Well, it's feast or famine with people posting!
[Let me try to dovetail in the things I had in mind.]
* * The previous night, when Lucy had just said goodnight to Peter:
The words were barely out of Lucy's mouth when she felt a sensation that would have baffled or even frightened someone unprepared for it: the sensation of being gently and lovingly kissed by someone unseen. When first figuring out how the communication devices worked, Peter had discovered that he could not initiate speech with his sister from his amulet--she had to start each conversation from the necklace--but he could make her aware that he wanted to talk by sending a touch. While concentrating on Lucy in his mind, he would touch the amulet to himself, and she would feel herself touched likewise, thus knowing that Peter was calling to her. On most occasions he would touch his head, causing Lucy to feel that her hair was being lightly stroked; but when it was a goodnight over distance, as now, he would send his sister a goodnight kiss, as when she was a child and he took a turn seeing that she was well tucked in for the night.
* * Early morning, before the questing party got up--a scene at the Satyr village:
Zelzil emerged from the hut she had shared with her late sister--to see the leopardess and the terrier sitting on their haunches in front of her. Managing to simulate something like wounded innocence and righteous indignation, she snapped at them, "Haven't you bothered me enough? Don't you know I'm in mourning?"
Vesta turned toward her small companion. "Before I proceed, are you _fully_ certain about the scent?"
"Entirely certain," replied Snowpelt, "even when altered by the odor of guilty fear."
Vesta looked at Zelzil again. "What you are grieving about is the fact that the ruckus raised by the antelope you mistakenly shot prevented you from disposing of your sister's body as you had planned. Satyr Zelzil, in the name of Aslan and of the High King, I arrest you for the crime of premeditated murder. His Majesty Peter will guarantee that you have a fair trial, with every opportunity to present any information that may extenuate your guilt."
Suddenly Zelzil blurted out, "She had everyone fooled! They all thought she was SO sweet! But she really..." And what followed from the culprit's mouth, before the men-at-arms took custody of her, was so coarse and crude that Vesta and Snowpelt would not repeat it to anyone unless judicial proceedings made it absolutely necessary.
* * That brings us up to the present again with Lucy and Kayeleigh, so:
Right then, as if consciously done to reassure her about her worries, Lucy felt her brother's long-distance touch to her hair. Peter either had business to discuss, or simply was missing his most-loved relative.
