The Lord of the Rings- J.R.R. Tolkien

My parents and I were looking at the pictures of the dwarves earlier today and my dad thought that Fili looked like Legolas and Kili looked like Aragorn. I don't think he realized the pictures were for the Hobbit until I told him.:p
This is what I said:
"Yeah these are pictures for the Hobbit which, ironcally has 13 dwarves in it and only one Hobbit." xD

And then my parents named the Snow White dwarves and I was laughing so much and telling them they had the wrong movie.:p

That is quite humorious! :D

Ahh, Anna, your post brings me back to my days in high school when I first encountered Middle-earth. I had started reading my mom's copies the books in anticipation for the release of the first film, and by the time I saw the first movie I loved the books so much I held them hostage untill mom got me my own copies untill Christmas ( I even threatened to take them with me to college.)

Both the films and books hold a special place in my heart. Durring a rather difficult week back in college my roomate surpsied me with a LOTR EE maratho and we watched all thre parts back to back in one night. ( All night movie marathons are really only something that can be done in college with a friend or a group of friends. I've tried it again after college but it's just not the same.)

I do wish the EEs weren't so expensive!!! I'm rereading RotK and it makes me want to see the movies again... but there are always a million holds on LOTR at my library.

Have you tried searching for them on Ebay? sometimes you can get all three of them extended for $20-30. :D

I wanna get all of them, new, and that isn't cheap. I won't buy used DVDs online... if only I could find them at some garage sale for cheap, like my youth pastor. :D

It's great reading everyone's appreciative opinions on LOTR. It is truly a fantastic series of books and movies. The books are truly fantastic, and I love how well the movies are put together. There are so many wonderful characters in the books...its hard just to pick one. I do enjoy the character of Gandalf a lot, because I enjoy reading a wise-wizardly type character, so I would pick him as my favorite.

I took a LOTR class last year at college, and it was so amazing, and fun! It made me appreciate the series even more.

On Friday my husband took me to the Houston Symphony presentation of LOTR/FoTR movie on the big screen with the symphony playing the score live. It was AMAZING! Hearing the score live made you think about just how much the music sets the tone for each theme. They had a chorus and a soloist with a gorgeous voice as well. You got to thinking about the music in parts you had never noticed it before ... It was lovely. If you get a chance to see something like that, be sure you do it. The next day the Shire theme was in my head all day ...

The trilogy make up what I think may be my favorite films; I have the EE DVD's and love to watch them ... Peter Jackson did a tremendous job. And the effects are just so stunning. I cant say enough good things about the movies. Of course they came out in December 3 years running, and my birthday is in December, so for 3 years they were a lovely birthday gift/party for me. I wish they could keep coming our every December!

Now I am just rambling ...

I love the books as well. The depth of the story, the emotions and drama, the wonderful characterizations, the spell-binding conflict and the wonderful way it's resolved ... Tolkien was a genius.

Can anybody imagine our earth without these fantastic and beautiful tales? I can't. I love every aspect of it, although I am not as rabid a fan as Ferny! :D

Awwww Eomer!!! I really like him too! I always liked him in the books but never cared for his character in the movies till a while back. He is strong, loyal and very good. I really admire him

I liked Eomer in the movie, (I thought it was interesting that the actor for him was also chosen to play Docter McCoy in Star Trek 2009), He kind of reminded me of a biker though.

Oh yes Karl Urban! He did a wonderful job. It is funny how characters can change after a while. I mean fav characters. I always loved Sam in the books and then I loved Pippin in the movies but after years and watching the movies many times I love Sam the most. Nothing can beat his loyalty
