The Series is threatened.

The movie sales might be a little on the low side, however, I just went recently to the mall. To scope out what the stores had as far as Narnia stuff.

Well, all but one store had anything. I asked the cashier how the sales were going for the toys, she said they were doing well. Even selling better then Transformers.

Hahah, transformers...:p

Well, I was at B&N today and they had bookmarks, and those looked like they were selling fine. Except, I was disappointed to see they didn't have the little medallions at the end that the LWW ones had... they just had beads. But I suppose that is irellevent. I wanted to ask, if anyone thought disney was putting LESS emphasis on PC? I kind of feel as if they are, compared to their other movies that are coming out right now... is that a loss of faith in its success, or is that faith it will suceed without the promotion...?

Hmm...interesting! I find it awesome that you went looking for toys, and even asked about the sales. What dedicated and concerned fans Narnia has! They should be kissing the ground we walk on...haha :D

Don't mock teh the Transformers. Lol.

But, Prince Caspian still is hard to come by. So, either sales are good, or not enough was produced.

Yeah, that was my feeling (see above) now I'm trying to understand the motive.... it feels like analyzing campaigns in politics. AHHH. >.<

really it does...Disney just decided that they would make more on Wall-E. And Disney also is contracted with Lucas Films doing Indiana Jones...so Disney cut Narnia with a double-edged sword!

That was almost punny!

But yes, like LWW They had a TON of adverts on Disney Channel, I remember, and though no one in my household currently watches disney The few shows and commercials I've seen- no press for PC.

And it's not about the appeal of PC coz TRUST ME, teenage girls are like... infatuated with Mr. Ben Barnes... I ought to know, I am one. :p

yes, i don't think it's lack of interest for the movies...it's just bad film release timing. Disney is just stupid. Speaking of Disney, here is a funny picture of the four on thunder mountain at Disneyland. (I aleady posted this in a different thread...in case you saw it) Anna and Will look too close for comfort. Georgie...is well Georgie. And this is a classic photo of Skandar in his akward teenage years. Skinny, lanky, braces...and just plain nerdy looking. Nothing really attractive at all about Skandar in this photo. Who would have thought that a few years later he would be hot...haha :D

These action figures are going to be huge collectors items real quick. Figures that aren't massed produced tend to become that very fast.

I already got the King Edmund 6.5 inches action figure. Now, I'll saving up for the Aslan one. Then if I'm lucky, the Minotaur.

AWWWWWW!!!

That's the cutest photo EVER! They all look so much like themselves hahahha. :p

But anyway.. I can't buy the action figures. My family is already concerned about me living in not reality. :p Just kidding. I don't have that kind of money. College, you see.

i hear ya...i'm a college going gal myself. it's tough...and i'm a single mom. yeah my parents don't think i live in reality either...whatever

Well, not yet. I'm in high school for now, tenth grade. But next year I need to start considering where I want to go and exactly WHAT I want my double major to be, and the year after that I'm a senior. -sob- And THEN it's off to either a state school or someplace far away.

But for now, my life is my parents pay for food/clothes/academic stuff, and I'm lifeguarding, doing a massive amount of theatre, and swimming.

But THIS is totally off topic.

Point is, I can't tell if Disney didn't advertise coz they felt PC would fail or they felt it could suceed w/out advertising. Or did Walden Media ASK Disney to advertise less for them, because they didn't want Narnia as attached to Disney as it is... I have no idea.

That is a good point...i never considered that maybe Disney thought PC would just do good on it's own...since it is under the category of huge epic series. Maybe they thought that there was enough of a fan base that they didn't really need to advertise it.

I wouldn't think it's lack of money, coz Disney's HUGE. They OUGHT to have enough money to advertise all their projects.

Oh, i agree it's definitely not lack of money...Disney squeezes all the money out of consumers as they can get. I went to Disneyland a few weeks ago with some friends. I happened to already have a free pass to get in, but each of my friends had to pay $59 (price includes a 10% employee discount) each for a one-day, one-park ticket. And the park opened at 9 and closed at 8pm. So they didn't even stay open late...what a ripoff. The upside is, that it wasn't a crowded day, so we only had to wait 20 minutes at the most for a ride.

Awww....I can't see the picture. Can someone please email to me? My email is jerseydagmar@tmail.com

And yes, Skandar is quite the hottie now. I annoy my friend because I never shut up about him. Course she never shuts up about Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp...

I've been once and it was ridiculously expensive but so worth it (for me anyway). I only went to MGM, Epcot, and then SeaWorld, but it was loads of fun... haha. But yes, Disney is ALWAYS trying to get money out of its' customers, so not advertising Narnia is basically shameful.

EDIT: just letting you guys know I'm steppin out of the conversation. Gotsta go catch some Z's. =]

Dude get over your self people who cant watch a good movie kill it for others
If you think somebody's opinion kills it for you or others, that's your problem, not the person expressing the opinion. I hope and expect others to disagree with me a lot of times and expressing that disagreement does not "kill" my opinion and my convictions.

^I'm sorry. I was just trying to figure out if there was a Christian backlash to the film (thus its sinking success) and if so, why? since as an outsider, Aslan seems remarkably Jesus-like. Clearly, the situation is a good deal more complicated than I could expect to understand.

As it stands, I do so hope PC sales pick up a bit. But there seems no reason to whatwith the outstanding success of Iron Man, Indy, and SnC. What, is Speedracer the only summer flop so far?

With Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda coming out, it does seem as the children's corner is completely covered already. And really, PC seems more appropriate to big kids/preteens (due to its war intensity --although it is fully without gore).

I don't think there was a Christian backlash. I think that the movie was not really what people were expecting.
I was thinking that if I had not read the books already, the movie would appear to me as just another little fantasy with no real character. This is the result of them moviemakers messing up some characters (you-know-who) and make them appear "more human". People don't like their heroes "more human". They like them superhuman. We all want to think that we want to be like so and so who is better than anyone else. In Prince Caspian, there was really no hero, because they made Peter a spoiled teen, Caspian a clueless guy who didn't really do much heroic stuff, and Aslan was just a supporting character, instead of a central one as in LWW.
We as fans can relate to a lot of the movie, but there was nothing really substantial for others. Just another battle/fantasy movie.

I think they need to make something much better and with more "meat" so to speak in the rest of the movies, otherwise, the series is over.
