Shaking hands with Ollie, Alipang said, "I narrated the Escrima demonstration a few hours ago. I was actually a fighter in the same demonstration at last year's picnic and the year before that. As a younger kid, you might have seen me in some group outings by homeschooling families. I'm also a waiter at the Pansit Paradise--the best (and only) Filipino restaurant in this county. And my Dad is the leading dentist in Smoky Lake, a title which I intend to earn in my turn."

Ollie nodded. "Probably from all the community work. How have you all been? I saw your father about a half hour or so ago, he was with your younger sisters."

"Yeah, my Dad is great with the babies. Mom is too, of course. Chilena and I call Melody and Harmony 'the babies' not only because they're a lot younger than we are, but because they were adopted AS infants, and thus have no memory of other parents--whereas Chilena was adopted at age three, and I at age eleven."

Ollie nodded. "I'm going to be helping out at an adoption center in a week or so. I'll be needing some helpers."

"I'll help!" Jen said. "It's over the weekend, right?"

Ollie nodded. "Saturday."

Alipang said to Ollie, "I can't promise you anything, but IF a trip my family was going to take next Saturday gets cancelled, I might be able to join you there in the morning, before work--since if the trip is cancelled I'll be expected back at the Pansit Paradise."

Ollie nodded. "How is that place, anyways? Haven't been there in awhile."

"Doing great business, thank you. Quality food plus a friendly atmosphere will win out in the end. I was even able--that is, the Imadas were able to give a job to, um, to a senior girl from East, in addition to Maria being there full time and Chilena and me various amounts of time. Jennifer was there the Sunday before last, and she actually pitched in as an impromptu waitress because we had so many customers."

ooc: Do we seriously play a week per thread?

Jen nodded. "I had fun doing it."

Ollie smiled. "I remember Maria. She was a good friend of my mom's. I think they still talk over the phone sometimes. And hey, if you need any help, you can always ask me."

Alipang thanked Ollie for the offer, and soon was back at amusing Summer's father.

OOC: Kay, if you are asking about the relationship here between character-time and real time, there is no fixed policy. Like a baseball game, this roleplay is event-driven. In the whole time this RP has existed, we have only covered nine days: the Sunday _before_ Labor Day weekend of last year, through the actual Labor Day which we are still on. We might begin soon to accelerate our movement through game-time, because for my part I'm interested to see if the Havens and Tisdale families do still make their trip to the Barrier Islands on the next weekend. That trip was devised by the two mothers _entirely_ for the purpose of understated, unforced matchmaking between Alipang and Kim; but now it is jeopardized because Alipang currently can't bear even to look at Kim. This is not because Alipang is angry at her, but because he feels disgraced over her having found out he has a crush on her. (He doesn't think she could ever feel the same way for him.)

Ollie checked the clock that was across the street. It was one of those big electrical clocks in front of a bank. "There's another hour and a half before the concert. I'm going to go take some more pictures."

"Can I help?" Jen asked.

Ollie nodded, and the two went to go backstage.

OOC: That's what I wanted to suggest - perhaps speeding up a bit after your trip? Otherwise we might have ten threads for only two weeks.

OOC: As for thread-size limits, I've been told by a Mod that we can relax those now. Meanwhile, Alipang continues telling jokes to the disabled man.

Ollie lead Jen down some stairs. They were now under the stage. It was a pretty dark hall, but then at the end of it there was a huge room where most of the performers were chilling out. Jen almost squealed when she saw the All-American Rejects sitting and giving an interview. Ollie patted her shoulder and went to go take photos of Fall Out Boy.

Jen stood there, starstruck. Then she sat down on a chair nearby where Ollie was. She had seen Fall Out Boy in concert before and gotten their autographs, but she was amazed at her luck to see them this close.
