Sir Tom the Dragon Knight
Dragon Lord
Sorry to hear that.
With folks of teen and college age, a trick
Is being played on them by film and song:
If romance doesn't show up for you quick,
You must be doing everything all wrong.
For absolutely EVERY other youth
Has got a lover -- so the movies claim.
It must be you alone who is a goof,
Just you who is a loser; what a shame!
But no! The shame belongs upon the souls
Of those who plant this envy in your heart.
In real life, MANY miss romantic goals,
And MANY find it even hard to start.
You're not alone, so don't think you're a dweeb;
Give God some time, and don't let films deceive.
I do not consider "the series" to be completed yet; but I have just received a special request from a valued friend, on behalf of two other members. Accordingly, a special sonnet is forthcoming. Note that, for the sake of meter, I treat the word "Barbarian" as being only three syllables. This is called poetic license ....
THE DANCING LAWN COUPLE
Barbarian King made me aware today
Of how our friend Octesian has proclaimed
The hope of lasting love he has obtained.
I hope I don't jinx them by what I say!
Octesian, you name friendship as the base
From which you've worked on love with Natalie.
I'm sure her Air Force brother would agree:
If there's no friendship, love will get noplace.
Now, Florida is wonderful to tour;
But _anyplace_ is good if, when you're there,
Your treatment of a loved one's just and fair;
A gracious loyalty makes love endure.
Raw, blind emotion _anyone_ can have,
But love with truth will be a healing salve.
