Redemption

She hadn’t seen anything for she had been placing the dishes into the dish washer, but the figure that hid itself among the branched of the trees had seen it all.

While she was eating her breakfast there was a knock on the door.
"Strange are we expecting anyone this early?" she asked her mother.
"It can't be your father" she replied. "He's still in bed" she added getting up and wiping her hands on her apron. Loralei carried on eating and watched her mother walk down the hall towards the door. As she was about to place another spoon full of cereal in her mouth she sensed something was wrong. She had that feeling she always got when something bad was about to happen but this time the world didn't freeze, she did. She quikcly snapped out of it.
"Mom! Stop!" she shouted getting up from her chair but it was too late. As her mother opened the door the last thing she would see from this world was a small, red parcel. There was a little note on it and if she had had time to read it she would have seen.
Dear Loralei, here's a little early birthday present. Enjoy X
The sound from the explosion was deafening. There was a flash of bright red and orange, dancing together as they swallowed up the house and everyone in it. Loralei could feel the heat burning her skin and the fumes filling up her lungs and then she passed out.

"You look wonderful" Amanda said as she watched Loralei give her a twirl in her new dress.
"Thanks...I feel great"
"I'm so glad you finally let me throw you a party. You can't have a birthday without a party with friends" she added looking at her own dress in the mirror.
"Yeah...I know. It's just Tristan..." she still had a feeling that she was making a major mistake.
"I know what he said. I don't know why he's so against the idea. I bet he just wanted tonight to be jut you and him, all private and romantic"
"Shut up.." Loralei replied laughing. If only that was the reason.
The driver in the limo beeped his horn.
"We better get going" Amanda said putting her shoes on and spraying a little bit of perfume on her neck. "So why isn't Tristan coming with us again?"
"He's got something to do, but he'll meet us there" she quickly answered. "Right, lets do this" Loralei said all excited.
Amanda had booked them into the Chauvonny hotel. It was the pertfect venue to have a party and they may even get a glimpse of a celebrity.
"You're so grown up" her mother said close to tears.
"Mom.."
Sarah got a camera out and took a few pictures of Loralei and Amanda.
"Have a good night and be back home by midnight"
"Yes dad. Love you guys" she replied hugging them both. "See you soon".
Tristan watched as Loralei and her friend Amanda got into the limo. He waited in the shadows. He wasn't trying to hide from Loralei but he didn't want to be seen by anyoneelse, anyone who might have other reasons for following Loraleia and her friends to her party. The limo started and the music from the inside was blasting. Tristan started his motorbike. He could have followed them from the rooftops but he wanted to be more discreet. He closed the window of the helmet and began to follow the limo keeping his distance.

Tristan started his motorbike. He could have followed them from the rooftops but he wanted to be more discreet. He closed the window of the helmet and began to follow the limo keeping his distance.

The hotel was shinning brightly with all its beautiful out door lights. Loralei sat excitedly in the limo as it pulled up to the entrance. She wished that Tristan could enjoy this just as much as she was.
"You ready?"
Loralei nodded and herself and Amanda stepped out of the limo only to be greeted by the crowds of highschoolers waiting by the entrance for the birthday girl.
"Happy Birthday Loralei" they all shouted somewhat in unison. There was so many of them that she was sure she didn't recognise half of them.
"Thank you" she said as she walked past them into the hotel. The inside was even more spectacular than the outside. They had hired out the biggest hall in the hotel and it was decorated from wall to wall. There was a huge dancefloor in the middle surrounded by tables and chairs. At one end there was a bar, which wouldnt really be useful to any of them for they were underaged, and at the other end there was the buffet. There was about 8 tables joined together and over them spread from nd to end was all kinds of wonderful snacks and food. The DJ had already began beaming the music from his DJing table that was infront of the dancefloor near the window., They were on the 6th floor. The hotel was very high but Amanda had decided that the guests probably wouldn't want to walk up all the stairs ikn their high heeled stillettos. The guests began to fill the room, choosing where they wanted to seat, ordering their non alcoholic drinks and most of the boys were already by the buffet table. Loralei looked around the room. She didn't see Tristan anywhere. She began to wander if he would even show up. She fiddled with her dress.
"You look absolutley gorgeous Loralei" Sarah said as she walked past.
"Thanks..." she hoped Tristan would like it.

He parked behind the hotel so that no one from school would see him and wander why he had chosen a motorbike over a limo. Tristan placed the helmet on the seat of his bike and took off the bike suit to reveal his own black suit underneath. He wore it with a white shirt and grey tie. He looked very mature and grown up and rather sophisticated. You would never have known that he was going to a 17 year olds party. Then again so did all the othe guests. As far as he was concerned he had hadn't seen anything that caused alarm or looked weird. He would just try and enjoy the party and keep his gaurd up.
'Maybe nothing will happen' he thought stepping into the luxurious building.
He followed the other crowd of people who looked about his age up to the sixth floor. Amanda had really out done herself Tristan thought looking around the room.

Loralei sat at one of the tables. She placed her purse on the table and checked her cell phone just incase Tristan had tried calling. The music was getting louder by the minute and she could hardly hear her own thoughts. She looked at her perfectly manicured nails and watched the light reflect off the varnish.
Tristan watched Loralei as she checked her mobile and then stared at her nails. This was her party and she was sitting at a table, all by herself. He smiled slightly amused. She certainly wasn't like any of the other girls or people for that matter. He figured she was worried that something had already happened so he walked towards her, at a casual pace.
"Excuse you me but you could you please show me where the birthday girl is? Because she certainly wouldnt be sitting at a table on her own in her own party" he said standing behind her chair.
Loralei turned around and she couldn't hide her happiness as her eyes smiled. "Well she wouldn't have to be if her so called boyfriend showed up on time like any normal person"
"Well thats just it, her boyfriend isn't exactly what you call normal" he replied leaning down and kissing her on the cheek.
"You're telling me"
"You look....amazing"
"Thanks...not too bad yourself". They both laughed.
"I'm starving" Tristan said standing up straight. "Lets get some food" he held out his hand and Loralei happily took it. They were so warm and strong. She felt so safe around Tristan and now all her worries were out the window.
