I'm glad to hear a report from someone who's seen the movie! I, too, was concerned that it would have Shrek-ish crude humor, just because the story seemed modernized. I was super relieved when I read the Plugged In review. My sisters, youngest brother, and I all saw this last night. It was a really fun movie. The only problem was the villain didn't seem, I don't know, villainous enough? until right at the end. But it was definitely one of the better Disney cartoons. When I first saw the trailers I thought it was going to be all crude-humor-cynical-Shrek-ish, but it wasn't. And I liked the way it was animated. Overall, I'd give it about an 8 out of 10.
I don't know, since I haven't seen the movie, but is it a GOOD thing that the villain isn't as villainous as others? From my experience with Disney animated movies, the villains are over-the-top and totally ridiculous. I'll be glad if Mother Gothel breaks out of this stereotype.
