The Lord of the Rings- J.R.R. Tolkien

First I saw on Time.com that in honor of the final Harry Potter film they had two lists .The first was the top 10 good wizards. Gandalf saddly came in number three. Hwoever of top 10 evil wizards, Sauron came in number 1. Kay, he's not a wizard but still, Sauron beat VOdemort....ummm....go Sauron?

And moving on to another topic. DWARVES! Pictures of all thirteen dwarves have now been released. Here is a full group rendering from TheOneRing.net....

And as to why Fili and Kili don't have full bears they were the youngest memberso f the groups and theyw ere just growing their beards.
Note, aside from Gloing they don't all look like Gimli. Also, look out Sneezy, Happy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Grumpy... Thorin and Co are comin' at ya', December 2012! I wouldn't want to meet Thorin in a dark alley

And you know, based on what I read n letters and biographies I think Tolkien would be pleased. One thing he didn't want to see was the dwarves Disney-fied and made to look like how they did in Snow White. These are the dwarves not only of Tolkien, but much like the evles of LOTR they are the warves and elves that would have been common in Northern European folklore. Not bad, I say. I can't wait to see them in action.

( And of course, buy my boxed set of the 13 Dwarfs from the Hobbit action figures.)

My parents and I were looking at the pictures of the dwarves earlier today and my dad thought that Fili looked like Legolas and Kili looked like Aragorn. I don't think he realized the pictures were for the Hobbit until I told him.:p
This is what I said:
"Yeah these are pictures for the Hobbit which, ironcally has 13 dwarves in it and only one Hobbit." xD

And then my parents named the Snow White dwarves and I was laughing so much and telling them they had the wrong movie.:p

Oh yeah! Love LOTR big time! I wasn't allowed to read the books until I was fourteen, but I read all of them before TROTK came out in theatres! I've probably read the books about four or five times, I mostly listen to the audio books so when reading I hear Rob Inglis' (the narrator) voice inside my head. :D
Narnia however, has a special place in my heart because my brother read TLWW and PC to me before I could read.

Sounds like how we raised our kids - though I can't imagine why you "weren't allowed" to read Lord of the Rings before age 14. Most of ours didn't want to, but I can't see anything there that's objectionable. A little intense, perhaps, but not objectionable.

I think my dad thought I was obsessed already from watching the Fellowship of the Ring and wanted me to calm down before reading the books. ;)

Ah. I hope you found the books delightful. I think them much better than the movies, though I do admit that Fellowship was the best of the movies, and that it is helpful for getting people to be patient with the book. Fellowship (the book) does take a while to "get started", and getting a glimmer from the movie of where things are going helps people put up with it.

I wasn't allowed to read the books or watch the movies until I was twelve when my cousin suggested them and my mom decided I could read/watch them. I had to read the books first and then watch the movies because my mom was a little paranoid I think... (she'd seen part of the first movie once and DID NOT like it or seem to understand it...)
But now I love the books and movies so... (though the books are better. Books are almost always better.).

I think I was like eleven when I first read LOTR... didn't see the films until MUCH later (it was difficult to convince my parents, who nothing about it except that it's "dark"). Now LOTR is one of my favorite books, and the Extended Edition of Return of the King is my all-time favorite movie. Now if only it wasn't so darn expensive, I could buy it and watch it more often!

LOTR...I Saw it!

I finally finished watching all the movies!!!

I LOVED THEM! And I cried my eyes out! ;)

I want the books now..I'll write more later...but just throwing this out there. ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed the movies. The books are really fantastic. You will be happy to read about more characters and get more storyline out of the books, once you start to read them.

Amazing, isn't it? Now you understand people like us better. (hehe we are awesome). And the books are even better! :D *coughcough* move over to the Inklings for continue lotr talk ;)

Sweet!! I've only watched them about 10 times now. ;) I love them!! I've even done a LOTR Marathon. That was fun! I enjoy those movies so much!! I havn't exactly read the books.....but I have listened to them! So I know what they say. :p I'm going to actually read them though!
