Susan/Caspian

I do not think that they will go above flirtation. If they do they will not get the right responce from fans. As far as we know they could cut the romance out of it when the film reaches the cutting room floor.

I really don't see anything wrong with a little romance between Caspian and Susan. I agree with you that she is a legend, the "High Queen" of Narnia and she is out of his league. And I also agree with you that it would be ridiculous to use this romance as her excuse that she doesn't believe in Narnia. But come on he's 18 yrs. old, young and handsome, and she's around 17, young and pretty (I seem to remember that in the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe C.S. Lewis mentioned that she was so beautiful that kings from beyond the sea asked for her hand in marriage.) He would be blind if he didn't notice her. What I think would be a good way to approach the romance is to make more of an admiration that Caspian feels for Susan. He sees her as a great Queen and he feels that it is his duty to kind of watch over her, especially with all the battles going on. Maybe they kiss once, but after she returns to England it's forgotten, like it wasn't meant to be. That's how I think this thing should be approached. Will it be that way? or will it be a sappy kissy romance? I guess we'll have to wait till the movie. :)
oh no...I wasn't going to say anything else but if it gets to a kiss I might cry or something...:p...ok i'm going over board but...I will be extremely displeased.

NO! THEY BETTER NOT PUT A SU/CASP ROMANCE!!!!!! IF THEY DO!!!!!! SO HELP ME I WILL!!!!!!!--ahh! someone bonk my head! 0.0

oh...I...heard rumours that they're adding one. but nothin major so's dont worry.

from some of the footage they show in Ben Barnes' Production blog makes it seem as though they will put at least a little bit in.

Totally agree with pinkie. Romance between the two is utterly ridiculous. As an excuse for her disbelief later on, it is confusing. How could she disbelieve if she had a romance in Narnia? Let's say they kiss. Susan has her first kiss in Narnia with the rightful heir to the throne. Suddenly a few years later she doesn't acknowledge her first kiss?

Throwing in a romance would make it harder for them to say that she could just stop believing in Narnia. After all it would have been the place where she left her heart.

I also agree that the time for a romance is not in the middle of a fight for one's life during a civil war. And why is Susan teaching him to use a bow and arrow anyhow? Didn't he learn that as part of his princely studies such as learning to fight with a sword and hunting skills?

MrBob
I second that, MrBob. CLEARLY, we know that Susan turned her back on Narnia after this, right? If she DID have a romance with Caspian, why on earth would she not believe in Narnia anymore?

And yes, I was wondering about that. Caspian should've learned his archery during his training as a prince. That's just the funny thing with the script writers; they change everything that it drives you mad. :D

Yes, didn't Miraz put Caspian through all that "princely" type training and stuff?

Cause... screenwriters think that when they are supposed to write a script for a book that's about to be turned in to a movie they are supposed to make "improvements". Like if someone didn't like something in a book, and when they grow up they become a screenwriter, they think, "Well, this MUST be God's way of saying I can change a classic book's ending because I didn't like it. I can make all these changes- and soon, this movie will go down in history as an instant classic!!"

Then other people... who don't like the book are like, "Dude, what's your problem? They're just making a few changes... plus, it's just a MOVIE!" And then... someone gets insulted by that and they say, "Well.. it's kind of based off the book!" :p

It's true, PC! People who aren't wild about the Narnia books would not care one way or another if they made a romance between Susan and Caspian ... but for those of us who grew up (or are in the process of growing up) with the books, then it's a terrible idea to change the storyline!

oh my gosh i completely agree!!! arrrg...script writes....

Personally I don't really mind them putting in a little fling between Caspian and Su. I mean... as long as they don't go to far with it then it will be ok. :)
I mean.. it may make it more interesting. :D

If it is innocent and really admiration driven (meaning no kissing or anything of that nature) I am not so sure that I would mind it that much either. Simple flirtation is not romance.

Agreed. If it is flirting, admiration, that sort of thing that lets you know if they came from the same world and were the same age there might be some spark, that is OK.

But if the idea is that Susan gets her heart broken and that's why she rejects Narnia, that's a horrible thing!!! It would make Narnia into a bad experience for Susan, and no wonder she rejects it. That is not at all what Lewis intended in Susan's dessertion of Narnia.

But I cannot believe they would go that far afield from the story.

I am still not sure whether I think Susan or Caspian is the one who will start it. I know they will put at least something in there.

my view of all this is that anything, even flirting, would be something I would not like at all. In my opinion, Queen Susan, a queen from the golden age of Narnia, would be thinking about more important things than flirting with this prince fighting for his throne. Even a little romance between them is going out of the spirit of lewis' Narnia.

I'll just see how they do it in the movie, and stick to the books in how my view of how Narnia should be.
