The Look of the White Witch

yeah, with the pictures we've seen, does she not look white to you people?

Nope just pale, besides with modern technology and CGI anything can be done maybe the kids would find that a little too scary, ie 'The Wicked Witch of the West' scary instead of green she's white.

i wonder if they gave her really tall high heals to make her taller for the movie?
I read that in her costume, she is over 7 feet tall! There is another thread around here about whether WW and Green lady are the same person ... I think if you search for Jadis Lady in Green or something, you will find it ...

what do you mean bye "aslan 1981"??lol
Anywho, im glad that the whole charctar of the Whtie Witch is tall, it just makes her charectar on the outside and the inside be like she is suppose to, bad, and evil. Thats so neat, about the whole 7feet thing.

I am very excited about the movie coming out and it looks great so far. However, I have one complaint, and it may seem like nit-picking, but it is bothering me.

I had always pictured the white witch as having black hair - mainly by the drawings in C.S. Lewis's book - and the look of the white witch so far is a total departure from what I had always imagined as a child.

I am very disappointed in regards to her look.

I would like to know if I am the only one who feels this way about this.

thanks,
Aslan1981

I think she looks too human. I always imagined her as being very tall, very white and very angular. I'm not sure I care for the movie's Witch either, but perhaps the actress herself is very convincing in the role. I hope so anyway.

but the thing is she doesnt look the witch we all knew about! hmm,..
looks are the ones that recognizes first, if she made an appearance of a real real witch!, she will certainly caught the audience.
and certainly, lots are disappointed! shes not even scary! :D

Come on, now! Did Jezebel have to look scary, with a warted, pointy nose, or nasty hairs growing all over her arms? Not at all! She was probably not too bad as far as looks are concerned, and before her just and timely demise, she paints her face and adorns her head.

So I say the same for the movie's Jadis. Many think that the White Witch was always with black hair, black clothes, etc., real gothic-looking (I imagine), but the movie's witch looks beautiful, ice-cold and wicked - a perfect fit (although her entire body should be snow-white in appearance).

see youve said it, that theres a but,....(4got to quote that!)

its okay to a new appearnce, but please, if its new, cant they make it sure that audience will like it? if its something new, one must wow it, not eeow it,
sorry for my critics guys, but, ill just have to see the movie first! :p
but for me, the looks lasts in the mind! :D

Walden Media is the project of billionaire Philip Anschutz, who is a devout Christian and devoted to keeping the movies true to their source. Myself, I'm witholding judgement until I see them, but early whispers are promising. I'm not so fussy about whether they lift the dialog page-for-page from the book (very difficult, and it overlooks some of the differences between page and screen), but I'm going to be watching very carefully as to whether an effort is made to honor the spirit of the stories - an admittedly much dicier thing. I dearly hope the producers do well!

I agree that a film version of the Chronicles is a success waiting to happen - the stories are much smaller in scope than Lord of the Rings, and thus more amenable to translation.

She is going to be over seven feet tall in full regalia, I read. And remember Edmund found her strikingly beautiful, so she must have looked somewhat human. I think Tilda is going to do a fantastic job.

And thanx for that interesting info, PotW.

If you go on the interactive map, and then click on the witch's castle it gives you some pictures. One of them shows Jadis' height in relation to Edmund........ she IS tall - you needn't worry about it. :)

Don't be sorry for your critiquing. :) We'd all be in a spot of we agreed on every single issue, I think (that's how greater ideas are formed). But there are some aspects mentioned (i.e. what happened to her very red lips) that may be lacking in the movie. But we'll just have to wait and see, as you say.
