The First Engagment
The Narnian forces made there way through the hill side. At last they reach the Plains of Plenious where awaiting them was an enemy encampment. High King Peter haulted the advancement and sent forth a scout. The scout happened to be Griffin, who had keen vision. Shortly after survaying the area, the Griffin noticed a large mass of black shadows amongst the tree line. Going in for closer look, the Griffin came under arrow fire. But before he retreated he caught a glimpse of masses beyond a thousand, beyond even ten thousand. Suffering on arrow to his wing, the Griffin made it back to the High King and the armies. "My king, it is a trap.." said the Griffin. "The encampment is empty, the main force is hiding in the tree line just east of the encampment".
King Peter stoked his beard and then commanded "Alright send in the Knights". "Captain Godfrey.." Godfrey rode up beside Knig Peter and responded "Yes my king?" "Lead your men into the tree line, flush them out into the open were are archers may be able to hit them." replied King Peter. "As you wish.." said Godfrey as he troted toward the frontline. Unsheathing his sword he called out to his men "My brothers, It's time for first taste of battle." "Join me as we make the field bleed red with their blood!" The OTher knights unsheathed their swords and shouted resounding battlecry. Then without hesitation Godfrey lead the charge. twenty strong kngihts fallowed him in straight line down the hill side.
Approching the tree line, the Knights came under heavy arrow fire. Several where hit and fell off their horses. But the line of the kngiht's did not break, the psuih foward into the tree line and engaged the enemy. Sir Godfrey along with several of his fellwo knights broke through the archers and into the first enemy line. Mounted they foguht galiantly, sheding theirr enemies blood with each swift stroke of their sword. But as they slayed the first wave, another two fallwoed, until Godfrey sounded the retreat. Sir Godfrey with only six of his knights rode out into the plains. Fallowing them was horde of Mizar's army, that quickly dwindled as the Narnian Archers made easy targets of them. Mizar's army retreated for the wood to regroup, but only a few of the horde that went into the plains returned alive.
ir Godfrey rode up to Knig Peter's side, his face covered with dirst and blood. "Well done Captian.." said King Peter with a smile. "Thank you, my king" said Godfrey with slight bow of his head. King Peter then ordered the archers to return to formation. Looking at the trees King Peter got an idea. King Peter gathered together his brother King Edmund, Captian Godfrey, and several other officers to discuss his steadigy. "I want to bring two of the catapalts out to the field and I want the archers to light their arrows with fire." said King Peter. One of Officers disagreed King Peter's plan and said that it was foolish to bring the catapalts out onto the field, for fear of them being destroyed. But Knig Edmund and Captain Godfrey agreed with King Peter's plan. "It's a brillant plan, you burn their only source of cover, and cause high casulties". "Well done brother" said King Edmund.
After dispathcing orders, the two catapaults were on the field, ready to be used and the archers had torchs to light their arrows. As dusk set in, King Peter gave the order to commence the attack. Soaring into the air was several hundred flaming arrows, slong with several large burning debris from the catapaults. The Tree line lite up, and the loud shouts of the Mizar's army coudl be heard echoing. tHe trees began to burning at amazing rate. And before the stars could be completely seen in the sky, the tree line was gone. Mizar's forces moved into the plain and heald there. King Peter looked on the sight of the burning remenats of the forest and said "I have sacrificed the forests of Narnia.., so that I may one day plant new trees that will bare the sweet fruit of liberty and freedom.."
