I've read Eragon a couple of times and really liked it even though I haven't read a lot of fantasy books before (am I right in even calling it a fantasy book??).

My appetite is now whetted for the second book - but what shall I read in the meantime??

I've read the CoN; LOTR and some of the discworld books but I would like to hear of other faves that people have. The holidays are nearly here and I need books to help me laze away my days!

Give me some recommendations of good fantasy books.

Did you read the Prydain books? I think the first one is called "The Book of Three." It was easy reading.I don't know if it is like Eragon, what is that?

Read Wheel of Time (see thread called wheel of time) its long, but that's because there are so many characters, and he spends equal time developing all of the main character's personalities. It's by Robert Jordan

Thanks for your tip...I'm halfway through the Book of three and really enjoying it!

Sorry I never answered you about the author's name! I didn't see your post. It is a series, so there are more books. Glad you like them.

Did you read those Madeline L'Engle books, the first one was "A Wrinkle in Time"? Those are good.

I've heard that it was written by a 16 year old! Is this true or just rumor?
Yes, He was 16! and a homeschooler to boot!! Did you know that they're making a movie... it's coming out this December, and I totally can't wait!! I love Eragon!

He was fifteen when he started, published it when he was twenty-one. It's spelled ERAGON not EREGAN or whatever... and it might as well be "Inheritance" AHAHA! I saw where they were filming!!

Yep, they are going to film it in June I heard. I bought the books but haven't read them yet, because I am reading the Narnia books in my spare time.
It must be cool.
No.. they were filming it last August In Hungary Budapest on top of the mountain in my neighbor-who-moved's backyard.

So they HAVE filmed it already? Then I really should start to read now before it is in the theaters. I'm not that fast when it comes to start reading.
They've definetly started.. I hiked near the filming place... and yes, they were filming.. I could tell. So yeah, I'd get reading. :D

Hehe,I just got my mom to promise she will read the books and see the movie with me! :D

She likes sci-fi and me fantasy so we hardly ever read the same book, but I bugged enough so she will. :p

Thanks for the information. Books are in my house, so I only need to get off my lazy feet and start to read them.

They are an excellent read. A bit dull occationally. But the story line is excellent.
They will be well worth your time.
