The next morning Godfrey, Isebella and Thorn got up and cleared camp. When they had finished clearing the camp and packing, Godfrey and Isebella mounted up on Thorn. (Godfrey was of course in front, for it is not gentlmen-like to sit behind a lady). For a while Thorn complained that the two of them made hsi back feel heavy, but after grumbling a little longer, Thorn flapped hsi wings and soared inot the sky. For several hours not a word was said, for the sights and sky where so much to take in. The sky looked as blue as dark waters and the lands below shined with a golden brown, that looked almost gold. The clouds where puffy and white as snow and when you went threw them, you felt a mild mist. After a long day of flying, Thorn decended and landed on some nearby peaks. Adn as he cought hsi breath, Godfrey looked threw the fog over the sea and said "look!, look over there". Thorn and Isebella both saw the strange shadowy images far inot the distance. "what do you think they are?" asked Isebella. "Prehapes islands or peaks, I shouldn't wonder" replied Godfrey. But as Thorn took a clsoer look he saw they where moving. "I would normally agree, but there moving" said Thorn with his eyes fixated on the strange shapes in the fog. "And if I'm correct, islands or isles don't move" said Thorn. "Your'e right Thorn, they are moving andi n this direction" said Godfrey as he squinted his eyes. "They must be ships of some kind" said Godfrey. Thorn then had a horrified look on his face, "Oh no!, then we should hide". "why?" asked Isebella looking rather confused. "Because if they see me, they will surely want to slay me" said Thorn as he dashed behind the peaks. "Thorn is right, they don't know he's a nice, tlaknig dragon"-"They would spear him on sight" said Godfrey. "Plus we don't know what knid of men, they are"-"They could be pirates" said Godfrey. "Then we should hide as well" said Isebella. Thus Godfrey and Isebella dashed behind a tall thicket and watched the approaching ships. As the ships came near, it was obvious that they where jsut trade ships and that they where heading eastward. But as the ships came roud the peaks, a big ship barring black sails came silently out of the shadows. The dark ship fired apon the trade ships with it's massive cannons, nearly piercing the deck. tHe trade ships returned fire, but it had little effect. The dark ship contiued to push towards the trade ships firing cannon-balls into the mast and deck sections. One trade ship's mast was splintered in two and came falling unto the deck. As all this happened Godfrey and Isebella watched and they noticed the black flag on the dark ship. The flag had a skull-with two cross bones behind it. It was obvious now, that the dark ship was a pirate ship. The sea battle contiued as the pirate ship blasted one of the trade ships to splinters. As the sea-battle raged, Godfrey began to feel a little furstrated. For he knew the men on the trade ships where hard-working, honest mean. Thus Godfrey arouse and ran further into the peaks. Isebella fallowed him, as Godfrey weant into the dark shadows. inside the center of the peaks was Thorn currled up and ducking his head underneath his belly. "Please, don't slay me"-"I meant you no harm" shouted Thorn in a weeping and scared tone. "It's only us Thorn" said Godfrey. Thorn raised his head out from his belly and said "fw!, I thought for a moment you where the pirates". "Thorn I need you help, actually those poor taders need your help" said Godfrey strenly and in a serious tone. "What could I possibly do, Godfrey?" asked Thorn with hope Godfrey would say he didn't need to do anything in paticular. "I need you to help me attack that pirate ship" replied Godfrey. "what!?, are your crazy!"-"That's suicide, we would be blown out of the sky" said Thorn. "Thorn is right, it is very dangerious, but still Godfrey is right"-"They need help" said Isebella. "Please Thorn, need your help"-"Those men don't deserve to die" said Godfrey in a pleading manner. "But we don't deserve to die either" said Thorn. "Curse your cowardness Thorn, everyone some day must die"- "And if Aslan be for us, then what is there to fear" said Godfrey. For a minute or two Thorn went into deep thought and then finally said "alright, I'll help"-"because it's the right thing to do". "That a boy Thorn, now lute me mount you"-"And we will catch these wicked pirates by surprise" said Godfrey. Thorn then lowered his right wing and Godfrey climbed it. And as Godfrey and Thorn prepared to soar inot the sky, Godfrey said "Stay here Isebella, and if we don't return in a half hour"-"Find a way back to the Lone Islands". Isebella nodded, as Thorn and Godfrey took off into the sky and headed towards the sea battle. Back at the sea, the pirate ship had blasted msot of the trader ships and had sunk two. The trader shisp fired at the pirate ships, but it did very minamal damage and in the end it jsut made matters worse. As the pirate ship went to make another pass to board the remaining ships (which was three). Thorn and godfrey cmae soaringl ow behind the pirate's ship. And as the cpatian ordered to board the first trader ship, a stream of flaming fire engolfed the ship. the mast was burning and many crew members where burnt, and as everyoen paniced. The cpatain looked to the sky and saw the dragon. He ordered his men to raise the front cannons. Once the cannons where raise they where loaded and where ready to fire. As Godfrey sat on Thorn's bakc he shouted "Ver left and unleash another wave of your flame on the port bolw". Thus Thorn flew left and the cannon-balls hissed past them. The captain ordered a reload as Thorn blew fire on the port side of the deck. The pirate shi pwas now covered in fire and burning. The remaining trade shisp came at full speed and fired there cannons at the pirate's ship. And as the Pirate captian ordered overboard (meaning jump overboard) Thorn hovering above the flaming ship, lute Godfrey down. the Pirate Captian looked at Godfrey with devish eyes and angrey expression. Godfrey holding his long-sword moved closer to the Pirate captian. The two combatants circled the main deck, which was now almost covered in flames. And as more cannon-balls hit the port-side of the deck, Godfrey lunged at the pirate. The two blades clashed, making a loud clanging sound. And imedatly the lock-up between the blades was broken and both combatants swinged there sword fericly at one another. The Pirate Captain scowled and clinched hsi teeth as he swung madly at Godfrey. Godfrey blocked and stayed clam and collected. For he knew that eventualy the pirate would make a mistake. And within a poor swing, the pirate had made hsi mistake. And Godfrey pierced the pirate's side and flung him backward into the flames. Godfrey stood holding his sword in one hand and looknig in the flames as the pirate began to burn. The screams and pionful shouts where horrifying and in a heart of pity, Godfrey reached burning his arm into the flames and pulled the pirate out. The pirate was badly burned on his chestare and little bit on his face. But all in all he could have been worse. As Godfrey stepped away, the pirate captain said "why didn't you lute me burn?". Godfrey turned around and said "Because I beleive every man has some good in him and that no matter what wickedness he has done, he deserves a chance to make it right"- "I have spared your life and given you mercy"- "It is now your choice to do what you think should be done". The pirate began to weep and say "bless you, Sir for I would have never done such a thing"- "I am forever in your debt". "All you ow me is to live a better life and to treat others as I've treated you" said Godfrey. "Very well, I shall fullfill your wish and repay my debt" said the Pirate. As the flames came closer to Godfrey and the Pirate, Godfrey grabbed the pirate by the shoulder and jumped threw the flames and into the ocean. as the Godfrey and the pirate swam away fro mthe ship, it colapsed and contiued to burn. One of the trader ships came about and threw a rope to Godfrey and the Pirate Captain. When both had boarded, the traders siezed the Pirate and put him in bonds. Godfrey orderd "though this man has harmed you and your crew, spare him and lute him be judged according to law". The Traders agreed to the terms and the Pirate cpatain was not to be harmed. As Godfrey stood soaking wet on the afte side of the ship, Thorn cameswooping down next to the ship. Godfrey then with a great leap, landed unto the side of Thorn, where crawled up unto his back. Thorn and godfrey then flew bakc to the peaks....
