thanks :D

Mainly I've been working on writing, and with writers block, school starting again and Bible Quizzing starting it has all been piling up.

And I have been busy with writing, work and so many other things :D I used to make graphics everyday but lately I don't mind about it that much anymore. But I do love to learn new techniques

I got myself a flash drive so I wouldn't feel so bad about taking up space on my sister's computer with banners, so now my folder is all empty and I need to fill it up again :D

Hahahahaha!! I bought a stick (USB) and put both photoshop and files on it but somehow I started to fill my pc again with pics :D I need to delete the double ones because I copied them back to my hard drive :D

The thing is I'm thinking about starting making animations again and that takes up a lot of space

oh that reminds me of screencapping, I remember I offered to screencap an entire scene from LWW for someone and it took forever

I once screencaptured the scene where the Pevensies were crowned. The scene itself isn't that long but the screencap part took forever  I never clicked that much on my mouse as I did then.

when I was posting the screencaps for her I got really bored of just posting "ten thingy" or whatever that I started telling her a story in each post :D

Yeah! That's way more fun! When you want to post a pic and no text you alays get the error message :D I didn't know one small clip could take so much space  My pc always changed the pics into a bmp format so I was glad to remove the screencaps after I used them :D But I don't know what was more tough....remove a ton of pics or making the screencaps. I remember you made them! I always admired you for doing this but I was glad they never asked me :p

I've only done it once thankfully :D but I've been tempted lately to make myself another one. I had the one from Doctor Who and the one from Meet the Robinsons recently. A while ago I had one from Sense and Sensibility but that one was really dark.

I used ROTS screencaps but they were very dark as well. Sometimes it depends on the movie itself. Most of the time I am too lazy to make screencaps :p Google is a very helpful tool :D

I learned how to make a portal or vortex. You know...these things which will lead you to another time or place. It's extremely fun to do! Everything in this pic is done by me. I changed the background, changed the colors, add the vortex and the hockeyplayers and this amazing brush.:
Click to enlarge and after you see the link you can click two more times to see it full size
