Susan/Caspian

I am still not sure whether I think Susan or Caspian is the one who will start it. I know they will put at least something in there.

I'd guess Caspian from the character descriptions. He seems quite self-assured, but then Susan is known for being sort of boy-crazy...so who knows. I'd still guess Caspian though at least as how they have him in the film.
my view of all this is that anything, even flirting, would be something I would not like at all. In my opinion, Queen Susan, a queen from the golden age of Narnia, would be thinking about more important things than flirting with this prince fighting for his throne. Even a little romance between them is going out of the spirit of lewis' Narnia.

I'll just see how they do it in the movie, and stick to the books in how my view of how Narnia should be.

Yeah, I'd agree with ya there.

You got some strong agreement from me!

Flirting leads to other things.

Then other people... who don't like the book are like, "Dude, what's your problem? They're just making a few changes... plus, it's just a MOVIE!" And then... someone gets insulted by that and they say, "Well.. it's kind of based off the book!"

Well, there are two kinds of people, pinkie: book purists and movie purists. Book purists are generally unhappy when the movie strays too far from the book. Movie purists accept that the film is just one adaptation of the story that is in the book.

I am very much a book purist. Any relationship between Susan and Caspian that is anything but platonic to me is wrong. Of course, they shouldn't have much time to get to know each other, but that is another issue that we are already discussing elsewhere.

Yup...I...fourth that? lol...I dunno how many people have already agreed with you.
~Lava~, you said that you didn't know which of them would start the "flirtation" if there was any. I guess if Susan started it and wanted more, and Caspian didn't really want any...that would show Susan's inmaturity. Or more...her lack of propriety.

My opinion about the caspian/susan is there just going to be friends :)

I agree, however I wouldn't mind either way, but I think it is best if they are just friends as they were never anything more than that in the book so it makes sense for them to be just friends!

Either way, It is not a good situation. I would almost rather think it was a manifestation of Susan's "way to early to grow up" problems then a character default in Caspian. Because we lose Susan anyways, We keep Caspian for awhile still.

I dont mind the susan/caspian thing. Im not a book purist and something that spices things up is quite intriguing.:)

The preview thing I saw looked like the were flerting with each other. they better not. Well it might not be too bad if the put just a tad of it in.

yeah i would hate to have to kill ben barnes, it would not make me happy lol. but i really hope its not to much in there

Benny, I'm gonna give you a warning here...even if it's in jest, we don't say on a family friendly forum that we are going to kill any of the actors/Crew. Besides, Ben as an actor will follow the script and direction given him. So, state your opinions, but leave the threats out please. We like the actors and want the best for them. Thanks.

What do I think? What do I think... oh, boy. You seriously shouldn't have asked me that. LOL I think the Caspian/Susan thing is just stupid.... among other things. Even just a little is too far for me. And I'm a hopeless romantic.

For one, it goes against Lewis' Narnia theology. Once, Andrew Adamson said they were putting the romance in as a way for Susan's disbelief later on... how lame! C.S. Lewis clearly stated Susan was interested in "other things" ad had simply grown up from being a child. There's nothing wrong with that, really. Can that not be the explanation for her non-belief in Narnia later?

Plus, there's the issue that Caspian is a whole lot older than he was in the book. IF they got an older actor just so there could be a romance.... someone is seriously twisted. Caspian was like... 13, 14 in the book, and suddenly he's eighteen?

And second... how can Caspian do that? She's like, a legend. She's too far out of his league, and he shouldn't even be wanting her (at least right now). I'm not saying he shouldn't be interested in other girls... but I mean, come on! The Gentle Queen? Isn't that a bit ambitious?

Third, it's just plain wrong! "We're putting a romance in Prince Caspian!" "Oh, but don't worry- we're TOTALLY sticking to the book!" There's a bit of self-contradiction there. They want to turn it into another Pirates of the Caribbean saga thing. Sheesh.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing anyone here, but I'm just expressing my somewhat forceful opinion. :D

I have t oagree with that 100%.

Took teh words out of my mouth....:p

I think we have since learned that the Susan/Caspian thing is not a romance, and not the reason Susan refuses to remain a friend of Narnia, which were my greatest objections to it (among others). I think it is perhaps a flirtation, and who could blame either of the kids because they are both very nice looking young people. If it's just something like that, I think it will be fine. Douglas Gresham has said we have no reason to worry about it damaging the story. So. I think we're safe.

I looked at the clip again, and to me, it looks as if Susan is just helping and Caspian is kind of awe-struck and scared about her being near him. I don't like that they added ANY romance at all, but if there is, then I'll be all right as long as it's within reason. I agree that the whole "her ignoring Narnia helped by her romance" is confusing though. I just don't want TCON to end up like HP.
