I have watched several things on each disc several times, but have never actually watched everything on every disc. :o It's just really sad when I know exactly where something is, isn't it?????

It made me chuckle. :)

So I am reading LOTR right now, and have read it more than The Hobbit. Gandalf doesn't come into The Hobbit story a whole lot, does he? I know he is there at the beginning, but he doesn't travel with the company, right?

I wonder if Ian McKellan will be Gandalf again? He was really good in LOTR.

Hmm...it's been years since I read Hobbit. I don't think he comes into the story as much as LotR.

He is rumored to play Gandalf, but the Screen Actors' Guild still has to give him (and Hugo Weaving-Elrond) the greenlight to act in a film that isn't controlled by a union.

Legolas kinda annoys me...I used to be a fangirl of his.

We can give him another chance ;)

I used to be able to do that, I haven't had time lately ;)

Gandalf is actually in the Hobbit for about half the book. He travels with the company until they get to Mirkwood(figures ) and then comes in at the end. I think he tells them the goblins are coming.

lol, anyway I'm glad they're making this too. I posted it on facebook. xD and then I emailed it to my cousin. :D

And I stole it from you on Facebook ;)

From what I have read the plan for the film is to encorperate material from the appendices and the Silmarillion and flesh out where it was Gandalf went. We know from those that he went to a meeting of the White Council ( Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel, Radagast, Celeborn, and Saruman), so now we'll see it. It'll also help set up the idea that this ring Bilbo found may be The One Ring and that Sauron's strength is regaining.

While I grew to loath the hype around Orlando Bloom back in the day, at this point, he has diminsihed in popularity. However if Peter Jackson decided to replace him with Robert Pattinson as Legolas... then we may have a problem.

Ew, I wouldn't see Hobbit if Robert Pattinson is anywhere near it.

And the reason Orli diminished in popularity is because he chose to bow out of acting for a while. After Pirates 3, he decided to take a break from acting (and incidentally,is now married and expecting their first child).

Aww, how sweet for Orly. I hope he will come back to work for The Hobbit. And I hope the Elrond actor will be in it, he was awesome in LOTR! I think it will be splendid if they flesh out the book and make it a true prequel to LOTR. Another great film to look forward to.

Yes, at least Orli and his wife decided to wait until after marriage to start having kids.

Hugo Weaving played Elrond. ;) I think it'd be nice to see Arwen back in...maybe the Hobbit could flesh out even more how she and Aragorn met? :D

Oh, wouldn't that be lovely ... I hope PJ is thinking of all this ...

Thank you, Hugo. He did a splendid job as Elrond, although nothing like I had always imagined Elrond.

I have a feeling PJ has been thinking of a lot of different things since LotR ended. ;) I think he's always wanted to make Hobbit into a movie, but never got around to it.

The first new actors for the Hobbit cast have been announced!

Martin Freeman IS Bilbo Baggins. ( Oddly enough Simon Pegg, AKA Scotty in the New Star Trek and Reepicheep in VODT accidently spilled the beans a few days ago and ahd to retract his statement. He's actually very good friend of Freemans. Ha! Bilbo and Reep are buddies!)

Richard Armitage is Thorin Oakenshield.

Here are the rest:

Interestingy, it's sounding like Bill Nighy may be voicing Smaug. He may have lost Reep... but he could get to play the archtypal fantasy dragon. Not a bad gain I dare say. Don't get me wrong, I love Reep, but well Smaug is Smaug!

*dances happy dance* I'm so glad they're keeping Andy Serkis as Gollum. Gollum couldn't be played by anyone else! And I'm also glad that Ian McKellen is reprising his role. As a person, I dislike him. But as Gandalf.... no one else could be as good.

I hope that's right, I think it would be really cool :D

I don't like Ian McKellen either (his ripping out pages of the Bible has since made me really dislike Gandalf), but admittedly, that's his role and nobody else can really play it satisfactorily.

Exactly. I think it's kind of strange that I should dislike the actor who plays Gandalf, and be a fan of the actor who plays Saruman. It's just wrong!
