The magical New Zealand

The Antarctic centre is quite dissapointing.. I dont really think its all what its hyped up to be though. They are getting a new attraction this year.. real penguins.. my friends dad is really stressed lol.
and Narborg, Ive been here for quite a while.. just havent found this thread for ages .

And IceMaiden, the Antarctic Centre is a attraction centre.. it is nearly like a museum for the Antarctic. There are rooms where they have information and others like the snow room - which is so much fun.. where you go into this room with coats gloves on and the temperature drops to like minus 20 . Then the wind starts blowing into a snowstorm.. theres a slide an igloo and a bike thing in it . Great fun.. they also have the Hagglunds which are outside .. they are how scientists and stuff get around in Antarctica their so much fun.. and yea its all in Chch because thats where every country comes to to get transported down to Antarctica cos we are the closest country to it. haha theirs your science lesson for today . :p

ooohh, I was in the snow room and it was FREEZING COLD it was so horrible and I was so numb and shivering and had goosebumps!

I was sure they had real penguins? aNYWAY, penguins are cool! :D

I remember going to Kelly Tarltons as a little kid and thought it was amazing but when back last year and found it a dissapointment :(
Esceppialy the penguin ride, because it is soooo long! :D

never been to Kelly Tarltons.. all my friends have but not me.. yea the snow room is freezing.. thats why I always bring like 5 jumpers.. I stayed over night there for a sleepover for my friends birthday party. It was so much fun.. we went into the snow rom really late at night.. until we got kicked out by her dad :p

Kelly Tarltons is kinda cool though, cause you go underground! We went there for a class feild trip and the girls won the game! Five Girls and Five Boys had to stick their hand in ice that was as cold as Antartica and whoever stayed their longest got to pick if they wanted to sleep underneath the sharks and stingrays and fish because its like a tunnel and you sleep on the converyer belt or.... next to the lobsters and eels and all us girls heard that one girl was sleeping and she woke up with an eel in her sleeping bag and a boy was sleeping near the lobsters and woke up with a lobster right next to his face
So we choose under the tunnel and it was really cool because all these sharks and stingrays were above us! It got scary sometimes when you fell asleep then woke up and saw sharks and stingrays above you and you're just like, 'OMGOD, where am I?'

You Kiwis are making it harder and harder for me to stay here in the USA as all this talk of New Zealand is making me antsy. I want to jump on a plane now LOL :D

oh cool Kate12whisper13 ! It sounds like so much fun.. I really want to go now!! and Ice Maiden you really should. as much as it annoys me sometimes its a really cool country and you wont forget it!!

It's not sure at the moment!

I think one thing IceMaiden (???sp?) is that you will find different to America or Europe or wherever you live different to New Zealand is that we have so many trees and grass and there is just GREEN everywhere!
We hardly ever have drouts!
But at the moment it may be abit horrible in the South Island, is that power cut over yet Shattered Fantasy?
people were for days without power!

The power cut has been dreadful. I think the most hard to reach people got there power back again about 2-3 days ago. what a time they must have had.. no power for 3 weeks!! Where I live there wasnt any power outages but just down the road there were.. but I still find the power services quite to blame.. these people didnt have power for ages.. no cellphones.. no means of contact.. how bad can it get.. anyway yea it is very green. But quite breathtaking. I suggest you come to Chch if you do indeed come. I went on a drive around Rakaia.. well a little closer inland than there but anyways it was amazing, I did a double take on the battle feild.

My dad works at a school in Chch and they ( the school ) have a holiday house thing.. where students go for camp. Anyway.. at the time of filming they had a group of students up there, and one of the leaders was taking a photo of the group, on what he thought was amazing scenery and big rolling hills.. little did he know that it was the set of Narnia.. this helicopter flew over their heads and landed in a nearby feild where a person came out and told them that they couldnt take photos seeing as they were making the film.. they still have that photo .. its really cool.. Ill ask if my dad can get a copy of it... haha that probably sounds so un real but its really true . :)

I beleive you - it does seem possible!

That would be so great if you could get the photo because if it has scenery in it you can show IceMaiden and anyone else interested in visting NZ our scenery and the Battle area!

yea I think it would be a great pull factor in getitng them to come here.. Ill just ask...

he said yes.. he said they were framed on the wall .. so he will have to try and take a photo of them.. in this case they might not be the best quality. .but still they are sure better than nothing :)

edit: he actually now tells me there are more than one.. and that the man got sent a letter explaining that the one he had with the people in it wasnt allowed to me shown.. so dad cant get access to that one but he can to all the ones without the people seeing as they have less film production on them.. to me it makes sense that having people in the photo would hide more than the ones without people  some people these days... :p

I would love to go to NZ. Everyone I've talked to who lives/has visited there says it is so beautiful. Perhaps once I'm done convincing my family we need to go to England, I can get them to go to NZ.

LOL, in a few years I'll be able to go by myself and I'll just take whoever wants to come with me. But it seems great, especially from what you guys say!

honestly Kate12whisper13 :O noooooo !! my parents want to move city.. but I dont really care. I would never be able to move countrys.. ive already moved from England to here 3 years ago. to much moving gets on my nerves. :p

I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to leave Middle Earth and Narnia either. ;)

haha, as much as its amazing landscape and stuff.. we do have a few big cities and normal life.. my english friends have got something into their head that I live on a desert island with no form of civilisation.. they also have something that tells them that it is always hot.. sorry just rambling on..

IceMaiden have you decided whether you will come yet??
