Susan/Caspian

What do I think? What do I think... oh, boy. You seriously shouldn't have asked me that. LOL I think the Caspian/Susan thing is just stupid.... among other things. Even just a little is too far for me. And I'm a hopeless romantic.

For one, it goes against Lewis' Narnia theology. Once, Andrew Adamson said they were putting the romance in as a way for Susan's disbelief later on... how lame! C.S. Lewis clearly stated Susan was interested in "other things" ad had simply grown up from being a child. There's nothing wrong with that, really. Can that not be the explanation for her non-belief in Narnia later?

Plus, there's the issue that Caspian is a whole lot older than he was in the book. IF they got an older actor just so there could be a romance.... someone is seriously twisted. Caspian was like... 13, 14 in the book, and suddenly he's eighteen?

And second... how can Caspian do that? She's like, a legend. She's too far out of his league, and he shouldn't even be wanting her (at least right now). I'm not saying he shouldn't be interested in other girls... but I mean, come on! The Gentle Queen? Isn't that a bit ambitious?

Third, it's just plain wrong! "We're putting a romance in Prince Caspian!" "Oh, but don't worry- we're TOTALLY sticking to the book!" There's a bit of self-contradiction there. They want to turn it into another Pirates of the Caribbean saga thing. Sheesh.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing anyone here, but I'm just expressing my somewhat forceful opinion. :D

like I said, *and I agree with you PC* flirtation is fine...but them actually showing an out-and-out romance, like Willabeth? that's where I draw the line.

i'll live if there is just a teensy weensy itsy bitsy bit of flirtation...i won't like it...but i'll live. I agree with you pc, like i said before. but for one thing...the look he gave susan in the production blog looked more to me like an uncomfortable look. Susan looked like she was flirting...Caspian looked like "uh-oh!"...to tell you the truth...i laughed. It was just too weird! hahaha

I personally think it is not going to go further than the Bow and arrow training scene, if that is all, then I would be OK with it. It may not be that Caspian is the one initiating the flirtation, Susan may be doing it as her, might-bit too grown up for her own good bit. If it goes further than a look and and a training lesson, they better be prepared for angry fan mail.

*writes angry fan mail*
lol ;)

I think that this is just blowing out of preportions, it might look like that those two might have some romance between them but it might turn out to where they don't. We don't know yet because the trailer hasn't even come out yet. So we will just have to watch the movie when it comes out to find out.

Totally agree with pinkie. Romance between the two is utterly ridiculous. As an excuse for her disbelief later on, it is confusing. How could she disbelieve if she had a romance in Narnia? Let's say they kiss. Susan has her first kiss in Narnia with the rightful heir to the throne. Suddenly a few years later she doesn't acknowledge her first kiss?

Throwing in a romance would make it harder for them to say that she could just stop believing in Narnia. After all it would have been the place where she left her heart.

I also agree that the time for a romance is not in the middle of a fight for one's life during a civil war. And why is Susan teaching him to use a bow and arrow anyhow? Didn't he learn that as part of his princely studies such as learning to fight with a sword and hunting skills?

Like I said I think that it was not anyone on the PC crew who said that that was going to be one of the reasons why Susan turned her back on Narnia.

I believe Doug Gresham said in an interview when he was asked about this topic that people should be more worried about global warming. I'm not too worried. If they have a little flirtation than it is what it is...I wouldn't want more than that and I doubt anyone else would either. I'm not gonna have a total fit over it before seeing the film though. I'll wait and see it and then throw in my $2..oh wait, I mean 2 cents...LOL.

100% agreed! You made my point also clear PC :D It is not what was written in the books. Never was written Susan and Caspian were romantically involved.

EXCATLY MY POINT!!! Thank goodness you guys understand. Like what others said, I just hope it doesn't go too far.

The logic there is (for me) Susan is too pretty for Caspian and Caspian is too handsome for Susan. Get it? And it was CLEARLY stated in the books that Caspian NEVER fell inlove with Susan or likewise. Caspian's only true love was Ramandu's daughter. o_O

I think that's how i'm going to look at it for now. I'm just too excited to be that mad at the moment...they'll be plently of time to be angry afterward! lol ;) I still agree with pc and everyone else tho...so yeah...

I really don't see anything wrong with a little romance between Caspian and Susan. I agree with you that she is a legend, the "High Queen" of Narnia and she is out of his league. And I also agree with you that it would be ridiculous to use this romance as her excuse that she doesn't believe in Narnia. But come on he's 18 yrs. old, young and handsome, and she's around 17, young and pretty (I seem to remember that in the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe C.S. Lewis mentioned that she was so beautiful that kings from beyond the sea asked for her hand in marriage.) He would be blind if he didn't notice her. What I think would be a good way to approach the romance is to make more of an admiration that Caspian feels for Susan. He sees her as a great Queen and he feels that it is his duty to kind of watch over her, especially with all the battles going on. Maybe they kiss once, but after she returns to England it's forgotten, like it wasn't meant to be. That's how I think this thing should be approached. Will it be that way? or will it be a sappy kissy romance? I guess we'll have to wait till the movie. :)
