Playing in the Queen of Hearts' Castle

Several pairs of opposing common soldiers, inspired by the example of their officers, began savagely thumb-wrestling, so that whatever happened next, they could literally and truthfully say that they had engaged in hand-to-hand combat. At some point, the King and Queen of Clubs actually found the courage to come out and see what was happening.

The Gryphon landed and Alice gripped the document harder.
"Don't crush it!" the gryphon said again.
"Sorry, just nervous I guess."
"That's easy to see."
"Oh, well, thanks a lot."
"You're welcome."
"I was being sarcastic."
"So was I."
Alice sighed.

Meanwhile, back at the Hearts castle, the Fireman arrives in his jet-sleigh. Though slightly startled to find the King and Queen of Hearts being kept under guard like arrested criminals, the extraordinary Dwarf looks for someone he CAN make a report to, finally settling on the Walrus, the Carpenter and the March Hare.

"I've done an extensive aerial recon, and it looks very much as if the Snow Queen has vacated Wonderland altogether--or perhaps I should say, all alone."

"If she heads for the Monologues reality," remarks the Walrus, "her power will be even more reduced than it already was; in fact, she'll be lucky if she can do convincing card tricks."

The little Skua is waiting impatiently until his mistress returns. But the Snow Queen has decided to wander off for a short while

The whole group is waiting until Alice is coming back because they have nom idea what is going to happen to her. Then the white Rabbit hears a voice.

Clubs soldier: Who is in charge over here?
Rabbit: You know the Queen and King of Hearts are but they are busy with other things
Clubs soldier: I come in the name of our beloved King and Queen and we want to hand over this document

Rabbit reads the document

Rabbit: it's a peace document. Your King and Queen don't want war. Neither do we but the silly King and his aweful Queen have decided otherwise.
Club soldier: But what are we going to do next?
Rabbit: I think you better tell your Ling and Queen to be prepared for battle
Club Soldier: They already are but they try to avoid a fight by sending out this document
Rabbit: Against these silly two your kingdom doesn't stand a change of having peace with the Hearts. They are always doing things you don't want them to do

Sapphira the dragoness lumbers out to meet the Clubs messenger (seeing no reason to let him know that for the near future she'll be unable to fly), and tells him, "Come over here, good sir. You see that hairy monster lying dead in the courtyard? It had a great deal to do with the recent troubles. As for the King and Queen of Hearts, they are NOT in command here at present; and IF the people decide to let them keep their crowns at all, it will NOT be without some form of constitutional restraints on them.

"There are men right here who can tell you that the Lord God Almighty, in the form of the God-Lion Aslan, raised them from the dead quite recently. Most, if not all, of the harm that has happened recently can be undone; please accept my word on this, and let peace return to Wonderland."

OOC: One possible wrap-up here would be to have Hearts Kingdom residents raise a cry for ALICE to be made their Queen. Then some new storylines could be generated, also allowing anyone who wished to join this thread to come in without being a disruption. The logical next phase of play should, I think, be visiting the Chess Kingdoms.

NOTE FURTHER that I've asked Lady-of-Narnia, founder of this thread and portrayer of Alice, what she thinks of this, because she had said she'll be offline for a time. She says that if she as Alice is offered the crown, we can assume she will accept and play accordingly.

Okay, someone has to be decisive

After Alice presents the recall order to the Hearts army, the King of Clubs has writing materials brought to him by one of his officers. Before long, he has a document of his own to give to the blonde girl. He tells her:

"Young lady, word has reached us that you are a lover of peace and common sense. Please take this message with you to whoever is REALLY calling the shots in Hearts territory now. It states that my kingdom will be most pleased if YOU, Miss Alice, are crowned sole ruler of the Hearts. And if you meet my messenger who was sent out there, tell him to bring back some tarts."

OOC: No reason why you couldn't keep them. Having extra powers right on hand could prevent the next storyline from getting out of control. Especially good to have the devices because in whatever adventure comes next you WON'T have Eragon and Sapphira with you.

Me: Eric...keep your sword with you
Eric: I miss my hockeystick
Me: Awww come on!!! There are plenty available!
Eric: That's right.......
Rabbit: I think we must be prepared for something
Me: But what?
Rabbit: I think something good is going to happen
Me: Oh? How come?
Rabbit: My feeling

Toj: Do you think we're allowed to name flutes
Caspian: Name flutes???
Toj: It's my baby
Caspian: your baby?
Susan: It means that she cares for it
Caspian: And not me
Susan: Well, Caspian, as we know nothing worked out with us, but you and Toj would be a darling couple
Caspian: So what do you think Toj?
Toj: Well are you going to ask me to marry you or not?
Caspian: errrr :eek::

Just as Doctor Who is known as "THE" Doctor although many other doctors exist, so in the White and Red Chess Kingdoms, though there are many knights in the service of their Queens, for each color there is "THE" Knight of that color.

In the chessboard-patterned palace of the White Chess Kingdom, "THE" White Knight, the one who looks like Lloyd Bridges, is summoned to receive instructions from the White Queen.

"Sir Knight, you were in the Hearts Kingdom with us on our croquet visit recently; but unlike your King and myself, you mingled with the castle staff of the Hearts castle. Did you at that time receive any impression of something amiss?"

"No, Your Majesty, unless it was amiss for some persons from outside of Wonderland to be visiting there also at the time. When I saw Alice, with whom we are acquainted, she certainly gave no sign of worrying about anything. May I ask what is troubling Your Majesty?"

"Weather," said the White Chess Queen. "Have you not noticed that it has been unseasonably cold these last two or three days? The heavy clouds appear to have blown our way from the general direction of the Hearts and Clubs card kingdoms, indeed coming barely after we and the Red Kingdom party returned home from the croquet visit."

"Am I to understand that Your Majesty wishes me to investigate this matter?"

"Even so, Sir Knight. Take with you two or three other knights, some pawns, and the White-Squares Bishop. Do not assume that there are enemies afoot, but do be on your guard. Learn what you can about whatever has been happening in the Card Kingdoms."

"I hear and obey, Your Majesty."

=====================

THE PRECEDING SET-UP DIALOGUE CAN BE MADE TO FIT IN WITH PRACTICALLY _ANY_ NEW SCENARIO THAT MAY BE STARTED NEXT. NOTE THAT _THIS_ IS THE RIGHT TIME FOR ANY NEW PLAYERS TO JOIN THIS ROLEPLAY, AS CHESS CHARACTERS FOR INSTANCE.

toj laughed: I'll tell you my answer AFTER Alice is crowned the Queen of Hearts and Hannah and Edmund tie the knot, sound fair?

Peter: Do you think it's right crowning Alice the Queen?

Toj: Well of course- she would be kind and genorous and all of the cards would love her.
She loves wonderland herself.

Others: ALICE ALCE ALICE !!

Peter: you're right...when alice comes back we shall crown her, with the blessing of aslan.

OOC: Up to now, the only place where there even was talk of making Alice a queen was over in the Clubs Kingdom. So, if Alice has not come back yet to the Hearts Kingdom, how can TOJ and Peter be already discussing Alice being crowned? Please edit something in to explain how they would know this.

Upon hearing talk of his being deposed, the King of Hearts has a heart attack. But in the nick of time, the long-missing Lady Inkling arrives in her magic bubble and saves his life. She then urges the royal couple to abdicate their thrones, promising to transport them to a comfortable residence in the Monologues dimension where they will be well taken care of.

The Queen of Hearts is not so stupid as not to realize that some of the dissidents might make an end of her to make sure she never gets the chance to take revenge on them; so on behalf of her husband, she agrees to the abdication and banishment. The White Rabbit and other indigenous Wonderland characters are witnesses to this abdication. Then Lady Inkling takes the former monarchs away.

This, in turn, means that Eragon and Sapphira are no longer needed to watch the royal prisoners. Accordingly, they plan to say their goodbyes and return to their own world as soon as they've had a chance to congratulate Alice on her "promotion."

Me: Well...I believe we are going to have another party
Eric: What party?
Me: Edmund is going to marry Hannah
Eric: Owww...that's right!
Merry: Another wedding? The last wedding we witnessed was Aragorn's
Pippin: Don't forget Samwise
Merry: Oww yes...
Me: Hannah must get herself prepared
Merry: Meybe you should too
Me: What are you talking about Merry?
Merry *grins*: Nothing...I was talking about the dress
Me: What dress?
Merry: As a bridesmaid of course! You and ToJ and Alice are going to be the her bridesmaids of course
Eric: And whast about you two?
Merry: We are planning the ceremonial part
