ic: Susan found that she enjoyed being in Gimliks village. It was quaint. There were about a dozen small huts forming a circle around a fire pit, where village meetings were held. In each hut lived a family of 3 to 5 dwarfs. Susan was placed in the care of Gimlik and his family, his wife, Higan, and their son, Hillik. They were a very hospitable family, and Susan very much enjoyed staying with them.

ooc: uhhh sorta. THERE WILL BE A BATTLE... just not yet okay Sir Benjamin?? We're (Chloe and I) still working out all the details of its all gunna work out.

They had traveled for several more days with little food, most of the time, they ate the fruits and berries in little area's where the trees and plants were still living. But as time came and went, they still could not find any animals. Coming upon a stream, they stopped and stared in wonder. The water... It was dead. It was impossible to explain it. The water did not move, but was not frozen. Touching the water, merely moved it. They continued wondering what horrors they would face.
Night had fallen, and they had set up camp. Sitting in front of the fire, Chloe rested herself. She was tired, and worried. What could cause so much damage. It had to be Crystal. How close to her castle were they that her evilness had the ability to kill water. Preturbed, Chloe jumped when Eringuard sat beside her. "Forgive me, Chloe. I did not mean to startle you." They had become good enough friends to call each other by their first names. It was a big step for both of them. "It's alright. I was merely thinking." Chloe said as she moved so that he was in her line of sight.
"On?"
Looking up she stared at the stars. Even they didn't seem to twinkle happily in the sky. "Crystal." She said simply and he understood.
"Do not think on it. If Aslan said you will defeat her than it must be so."
Sighing Chloe moved to stand. She couldn't sit when her body pained her. "But not soon enough to spare so many lives..."
"Chloe-"
"Eringuard, forgive me, I do not mean to be selfish. I should not trouble you with these issues."
"You are not a trouble." Eringuard said as he stood beside her. Silence insued until they laid down to rest. They had much to think on...

One morning, Susan was woke with a jolt from Gimlik. He stood above her as she rubbed her eyes sleepily. "Come Queen Susan. The elders have called a town meeting. Something is astir in the forest." Gimlik walked out from the hut, with a sleepy Susan trailing behind him.
What could be "astir" in the forest?? Susan wondered to herself. She was not aware of the surroundings of their village, and was anxious to learn more about the dwarf people.
"I hereby call this meeting to order!!" Called Gimlik from the center of the firepit, once Susan had taken a seat next to Higan. Susan towered over the dwarfs by a good 2 ft. This made her giggle, but when given a stern look from Gimlik, she quickly composed herself.
"Our village, which has stayed hidden for thousands of years, from all of other Narnia. Yesterday, while Jinkle was on guard at the gate entrance, he said that he saw a wolf, most likely a spy, circling around our safety shield. He did not penetrate it, but was very certain that he knew something was there." Gimlik looked down at the ground, and gave a sigh.
There were many shouts of fear and worry from the crowd of villagers. "Please, please everyone quiet down. We're doing all we can to insure our safety here. We encourage you all to stay within the boundaries of the shield. Do not for any reason voyage outside of the shield, without telling anyone or without taking anyone without you." Gimlik finished and stepped down from the center and sulkily retreated back to his hut.

Awaken! a voice filled Chloe's head. Awaken!! it repeated louder and more thoroughly. Opening her eyes, she let them adjust to the darkness. What was calling to her. Something on the otherside of the clearing caught her attention. Two eyes, glowing, in the dim light of the fading fire. Closing her eyes so that it appeared that she was still asleep she watched them. Every moment or so they would blink shut before reappearing. What is watching us? she thought silently to herself... or so she thought. Do not be startled my lady, merely act as if you are sleeping... Chloe tensed up for a moment, and then faked itching her nose, to make it believeable. She recognized Eringuard's voice, even though it was in her mind. Eringuard? How are you doing this? Movement beside her caught her attention, but her fears were immediatly quelled when she realized that it was Eringuard's protective arms wrapping around her waist in the darkness. She felt her skin turning red. Turn towards me, as if you are rolling over in your sleep. Following orders, she buried her face in his shirt, his cloak covered her from the neck down. Holding still, she replied to him. What now? her question was answered when she felt the familiar cool of her sword touching her leg. How it had gotten there was beyond her.
Do not reach for it. Wait for my say so. Snuggling into his chest she forced herself to relax. She knew he had a plan...

"Higan, what is all this about??" Susan asked, as she ran to catch up with Higan. The young dwarf turned around, and looked Susan in the eye. The look in Higans eyes, made Susan freeze and stiffen, and sent chills down her spine.
"Come, we will talk in private." She said, grabbing Susans hand, leading her in the opposite direction of their hut. She walked quick for having such short stubby legs. They went past all of the huts, and into the forest. They seemed to be traveling deep into the forest, and when Susan turned around she could no longer see the village and the huts, nor hear the worries voices. Suddenly she bumped into Higan, who had stopped in front of a tree. It was an ordinary tree, yet Higan ran her hand down the bark. Her hand stopped over a knot in the tree, she grasped it in her hand, and turned it with force. A quaking sound reached Susans ears, just as the tree began to open up to them, a door was forming and opening to them, beckoning them in. Susan stood in awe of this phenomenon. Higan turned to face Susan and without one word spoken between them, Susan followed Higan into the magical tree.
