“How did you get here?” exclaimed Mozart.
But before either of the dragons could reply Creamy growled at them angrily.
“Who are these creatures?” asked Jako.
“Their names are Alaya and Aliee, they are friendly dragons.” Explained Mozart.
“Dwagons?” Tansy repeated hesitantly.
“Dragons.” Fireheart mulled over the name. It held both power and nobility in it, but also terror and fear.
“How’d they get here?” asked Pumpkin.
“We flew here.”
“How did you get through Snow Valley?”
“We flew through the snow, though it was hard.”
“I wode on mama’s back den.” Added Aliee.
“And you brought them here, Frodo? Without my permission?” Ribbony said dangerously, though Mozart could see he was holding back a smile.
Frodo shifted his paws nervously, “Yes, I brought dem without you sayin’ I could Ribbony.”
“Hmm, well they’ve come all this way and this is all we have to offer? Bah! A pitiful lot I say, but I have an idea…”

It was the day Ribbony's "plan" was to be put into action. The Ventargoians had come to bid the group farewell. It was then though that Fire thought of something.
'These creatures got no leader now, and they got a ruined place to live too... I wunner....'

"Mozart," she asked aloud, "The Ventar, Ventar, Ventragoninias, er, they don't got a leader, so shouldn't we do somethin?"
Mozart told Ribbony and he shook his head, "I've considered it but there is no-one of our group that does not have a previous comitment that can stay here to help them. There will probably be a power struggle and possibly casualties but we can't really do anything about that..."
"Wha about Cla-er- Tigerheart? He don't have a previousus comitenment." stuttered Creamy.
"Yes he does, he is your father and guardian until you five are returned to your mother." contradicted Ribbony, "So you see there is none of us who can really help, and we can't take all of Ventargo to Reandalawo with us and you kits know why so do not ask if we can!"

"I don't have a previous commitment."
"Who said that?" asked Ribbony looking around.
"Me." Sanga stepped out, "I'm old enough Rib, and I'm not even part of your Catlition. I don't got a family of my own or even parents. I love Reandalawo but I think these creatures need me more'n you all do." he smiled at the kit's sad faces and added, "But don't think this'll be the last you see of ole Sanga, he'll be back for a visit or two, and iffin you're vigilant little kits you might even see him a few more times, eh?" he laughed, "So do the people rule me as a good leader?"
In response all those who were nearby sent up a cheer and naturly(sp?) others who had not heard the conversation joined in just because everybody else was cheering and so there must be something good to cheer about.

Sanga made up a fast speech right then and it went like this;
"Good creatures of Ventargo I know you have suffered a great loss and I grieve with you for it. I cannot replace past leaders, good or bad I can only be my own kind of leader. I have lived a wandering life, but if you'll have me as your leader I will wander no more. I will try to be just and kind to you but also strict and grave when I must. If there is ever a need to fight I shall be first in battle and last out. I will help you rebuild your broken town and hopefully help make it flourish again. I will labor beside you and help you with your tasks. Do not fear me for I am just like you. My name is Sanga, will you have me as your leader, Ventargoians?"
In the tradition of their people when electing a new king or leader the creatures cried out as one voice, "We will!"
Sanga smiled, "Then I shall say farewell to my friends and then begin with our tasks." he turned to the others.

"Nice speech there Sang." chuckled Caspian, "Couldn't a done better iffin it'd been written by miss Dora!"
"I'm gonna miss you all." said Sanga, "Specially after all our adventures. But what am I to do? I feel at home here and I love this place already. It feels like home."
"Just remeber to do all the stuff you said you'd do in your speech, Mr. Sanga." Silver said softly.
He ruffled her hair, "Sure I will sweetie, sure I will."
Mozart hugged him, "I'll miss you Sanga." she said.
Sanga picked her up, "And I'll miss you little Mozart."
"And hey you, imp, Sang, here." Dorthy handed him a carved bow and a quiver with eight arrows in it.
"Not as good as what mama made with mine but I did my best on this crazy journey." she said.
"You made this during our adventures?" asked Sanga in awe.
"Well I had to have something to do in that dratted desert didn't I?" Dorthy grinned.
"I'll never forget this Dorth, or you."
"Aw don't get all mushy on me you imp!" Dorthy muttered, her ears turning red.
"Keep safe Sanga." Toto said.
"I will Tote." Sanga replied, "Well you all best be on your way, and you kits be good now... well bye."

They all hugged then, with Mozart and Ribbony leading the LFF Catlition, the Fire Kittens and their friends set out.

Sanga made a nice speech.:p
Would you mind reminding me who he is? I can't seem to remember.:o

My mom wanted me to add him.:p He was her favorite of our cats and her baby for a long time so I added him in in the middle of the 1st book. He gets Mozart's foster mom and siblings to come to the rescue of Reandalawo when Shawnti and Tigerclaw were seiging it. Later he finds Shawnti and fetches Mozart to heal her from her fight with Tigerclaw.
Sanga goes with the LFF Catlition in this book to help fetch Fire and her siblings. He is quiet most of the time though since he is the oldest till Ribbony shows up with them.

Extracts from The Tale of Mozart the Meerkitten concerning Sanga.

Sanga watched from the treetops of the forest. He kept out of arrow range, but was close enough to see the goings on. He chuckled at the antics of little Mozart and Smokey, knowing if he could he would do much the same.
The young tom-cat jumped down from his perch and landed without a sound. He knew Cogg's tricks, he had watched the wolf since he was a tiny kit.
When Sanga was a babe, Cogg captured his parents, but cared not for helpless kits who could do no work. So the kitten had been left for dead. But Sanga was a survivor, and he had lived. Now he knew the forest like the back of his paw. He could materialize anywhere one moment and be gone like fog on a sunny day the next.
Sanga knew all of Cogg’s tricks. When he was a few months old, he started watching the wolf, learning from him, learning about him. And he knew that Cogg had an army much larger than this. This was his siege army, when Reandalawo was weak though, the wolf king would release a force known to those of elder days as The Army of Doom.
But Sanga liked Reandalawo. He had always wanted to live there, but was too afraid that he wouldn’t be liked to go and say hello. Yet the tom-cat, still an adolescent, felt a kind of kinship with the place and its inhabitants. In short, Sanga wasn’t going to let Reandalawo fall as Meandrao had fallen.
‘This time good is gonna win the battle.’ He thought with determination, ‘That little cat, where is she from? Saw one like her once… had the same face… a few months ago when I was roving the northwest-lands. Her mother was named… Come on Sanga think! Mirh? No Myrah, no Myrrh! Yeah, Myrrh! Now here’s what I do….’ The young cat smiled as a cautious plan formed in his mind. Silently the spotted brown young tom vanished into the forest, as if he had never been.

---------------------------

Tigerclaw had thrown off his small adversaries, and was looking quite pleased. His troops were winning over the fierce Reanlawoins. Victory was in sight, but then…
A small figure materialized from the trees. Walking onto a rise he shouted:
“Go home to your master you sniveling cowards! Leave these good creatures alone!”
“And whose gonna stop me, eh?” Tigerclaw cried back triumphantly.

“US!” A black tomcat came and stood next to his little friend Sanga. Mozart recognized him instantly.

---------------------

Sanga saw it all. The fight, Tigerclaw's blade, Shawnti's glazing eyes.
Something in the young cat stired. Would he leave this cat to die as he had been left? Or would he have pity and Get help?
His mind in turmoil, Sanga looked at both points of the subject.

'I don't think she was one who helped take my parents... though I was very small. But she's, she's, she's scum! A murder of inocent creatures! I should just leave her to die as she has left many.' but as he turned away, Sanga saw the face of a large White Cat watching him. He spoke, (or did he?) softly and kindly, but also strictly to Sanga.
"My son, you were hurt long ago by evil, but evil hurts itself. Once this cat you see before you had a story much like yours. Though she chose the evil way, you two are much more alike then you relize." the image faded as Sanga looked slowly back to Shawnti's now limp form.

Staring upward into the sky he saw a small ray of sunlight poke through the black storm-clouds. Sighing he jumped down from the tree and walked over to Shawnti's body. Pressing his ear to her chest, he listened for her heart ('If she even /has/ a heart' he thought) and heard a faint noise.
Rising, he said softly to her.
"I dunno if you kin understand me, but I'm going to get help, try not to move."

Sanga ran into the main hall of Reandalawo and skidded across the floor, stopping in front of a very surprised Flower.

"Where is Mozart?!?" he squeaked.
"Upstairs, tending to the wounded." Flower did not have time to say more, for Sanga rushed passed her and up the stairs.

Panting he reached the second level. Turning into the sickbay, he cried,
"Were IS Mozart?!?"

"Over here." came a small voice, and the tiniest kitten Sanga had ever seen emerged. She carried a little bottle of something in her paw, and wore a belt with weapons and other things on it.
"There is someone who needs your help and healing skills. I was told you can cure even the most serious wounds..."
"Nope!" came the sweet reply, "I can't heal all wounds, but I can heal most with this." she held up the little bottle.
"Then come with me."
"Hey, wait for me, shady!" cried Caspian as he ran after the two.
"My name is Sanga, not Shady, silly!" then Sanga speed off, with the two running side by side with him.

--------------------------

Sanga had watched the duel until he could see Cogg was gaining the upper paw. Then he had had enough went for Caspian. Yet he had not interfered himself because he sensed that this was something Mozart and her siblings had to finish themselves.

OK, I remember now, thank you.

You're welcome.:)

When they had come about three miles from Ventargo the group halted. Alaya and Aliee alighted in front of them. The two dragons had not wanted to frighten the Ventargoians by landing in the middle of the town (they had done so during the battle but then everyone was in too much shock to care or take notice of them) so they and the cats had agreed to meet away from the town.

"Are you ready?" asked Alaya.
"As ready as we will ever be ma'm." said Ribbony rather stiffly.

Ribbony then did something that no creature had ever done to a dragon; he climbed onto her back and held onto one of the straps that had been set there for them. Then the LFF Catlition boarded, all except Fireheart and Mozart that is.

"C'mon Mo it's time to go!" cried Caspian who was already on Alaya's back.
Mozart giggled, "You ride where you like an' I'll ride where I like!" she cried up to him. Then she ran over and hopped onto Aliee's back and helped Fire up with her.
Before Caspian could protest she cried, "Now Alaya!" and the great dragoness took off to fly high above the trees and flat plains of the valley with Mozart and Fire following on Aliee.

“Still playing lookout, Rita?”
Rita jumped when she heard a voice behind her. She turned and saw that it was Dora. Tori was at a nearby section of the wall and came over to them.

“Why yes Dora I suppose you could say that.” Replied the pretty young cat, that is she was young to Dora.
“So am I.” added Tori as she came up, “I’m watchin’ for my kits. Y’know I don’t got any here now, least you still do Rita.”
“Yes but my babies are out there just like yours Tori.”
“Well I’d hardly consider Mozart and those other three babies…”
“Well FSS were in that battle too, Tori! So keep your comments of such things to yourself! Mozart, Caspian, Dorthy and Toto are still only about four months anyway.”
“Yes and with you two hardly more than kits yourself!” exclaimed Dora.
“Why are you here Dors?” asked Tori curiously, “Playing lookout yourself watching for our kits?”
“You forget that my little brother is out there, and I must look after him.”
“I hardly think of Ribbony as little… he’s twice the size of Jako!” giggled Rita.
“Well his name is Little Ribbony.” Chuckled Dora.

Tori turned back to the wall and then suddenly gripped Dora’s leg like a vice.
“Tori, what is wrong? And let go of my leg will you!” snapped Dora.

But at that moment Missy who had been listening nearby ran over and said urgently, “Look Dora there’s something coming this way… and mighty fast and big it comes too!” Missy pointed towards a large dot on the horizon.

“What is it?!?” squeaked Tori, but Rita was already yelling out the alarm. Within five minutes the speck had grown to a substancle mass and was coming toward Reandalawo mighty quickly; but also in that time fifty warriors had assembled at Rita’s cry.

“In all my days…” began Missy but Explorer interrupted her.
“It’s a… it’s a dragon! A dragon!” he yelped.
Spectators gathered, warriors or not none could keep the civilians out of the great lawns of Reandalawo; young and old alike came to see the sight of the great dragon a creature none but a certain few there had ever seen or even heard about.

Suddenly though Flower’s cry rang out from the wall;
“Its Mozart! Its Mozart! And the LFF Catlition! And Ribbony! And FSS! And Fire and Jako and Creamy and Tansy and Pumpkin! And…” but nobody listened anymore, everyone was awestruck and yelling and screaming and trying to get onto the wall to see.

Then above all the noise and yelling there came one joint cry of many strong voices of different kinds. Some seemed more like a roar and the others seemed more homely.

“CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATLIIIIIIIIIIIITIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Over all obstacles that they had struggled over and through the cats had flown over on the great Dragons, Alaya and Aliee; flown home to Reandalawo sweet and fair to see her banners billowing in the wind once again and here the shouts of their friends and family and smell the food of their home and feel the homely floors and walls and hear the snow crunch under their paws as they walked through it.

The crowd cleared as Alaya and Aliee landed upon the snow covered lawns of Reandalawo. Their riders tumbled off of the two dragons to be greeted by friends and family dear.

But then Fireheart clambered upon Aliee’s head and the little dragon flew up a ways so that they were above the crowd, but before they were too far up Jako leapt up to join them.

“I’m a Fire Kitten too, y’know.” He said to his sister.
She smiled then turned to the crowd who now watched them.

“My friends...” she faltered.
“Our family.” Jako began for her.
“Our family.” Restarted Fireheart, “We have missed you, and everything here; Reandalawo our families and our friends. But we come bringing much news. Firstly I would like to introduce my father, with my mama’s permission that is.” Tori looked startled but nodded, “My father Tigerheart.” Fireheart said proudly.

Tigerheart stood up strait and got many odd looks and even some with anger in them. Yet Fire continued.

“I would also like to introduce my friend, Jade. She has saved my life several times and I am forever in her debt for it.” Jade blushed and hid her face but Mozart wrapped a paw around her shoulders and nodded at the Fire Kittens.
Jako continued; “And the other bits of news I’ll tell. These two good dragons are Alaya and Aliee, Aliee whom we ride on now. They chased Ribbony, Ex, Creamy I and Dora in the Dark Tunnel I hear too!” it was Ribbony’s turn to blush, “But they’re reformed now, Mozart and Frodo saw to that. The other one is that me an’ Fireheart here are Fire Kittens an’ we’ll demonstrate for ya right now what that means!” he tapped his tail lightly on one of Aliee’s scales and she hesitantly said, “You all betta get outta da way Reanylawins.” Then she opened her mouth and for a tense second nothing happened.

Then suddenly a jet of flame shot from Aliee’s mouth. It sputtered but did not go out. Fire and Jako held paws then to the horror of the spectators the pair jumped into the fire. Tori screamed.

Then Aliee stopped breathing fire. Fireheart and Jako emerged unharmed and grinning. Tori ran up to them and yelled, “DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!”

Chapter thirty two
Home again

Journal entry made by Fireheart after being instructed how to write one by Mozart;

It is two days since we arrved home at Reandalawo. Mozart says that me and her should write stories ‘bout our adventures. I tole her that I’m not good at writin’ but she said that as long as I tell her about my part o’ the adventure then she or Miss Dora will write it down.
Me an’ my siblins and Jade and Hope an Silver and their brothers are gonna become members of the LFF Catlition! We’re gonna become members today! I kin hardly wait!
Everybody is so happy dat we’re back they’ve been hinting at liddle suprises they have in store but I hope that there’s a feast comin! (Oh excuse me Mozart jus’ looked over my shoulder and corrected me by saying that everybody has been dropping little hints about the surprises)
Tori doesn’t like me and Jakie to play in the lamp’s fire. Jakie tole her it was fine ‘cause we won’t get hurt but then Misty came up and when we tole him what was happening he said, “Your mama is right kits you shouldn’t use the powers the White Cat gave ya just for playing around and having fun. No, you may need them someday but if you have only ever played with your powers then maybe they won’t work an’ you’ll get burnt instead of being fine.” Me’n Jakie thought about it and then we agreed, so we ain’t gonna play in fire no more, just use it when we need to.
Oh yeah and Dorthy was happy, we got back to Reandalawo before Christmas! So that'll be part of the feast iffin we have one, 'cause Christmas is tomorrow! I can't wait!
Mozart’s sayin I need to get downstairs, well I know what that means! So bye bye whoever will read my notebooky in the future, Bye bye!

Fire jumped up and followed Mozart out the door. The little orange kitten peered down the steps to see their siblings waiting for them. She started to step down but Mozart pulled her to the side and up onto the rail.

“You may not recall the day you and your siblings were named and the day I was knighted, but this is how we get “down to the ground” on special days!” Mozart then pushed Fire down in front of her and then slid down herself.

Hurrying to their escorts (Caspian for Mozart and Jako for Fireheart) the two she-kittens and their siblings went swiftly to the main room of Reandalawo.

Tori and Rita stood with Jako and Tigerheart off to the side. Jade joined Fire and Mozart’s procession rather shyly.

Ribbony stood up front with Braveheart, Silverpaw, Shaggy and Hope already waiting. Both Catlitions assembled on either side of the stage and Mozart stood with Ribbony in the center. Fireheart, Jako, Creamy, Pumpkin, Tansy, Hope, Silverpaw, Braveheart, Shaggy and Jade went and stood in front of them.
Little Mozart smiled and spoke softly words she thought fit for the occasion;

“My friends we gather here for a most glorious occasion. We gather here to add, officially, several members to my LFF Catlition. These are as follows: Fireheart, Jako, Creamy, Pumpkin, Tansy, Hope, Silverpaw, Braveheart, Shaggy and Jade. These are brave and strong young cats, if they accept I shall allow them to join my Catlition and be honored to have them at my side in battle and in times of peace.
“So do you young cats accept my invitation to join my Catlition?”
“Yes we do!” came the chorus of happy yells.
Mozart smiled, “Then you will be a part of my Catlition until you grow too old and graduate into Ribbony’s or that you leave or death take you.”

Cheers erupted from the crowd. But then suddenly Tori bustled up to the stage.
“As Rita held secrets about her kits so do I!” she turned to Brave, Shaggy, Silver and Hope, “You four, believe me or not are my first liter of kits! I sent you away from Cogg when I had chance before he found out about you. You were meant to be raised by one of my good friends, Rita. But that did not work out because she had kits of her own to deal with. So you ended up orphans. Please accept my apology for how this turned out and please ecept my invitation to be my kits!”
“Well then if that all had happened then we’d have never meet all these kits and had all these adventures, right?” called Hope.
“Of course we ‘cept your invitation mama!” cried Shaggy.

Much else happened that day. There was a feast as Fire had hoped and also festivies like none ever had before in Reandalawo (partly because of the dragons).

Later Fire and Mozart were alone together in the little tree-grove in Reandalawo.
“I used to come here and wish for adventures.” Fire said softly, “I never thought it’d turn out the way it did!”
“Yea, neither did I think that my adventure would turn out the way it would.” Replied Mozart softly.
“We’ll never be like other kittens, will we?”
“No I don’t think we are or ever will be.”
“But we can still be kits…. Can’t we?”
“I don’t see why not, Fireheart.” Mozart smiled.

So the two warrior kittens stayed like that watching the sun set from a treetop.
Fireheart had never been so happy.

The End
