Redemption

"Step away or I'll shoot the girl!" the man demanded as he walked out with Loralei.

"What do you want?" the negotiator asked as he held a microphone to his lips and stood beside a cop car wearing a bullet proof vest.

"I want you all to back off so that our van can come past" he answered. He wasn't the wisest of robbers.

"Alright sir" the negotiator answered but the sound of the chopper ahead was so loud that no one actually realised when the other three men were gunned down but the robber himself. Seeing that he had been tricked he quickly turned around. He was now facing Loralei. She didn't quite know why she hadn't tried to run. Actually she remembered why, she didn't want to end up like the other woman.

He lifted his gun, pointed it at Loralei and pulled the trigger. She heard the click and saw the bullet leave the gun but her legs wouldn't move and so Loralei stood still and accepted her fate.

Tristan saw the bullet leave the gun and ran towards Loralei. He moved so fast that the drivers in the cars didn't even see him run past. Just as the bullet was about to hit its target Tristan grabbed Loralei. He pulled her out of the way and the bullet smahed into the window. He didn't stop though. He flew into the air, taking Loralei with him.

The cops didn't even have time to respond. All they saw was the bullet being shot and then the hostage was gone. they didn't even get a clear look at her. The robber himself looked astonished. He lowered his gun, accepting his own fate and placed his hands behind his head.

"Loralei are you okay?" Tristan asked her after he had brought them back to the ground. She didn't respond just looked blankly at the ground then she opened her mouth and threw up. Luckily she always carried a bottle of water in her bag. Loralaie took it out and drank the whole thing. Tistan waited patiently for her response.

"Did you just.....? Did we......? Am I......?" she asked abruptly still confused. "Okay this must be a dream because humans can't fly. Yep they deinfately can't fly. I'm dremaing. Any minute now I'm going to wake up and laugh about this."

Tristan thought it'd be best not to say anything and just keep quiet. They waited for about 5 minutes.

"Oh my gosh this isn't a dream is it? You really did fly didn't you?" she asked and then she threw up again.

"No and yes" he replied. "I know it's probably a shock.."

"A shock?! A shock?! Are you crazy?!!" she shouted "You freaking just flew! I should know, I was your only passenger" she placed her fingers on her lips, trying to stop herself from throwing up again.

"Just try and take deep breaths. Breathe in...breathe ou..ouch" Tristan rubbed his arm. Loralei had punched him.

"Don't patronise me" she said angrily. "How did you do it? Are you come sort of witch or magician or maybe an illusionist?" she asked.

"No..........."

"Are you an.......an alien?"

".........."

"Oh my gosh"

"Well I'm not human"

"Really?" Loralei replied sarcastically. "Gosh you could have fooled me. Did you come from like a spaceship or something. Are you going to abduct me?!" she asked alarmed.

"I'm not an alien okay"

".................I can't believe I've been dating an aline" she kept saying to herself. "I kissed one too...................gross"

"Right that's it" he replied angrily. His eyes looked like they were on fire, green fire. "If you're going to be like I think I'll just leave you here"

"Fine. I'll walk home" she replied.

"Good luck with that" he turned around and was ready to fly off when she said "what do you mean Good luck? Where are we?" Loralei looked around and realised she might be a little further from home than she thought.

"Michigan" he replied smiling.

"WHAT! Thats miles away from home. It'd take me days to get back"

"Well take a bus"

"I've only got $5 thats why I was at the bank. you can't leave me here. Please..........".

Tistan turned around "I'll take you home but I swear if you call me an alien one more time I'll drop you" she didnt say anything. He grabbed her around the waist making sure he had a tight hold on her and flew them both back to her house.

She walked slowly towards her house.

"Loralei..................I can explain" he said walking after her.

"I think I'm going to need a little bit of time to take all of this in. I'll call you" she replied not looking at him. She entered her house and closed the door shut leaving Tristan standing outside.

She remembers him. That is all a flash back!!
The runner guy is Tristan and all will be revealed soon enough.

Loralei felt the tears drop from her eyes as she stood infront of the bank. She quickly wiped them away. She couldn't believe how many weeks she had wasted trying to stay away from Tristan. If only she had known that soon he would be the one staying away, the one leaving. She hurried past the bank and carried on walking. Well atleast she had her memories she decided.

After nearly a month of not going out and keeping her appearnce on low key Loralei finally decided to go to the cafe, sit at her favourite spot and drink the most delightful cappuccino she had ever tasted. School was out for the summer so it wasnt hard for her to ignore Tristan. After what had happened she couldn't even imagine talking to him, let alone being near him. And the fact he hadn't rang made her think that maybe Tristan had gotten the message and forgotten about her.

Even before entering the cafe she immediately ntocied the tanned, blonde haired boy sitting at her spot, in her seat and to add to insult drinking her cappuccino. She stood at the door concidering whether to walk in and grab her cappuccino to go or whether to just forget about the whole thing and hurry home. Loralei had thought that Tristan might have seen her but he didn't even look up, flinch or move. It was like he didn't even know she was there. This surprisingly annoyed her a little.

Tristan smiled at himself. He sat comfortably in her seat, drinking the cappuccino that he knew that Loralei loved and reading a book. He knew she would eventually have to leave her house and had guessed this would be the first place she would come and to his delightment he was right. He could have looked up but he firgured she would then feel pressurised to come and talk to him. This way Loralei had the choice. Stay and talk or walk away. As he sipped the coffee he wandered what she would do.

She held her head up high, brushed her fringe out of her eyes and walked in. She walked straight over to the table and sat down. "Okay......you win"
"Oh Loralei, why hello" Tristan replied putting his book down "didn't see you there"
She stared at him slightly angrily. 'Was he patronising her?' she thought angrily.
"Don't pretend that it's just a coincidence that you happen to be sitting in my seat and.." she was cut off.
"I don't see your name on it. Do you?" he replied smuggly.
She clenched her fists and would have hit him if he hadn't being sitting back in his seat, far away from her arms reach. "Fine.......whatever" she mumbled getting up.
"Wait........I'm sorry. That was uncalled for. Let me get you something to drink........cappaccino perhaps?"
She crossed her arms, looked at him but didn't reply.
"Please.......I've been sitting here for hours pretending like I'm actually interested in this book" he admitted. "I asked the guy at the counter where you usually sat and what you usually ordered". Loralei unfolded her arms and for a second Tristan could have sworn he saw her smile.
"Help me out here. All I want to do is talk. If you don't like what I've got to say then I'll back off" he added. "You can't dodge me forever" he gently pushed the chair out with his foot.
Loralei took her shoulder back off and sat down. "A cup of cappaccino sounds good".

They had sat in silence until the waitress came and brought Loraleis coffee.
"Thank you" she told her a she placed it on the table. The cafe was strangely empty Loralei notiuced as she glance around the room. There was an old man sitting in the corner reading a newspaper. Well atleast Loralei thought it was an old man. She couldn't quite see his face. 'Must be an interesting newspaper' she thought to herself.
She returned her gaze back to Tristan who was now watching the man like a hawk. There was a strange glint in his eye and he seemed rather cautious.
"I'm sorry I called you an alien.......or if I hurt your feelings"
He looked away from the man when he heard Loralei speaking.
"It's not your fault. It's not everyday that you go flying without an aeroplane" he replied in a hushed tone.
"True........So what exactly.....what are you?"
He glanced over at the man again who was changing the page of his newspaper.
"I'm not human but I'm not an alien either" he searched for his words very carefully "I'm from another planet"
"Like Pluto......Jupiter?"
"No. Nobody knows about this planet or our world. It's called Exon and we keep it very hidden. Only other Exonionites know about it. Just think of me as super......like superman. We look like humans just with enhanced abilities"
"Like flying?"
"Yes"
"Right...." from the expression on her face Tristan knew that she wasn't exactly taking in what he was saying.
"I know it sounds a little strange but I am telling the truth"
"Okay so let me get this right. You look like a human but with special abilites.....like superman" he nodded. "Okay so if this isn't your planet, earth, what are you doing here? Come to spy on the humans?"
He hesistated before he replied "I was sent here by someone" he paused again. "Have you finished? Can we go somewhere else to talk?" he asked.
She thought it was a bit strange seeing as no one else was in the cafe but them and an old man who probably couldn't even hear them but she nodded "sure".

The man watched them leave and cursed himself under his breath. He could have taken any form, any creature but he chose to make himself known. Tristan had seen right through his disguise and now he would have to try a lot harder not to be seen or noticed. He realised the boy was a lot cleverer than he looked. He would have to be very careful to get close to the girl. He folded his newspaper under his arm, stood up and walked out of the cafe.

She took him to the park and they sat on a bench which was near the middle of the huge park. It was very close to the large oak tree that was positioned comfortably right at the centre.
"You said someone sent you" she reminded him.
"Yes.....I was brought her to protect someone" he decided he wouldn't be very specific and only tell her the minor details.
"From what?"
"From other Exonionites."
"Why?"
"Okay" this was looking to be difficult and Loralei was a very inquisitive person, always asking questions. "In Exon there are what you call Kings and Queens.......rulers. They had a child, a girl to be precise"
"So?"
"I'm getting to it. This child was sent to eanother planet for her safety. There are evil Exonions after the throne and they will do anything to get it"
"So why don't they just capture them and lock them away?"
"It's not that simple. In Exon there are so many rules and laws and you can't actually charge anyone with anything until you have proof. We don't know who it is and when they'll attack. She's the only child which means she's the only heir to the throne"
"She was sent to earth wasn't she?" Loralei asked.
"Yes. And thats why I'm here"
"To protect her?"
"Yes"
"How long ago was this?"
"It will be 17 years in a couple of months"
It was all beginning to click together.
"You said earlier our.......what did you mean?"
Tristan knew she was beginning to realise who he was talking about. "Loralei.."
"No......it's not me. I've sat here and listened to your story but now you're taking it too far Tristan"
"I'm telling the truth"
"I'm not from......Exon. I'm from earth and my parents are James and Sarah" she replied
"They're not your real parents"
"How dare you? You don't know me" she was getting angry again "this was a bad idea" she decided getting up. "Whatever ludacris ideas you've got..."
He cut her off "you're adopted" he accidently blurted out. "Just ask them".
That was the last straw as far as Loralei was concerned. She lashed out and punched Tristan right in the nose. "Stay away from me!!" she shouted and walked off. When she turned the corner she began to regret what she had done but nonetheless carried on walking, at a fast pace, until she got home.

Tristan wiped the blood from his nose. She had strong hands and if he had been human it would probably have been broken. He quickly stood up and followed Loralei. As he walked out of the park he caught the eye of a black and white cat. The cat smiled and purred and Tristan would have stopped and dealt with the it but he had other matters to deal with.

"Mum!" Loralei shouted as she entered her house. She dropped her bag on the floor and ran into the kitchen after her mother replied. Just by luck James was there too.
"Whats the matter hunny?" she asked.
"Am I adopted?" she asked immediately.
They didn't reply but just looked at each other with a horrified and puzzled look on their faces.
"What are you talking about?" her mother asked.
"Am I? Am I adopted? Are you not my real parents?" she asked again.
"Loralei...we think you should sit down"
"Oh my...it's true" she felt the room spin and her vision was blurred from her tears.
"We wanted to tell you.." her father began but Loralei turned around and ran out of the room. She opened the front door and carried on running, towards the lake that made up most of their garden.

Love the story! :D
I think you should put up some more.
You do well at revealing things at the right time and to keep things hidden from the reader.

I know but sometimes people say they'll do something but end up not doing it.

Tristan watched from the gate as the door swung open and Loralei came running out. She didn't notice him and carried on running. He began to question his motives and why he had opened his big mouth. She looked distraught and he hoped she wouldn't do anything stupid.

She knelt down by the pond and felt her cold tears as they dropped onto the back of her hands. She sat still all kinds of questions running through her head. She had mixed emotions. Loralei was angry, angry at Tristan for telling her, angry at her parents for not telling her. She felt betrayed, alone and confused. All this time she had thought she was James and Sarah’s daughter but now she felt like she didn't know where she belonged. She leaned over, edging closer to the pond. Loralei looked at her reflection in the calm and still waters of the deep pond. 'Who was she?' From anger and frustration she hit out at the water and her own reflection. She must have leaned in too forward for Loralei felt herself falling into the pond and before she could do anything about it she fell, head first into the water. The pond wasn't as deep as it appeared. On her way down she hit her head against one of the rocks that was settled at the bottom.

Tristan saw Loralei fall into the pool but thought she had let herself fall in on purpose. When he saw her body floating on the surface, face down, he realised something was wrong. He quickly ran over to the pond. Her body was lifeless and not moving. When he was close enough he realised there was a very distinctive red splurge of colour around her head. It was spreading at an incredible speed, mixing with the murky green/blue colour of the pond. He stepped into the pond and placing both hands under her body he turned Loralei around to reveal the wound that the blood had escaped from. He stepped out of the pond cautiously. Loralei's face was losing colour and she was losing a lot of blood too.

James and Sarah sat in their kitchen trying to figure out how their daughter had found out that she was adopted and how they would deal with the matter when the front door was suddenly flung open. Sarah stood up immediately with a look of horror on her face when she saw Tristan carrying an unconscious Loralei.
"What happened?" she asked running towards them, James following closely behind.
"She fell into the pond" Tristan explained.
"We should get her to the hospital" James remarked grabbing his keys.
"No!........It's not a major cut. She just needs some stitching and plastering"
"But she needs medical attention" her mother replied.
"I can do it"
"Are you a trained Doctor? No. We're taking her to the hospital" James replied angrily about to take Loralei from Tristan’s arms.
"I can't let you do that" he replied in a stern tone. " Listen to me by the time we get her there she would have lost too much blood. Trust me it's better this way, for everyone" he insisted with an authoritative tone.
They both looked at each other and without realising it they found themselves agreeing with the 17 year old and even leading him upstairs to Loraleis room. It was like they had no control or say in the matter anymore.
Tristan gently placed Loralei on her bed. Her mother changed her into dry clothes. When she had left Tristan entered the room again. He did exactly as he said he would. Stitched up the slightly deep cut on her forehead and placed a plaster on top.
It was hours until the colour began to reappear on Loralei's face. Tristan insisted James and Sarah stay downstairs until she had regained consciousness and surprisingly they agreed. He sat on the chair next to Loralei's bed and watched her. He knew she would wake up eventually and he also knew that he would be the last person she would want to see but nonetheless he wasn't going to leave.
Loralei sat up suddenly and coughed out some pond water. Tristan didn't even so much as flinch as Loralei practically sat unexpentantly and spat water practically at him. He didn't say anything but just wiped the small sprinkles of water that had managed to get to his face.
She suddenly realised that he was sitting there, staring at her. "What are you doing?"
"Saving your life........again"
"What? What happened?"
"You fell into the pond. I suppose that’s to be expected when you sit that close to an open pond and then lean in even more. It's like you wanted to the water to swallow you up"
"What? You think I fell in on purpose?" she asked angrily unaware of the cut on her head.
"No of course not but you should be more careful"
"It's so weird. I've never fallen in before"
"Well there’s a first time for everything"
"No. I definitely didn't fall in........someone pushed me"
Tristan tried not to laugh "you really are stubborn. I saw it with my own eyes, you fell in. Just admit it"
"No......I'm being serious. Before I fell I felt......a force, someone pushing me" she insisted very sure of herself. Tristan thought back. He had been paying o much attention to what Loralei was doing he hadn't really been looking out for anyone or anything. Maybe she was telling the truth.
"Anyway it doesn't matter now nothing does. You were right.......I am adopted, happy?"
"No. I didn't mean to cause any trouble between you and you’re.."
"Sarah and James. There names are Sarah and James"
"They are still your parents Loralei"
"Well you've changed your tune" she replied harshly. "They're not my real parents, I'm not related to them at all and in my books that means that they have lost the right to be called parents" she replied.
"I'm sorry"
"It's a little too late for apologies" she replied trying to hide the hurt in her eyes "and if you don't mind" she added lying back down and turning to the side so that her back was facing Tristan.
"Sure" he mumbled and got up. He wanted to make sure she was okay and now that she was, well kind of, he would go. He had forgotten to tell her about the cut but figured she would find out sooner or later.
Shortly after he left Sarah and James entered Loraleis room. She heard them walk up the stairs, open the door and enter. She was fully awake and aware of their presence but kept her eyes closed.
"We should have told her" James said speaking first. "She had a right to know".
"I know" Sarah replied in hushed tone "I just.........I didn't want her to think of us as anything less............we're still her parents. We might not be related by blood or have similar features or have the same genes. But we cared for her, let her into our home and loved her isn't that enough?" she asked almost in tears.
"I know Sarah........"
"It was selfish, yes, but I don't want to lose her James. She's all we have..." James placed a comforting hand on Sarah’s shoulder "everything will be alright. When she's awake we'll all sit together and talk about this........like a family" he promised. Sarah wiped her tears away and nodded. She kissed Loralei on the head, right next to where the plaster was, and walked out of the room.
The door closed and Loralei assumed that they had both left. She opened her eyes. She hadn't really thought about how this was affecting them. She felt guilty and terrible for how she had reacted but in all honesty she couldn't help it. She touched her forehead where Sarah had kissed her. She felt the plaster also. Loralei sat up in her bed still touching the large plaster that had been placed onto her cut. 'Had Tristan forgotten to mention something?' she asked herself getting out of the bed. She walked over to the full length mirror and looked at her reflection. She moved her closer to the mirror and started to peel the plaster off. Judging from the plaster she must have cut herself pretty badly so Loalei prepared her for the horrifying wound she thought she would see. She blinked continuously when she looked at what was underneath the plaster. 'That can't be right'. She touched the wound, or where the wound should have been. There was no cut, no scratch not even a slight bruise, nothing. It was like she hadn't even cut herself. The only thing that would make her realise that she had was the blood stain.
Loralei shook slightly completely freaked out by what she saw. She quickly placed the plaster back over the supposed cut. She stepped back, away from the mirror. She decided that even though she really hated him, he was the only one that could explain what had happened.
Loralei quietly opened her room door. She glanced up and down the hall to make sure Sarah and James were not upstairs. She closed the door again and slowly walked down the stairs on her tiptoes. She stepped back when she saw James walking into the living room with two cups of tea. She waited a few seconds until she was sure he had entered and was sitting down until she hurried to the front door. She opened it and quickly turned around, looking at the living door. She thought they would have heard the front door opening but there seemed to be no movement at all so she walked out and closed it behind her.

I know but sometimes people say they'll do something but end up not doing it.

Yeah....well, I'm not one of those people.

Nice update....though I keep noticing when your characters speak there are nio full stops or commas sometimes after they have spoken. Just something I noticed...another minor thing that would be easy to solve with Spell Checker.

Hmm, mysterious turnings....wonder what will happen next... ;)

Actually I did take your adivce and wrote it up on word first then pasted it onto here. It made it so much easier to see where I had made mistakes and to correct them. Spell checker did not notice that or point it out. I know I should put a full stop but I prefer not to.
Thats okay KJC just glad you're back :)
Haha yes Sami.

Fair enough. Glad you took my advice and glad it helped. :)
lol...must be a glitch in Spell Checker.

LOL must be.
I've been trying to update this story everyday but I didnt realise now long it actually takes to type it out. But I'll try and add mor today!

Loralei knocked on Tristan’s door. She heard no reply and no movement so she knocked again. She glanced through the window by the door but couldn’t really see much. The curtains were draw but she could make out a figure between the gaps.

Tristan placed the dish cloth on the hanger when he heard someone knocking on the door. He knew she would eventually come and find him. He took his time and walked slowly to the door.

"Finally" Loralei replied when Tristan finally opened the door. "You took your time" she added as she walked past him into the house.
"Come in" he mumbled under his breath after she had already walked in. "What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be resting?" he asked closing the door.
Loralei didn't sit down. She paced up and down in the open living room. "Resting? Why?"
"Because you fell and hit your head."
"I did.........that’s the funny thing" she began still pacing but a little slower now. Tristan sat on the sofa. He had a feeling that this was going to be a very long conversation.
"Tristan"
"Yes"
"What happens when you cut yourself?"
He looked at her strangely but thought he'd better answer the question and play along. "You bleed maybe if the cut is deep enough" he suggested.
"Yes and you might have........a scar perhaps. Or something to show where you've cut yourself?"
"Yes"
Interesting because after you left I checked my cut and you' never guess what I saw" Loralei stated. She stopped pacing and stood in front of Tristan.
"A cut" he guessed.
She laughed hysterically. "You'd think so". She stooped down a little and took the plaster off. Her forehead wasn't too far from Tristan’s face. "What can you see?" she asked him.
"Nothing.." he replied.
"Exactly! How crazy is that?" she asked rhetorically. "No wound, no cut, not even a scar. How is that possible?"
"Well I think you know the answer to that"
"Maybe I didn't hit my head. Maybe you're trying to play tricks with my head"
"Yes, that’s exactly what I'm doing" he replied "do you realise how ridiculous that sounds? you must have hit your head pretty badly"
"No....maybe this is your blood" she replied in a serious tone.
"Are you being serious?" Tristan asked "yes because I cut myself, knocked you unconscious, filled the pond with my blood and then carried you to your parents, stitched up your head just to prove my point."
"Yes" Loralei replied. She was very much convinced that that was exactly what he did.
Tristan laughed.
"Stop it. This isn't funny" she said angrily.
"I'm sorry but I think it's hilarious. You really think I would go to all that trouble to prove that you're not from this plant?"
"Yes. No...........I don't know" she replied in a hushed tone. "It's the only logic I can come to".
"Well I didn't. Besides I'm sure your par..Sarah and James would have noticed."
"So what's happening to me? Just yesterday I was a normal human going about my life doing ordinary things. But now.......I'm supposed to be from another planet, I'm adopted and there are people trying to kill me. It's all happening too fast." Tristan stood up.
"I know."
"Thats just it. You don't. You can't possibly imagine what I'm going through." She paused and tryed to hold the tears back. "I'm so scared........." she mumbled. She could no longer hold them back and they began to fall from her bright blue eyes. Tristan sighed and wrapped his warm arms around Loralei. She burried her face in his chest and cried away, not holding back.
'You don't know how far from the truth you are' Tristan thought as he hugged her.

When Tristan had gone over to Loralei’s house to get a couple of her things he was surprised that James and Sarah hadn’t even noticed that their daughter had left. He explained that she had asked to stay at the farm for a couple of days.
“She hates us doesn’t she?” Her mother asked.
“No. She just needs time to get her head around things, that’s all. She’ll call you soon” he reassured Sarah.
The house was completely empty apart from himself and Loralei. Tristan’s parents had gone away on holiday. They asked him to go with them but he insisted he must stay. They thought he was thinking about the farm but Tristan had other matters on his mind. He lay down on the couch and closed his eyes. Loralei had his room. The spare room had been converted into a study so Tristan had no choice but to sleep on the sofa.
She sat at the kitchen table sipping some tea when Tristan walked in.
“Morning”
“Hey” he replied. He looked really tired and worn down.
“I can go home if you like...”
“No. The sofa was very comfortable” he lied “it’ll do for now. Don’t worry about me” he added before pouring himself a cup of tea and sat down on the table, opposite Loralei.
She looked into her cup and watched the coffee swirl round and she moved the cup in a motion. There was a long awkward silence as they both finished their drinks.
“Your real parent’s names are Jarnell and Kara. You look a lot like your mother” he pointed out.
“Why now?” She asked.
“Well…on Exon after a certain age the heir to the throne is expected to take up his or her duty and become king or queen”
“But my parents are still alive…right?”
“Yes.”
“So why can’t they just carry on ruling?”
“Because they are getting old. It’s like………re-election for a new president” he had to keep referring to things that she would understand.
“They can’t be that old. I’m only 16.”
“On earth yes.”
“What does that mean? I’m not actually 16?” She asked slightly horrified.
“Well yes you are on earth but your true Exonian age…well it’s hard to tell. We all age differently.”
“So how old are you, on Exon?”
“That’s not important but if you must know I’m 30”
She just stared at Tristan.
“And you’re probably around 27” he quickly added.
“Oh okay.”
“As I was saying when you get to a certain age you’ll have to take on the role of ruler.”
“But I don’t know anything about ruling a kingdom or planet. This is ridiculous. How can you possibly expect me to do something like that? I don’t even know about Exon.”
“It is not compulsory.”
“Oh okay. Well that’s that sorted” Loralei said standing up.
“But if you don’t the position will be given to the closest person, in blood.”
“So? What’s the problem?”
“That would be your uncle. He is not the nicest of people and if he was to rule well… we’d all be doomed.”
Loralei sat back down.
“He plans on expanding Exon…he not only wants to rule our planet but also earth. He won’t have the power to do that until he becomes king.”
“So why don’t you just keep him locked up?”
“I have no proof and no one else believes me apart from your mother. She had to persuade your father to let me come here.”
“But you don’t need to worry about all this. Well not for another 2 months.”
“Why?”
“You’re turning 17 soon right?”
“Yes.”
“Well when you do you’re going to have to make a choice, stay on earth and carry on living with humans or come back to Exon with me.”
She looked into her empty cup.
“But don’t worry about it. I’m sure when the time comes you’ll know what to do” he reassured her getting up.
“What else can I do?”
“Regarding what?”
“Well yesterday I …healed myself. Is their any other things I should look out for?”
“You have no idea.” Tristan replied placing the cup into the sink.
“Can I fly?”
“I don’t know. Each Exonian is different. There are some things I can that you can’t and some that you can do that I can’t.”
“I’ll never know unless I try.”
“Okay.” Tristan replied “I’ll teach you everything I know if you’re sure”
She nodded and tried to look determined and confident all the while inside she was freaking out.

Loralei played with the pasta that was sitting on her plate.
“You miss him don’t you?” her mother asked.
“Who?...” but she knew who she was referring to.
“Tristan. It’s so strange. He just took off. It’s like he disappeared off the planet”
‘That’s exactly what he did’ Loralei thought.
“But I’m sure he’ll be back, someday.”
“I’m not so sure” she mumbled under her breath. She placed the fork on her plate and stood up.
“Loralei could you do me a favour?”
“Sure.”
“Could you feed the fishes in the pond?”
“Sure.” She grabbed the fish food and headed out the back door. She walked along the path towards the pond. She was a lot more aware of how close she got to the edge. She poured some of the food into her hand. The pond was very large and contained all kinds of fish. It would normally take the average person a good ten to twenty minutes to feed the fish but Loralei wasn’t any average person. She threw the granules of food into the air. They hovered and spread over to the pond, just a few centimetres above the surface of the water. When she was sure the food grains had completely covered the whole of the pond the granules dropped. She did it several times to make sure the fish had enough food before heading back inside. Loralei hardly used her abilities. Tristan had taught her everything she knew and she didn’t like suing them without him being there, just in case things went wrong. That summer had been one of the best and most amazing summers Loralei had ever and would probably ever have. She had learnt something new everyday and when Tristan had thought she was ready he would challenge her to a one on one friendly fight. He’d beaten her every time for obvious reasons apart from this one time. Loralei wasn’t sure whether it was because of her own strength she had won or whether it was because Tristan had felt sorry for her and had let her win.
“All done” she told her mother as she placed the container back into the cupboard. “I’ll be in my room if you need me”.
“…thanks…” Sarah replied astonished. She hadn’t seen anything for she had been placing the dishes into the dish washer, but the figure that hid itself among the branched of the trees had seen it all.
