Still quite shocked by the whole event that had just passed, Alice managed to get past Skandar and Kaori to where the thing - she had no idea what to call it - lay, dead. She nudged it with her foot and stared, more shocked than frightened.

Skandar: Kaori! baby say something!
Kaori: *recovering from the shock* did......did i get it?......what.....was...was that.....thing?
Skandar:Yes baby, you got it....calm down....... Alice?

Alice passed a hand in front of her eyes, and blinked hard. So it was aliens after all, and if there was one here, there were bound to be more around...

Alice nodded slowly. "Yes, it is." She gritted her teeth together. She had never believed in aliens till now. She could almost hear her brother making a joke about them or anthing else that seemed rather silly.... her brother.... was he okay? And her three little sisters? The youngest four, and there was no way she could fend for herself. Oh, if something had happened to them, she would never forgive herself...

Skandar: oh wow..... Kaori? are you ok?
Kaori: *finally comes back to her original state of mind* Skandar!!! I almost lost you!!!!! *she starts to sob*
Skandar: but you saved me *he holds her close* and i'm still here. You overcame your fear of shooting something for me.
Kaori: i know....... it was hard.......
Skandar: Can you stand?
Kaori: i think so *she wipes away a tear and stands up
Skandar: Alice........ we need to stick together all of us.

Alice bit her lip, thinking. Suddenly, she realized that she had bitten her lip so hard that she was bleeding again. Gingerly, she reached up and touched her lip with one of her fingers.

Skandar: did you not just see what happen dia?

"Yeah I did, no use fretting about it. Seriously, think of it as a bear, or some game thats hunted but is wilder than deer." She said, trying to gain an exterior of cool and collective, "come on," she pressed them, "we'll lose Luci."

Alice started to follow, but she suddenly stopped, listening again. She thought that she had heard something else, from behind them this time.

Alice shook her head. "I don't know." She listened carefully. The sound was very faint, as if it were coming from a long way off. "But we ought to watch our backs."
