O______________O

*spazzes*

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG THIS IS THE 4TH NEW TRAILER I'VE SEEN TODAY!!!! (The three others being TV spots for "The Last Airbender" :D . )

Although this trailer needs more Caspian in it. >.>

well... there is not going to be a new narnia book is there....so we just have to settle for the movies!;)
No thanks. I don't have to settle for the movies. The books are so much better. The movies are entertaining, like any other movie... the books are inspiring like nothing else.

And I am waiting for the Trailer that Paul is going to release in about one hour.

Here it is, the world premiere of the trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.* It releases on December 10, 2010 and was directed by Michael Apted, who takes the reigns from previous Narnia film director Andrew Adamson.* It stars Ben Barnes as Caspian, Skandar Keynes as...

Is it just me or does Aslan look less real in this new trailer than he did in the other movies? Perhaps they just aren't fully polished yet, but I'm having a hard time with how much of it looks like bad cg. I want these movies to be done well.

Update: Ok, so I watched it again in full screen and that helped to fix some of my issues. I do like the dufflepods so far. Hopefully the movie ends up being good and sticking to the book as much as possible. I'm not sure why they have the white witch and the older siblings in it. That is starting to bug me. The white witch is used too much in the books after the first one for some reason.

mmmm, looks good overall. Some of the graphs don't look as good as you would expect these days, and the land of the duffers looks like it might be a bit to unreal, but we will see. They also seem to have added some fighting. I thought that they would, but I don't know how well that will go down with some of the more traditionalists here.

it's AMAZING  this is going to be soooooo GREAT !!! I can't wait to see it... I'm just a bit dispoointed that the kids, and especially Lucy, look so old [for kids]... I guess that's what happens when it takes 2 years to film a movie :S But anyway, it's great !! :D

Why did they show Peter and Susan at the end when they aren't supposed to be back? Also, when Lucy (Georgie) was looking in the book it looked like Anna, which was weird. I thought Aslan would have been bigger, because Lucy (Georgie) is bigger. But, I did enjoy the trailer. I hope it is as good as they make it out to be. Too bad we have to wait until December. :p

I put this in the news thread but maybe it's better here:

1. Edmund! What are they doing to him?! Is he going to be the same spoiled brat Peter was in PC? That will be the end of Narnia films for me if they are.

2. Aslan. I was glad to see him there! But I also wanted him to be bigger.

3. Tilda. If she just turns up as Edmund's worst nightmare in that dream island, then it's cool. If she's some kind of over-arching evil that is supposed to weave all the Narnia films together, I don't like it. Who needs it? But we'll see.

4. Ramandu's Daughter. She's going to appear on this ship and give them important information! I like this because PC can fall in love with her all along the voyage, and it won't be this big rush deal at the end.

5. Lucy. Adorable as always. I think she saw Susan in the spell book because that's when she was thinking of saying the beautifying spell, which would make sense as Susan is the beauty of the family. LOVED the winter snowfall in the magicians house when Lucy is standing at the spell book. That looked magical.

6. Peter and Susan. They appeared in their Narnia clothes. What can that mean?

7. The fighting and other creatures. Looks good, I think they will probably have to fight to set the slaves free and overthrow Gumpas, which will add excitement to the story.

8. The Magician/the Duffers. Loved the magician, hard to see the Duffers so quick, but I think I am going to like them.

9. Eustace. I wanted to see more of Eustace!

10. Overall I am encouraged except for now I am HORRIFIED that they will ruin Ed's character like they did Peter's. If this happens, I will seriously not want them to make anymore Narnia movies because it will be clear they do not understand the stories.

BK, readers like Narnia because of the books, and there are plenty of us. But people who may never pick up the book can be exposed to Narnia in films. There's room in Narnia Fandom for both. :)

I reallly like the trailer i think there overdoing the white witch though in all three movies so far and i don't like the way they are messing with eds chareter about the king thing like peter did in Caspian they need to let that go we get the point they feel that don't belong in our world so to speak and Narnia there is where they belong but the trailer looks awesome and magical it looks like there going to keep the beauty spell in as well as the painting and Lucy is getting adorable and prettier as she gets older

Well, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... ;)

Oh my goddess I loved that trailer!!!!! Everything was brilliant. Reepicheep looked and sounded amazing! Aslan is majestic! I loved that bit with Edmund and the Witch - bet the ship is near that Island of Dreams when that happens. And I know that some may complain about Peter and Susan being in the trailer, and they can't be blamed for that, but I was soooooo glad to see them. The Dufflepods looked hilarious! Oh man I gotta say...that trailer made the one for Harry Potter's Deathly Hallows look sick! I was so worried about this Dawn Treader film, since Disney stupidly dumped the franchise, but it looks like good old Twentieth Century Fox is doing it right!!!! Yay!!!! YAY!!!!! I'm so happy!!!!!! :D :D :D Narnia lives again!!!!

What about the scene at Death Wather in the books. There was a bit of a power struggle between Edmund and Caspian. I think movie- Peter stole the attitude/ thunder from Endmund, only Peter's attidude was worse than what we saw from Ed in the book. I don't really have a huge issue with the whole power struggle idea. It is a bit annoying but it just feels natural to me.

I think they the feel of this power struggle could be different here. I think Edmund wants to help rather than be noticed and relive former glories. His "I'm a king" line feels a bit more like "I'm a king and kings shouldn't be helpless during a war" rather than "I'm a king and I deserve to be treated like royalty" I think it comes from feeling completely powerless rather than being power hungry and prideful.

I also think the Death Water thing could be done without damaging the character. In that it's more a thing of "don't treat me as small or inferior, Caspian! We are equals IF not, I am your superior. Whereas movie movie- Peter was more like "I am the boss! Step down and let the pros handle it Caspian. We're not equals. Your opinion doesn't matter at all."

I think there is hope, for those of you who didn't like PC, that this will not be a total repeat.

Overall I love the trailer!!!!! Can't wait to see the movie!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a good point, Chisha, as long as they don't overplay it. In fact, there's a lot more argument for a king-on-king conflict between Edmund and Caspian at Deathwater than between Peter and Caspian anywhere.

I share a lot of Ink's sentiments regarding the trailer. I didn't notice anything egregiously out-of-place, except perhaps the glowing person on the deck who soars away into the air (Lilliandil, I presume? Ramandu's daughter?) What she's doing on the Treader at all, much less before they reach the Island, is going to take a bit of explaining. Other than that, nothing looked tremendously out-of-place. Edmund's bit of petulance in England about "being a king" will have to be viewed in context - it makes a difference whether it rises out of a frustrated desire to serve (Narnian) or frustrated desire for deference (not Narnian).

The bit with Jadis puts me a bit on edge as well - I share Ink's hope that the film makers don't try to make her the omnipresent Evil Engine of the Narnian world. Tilda did a stellar job as the original, and though the scene in Caspian was pushing it a bit, I don't think it went over the edge. But if they overplay it in Treader, they risk ruining it. We'll see.

I can understand a bit of the impetus here. In the book proper, Edmund almost disappears as a character. Skandar has done such a great job of making Edmund a lovable person with whom people connect that it's natural to want to do lots with him. I hope they "play him up" in more story-appropriate ways, such as the retaking of the Lone Islands (which has lots of room for development), Deathwater (which could safely be expanded without ruining the story), and Dragon Island. There's no need to drag in elements alien to the original story.

Speaking of Dragon Island, I was a little concerned that I didn't see any snippets that seemed to be drawn from that. But I'm reserving judgement - that would also also probably be the most special-effects heavy part of the story, so that segment may still be in the CGI foundries getting developed. I sure hope they don't short-shrift that: the events on Dragon Island are far more important to the story and the development of the character of Eustace than what happened on the Island of the Dufflepuds.

So, I'm interested but far from gushing. We'll see how things play out.

Saw the trailer and all I can say is I like it as a movie so far but am not quiet warm yet.
What is it with Edmund all of a sudden saying he is a King?
What are Peter and Susan doing in there?
Why is Jadis there?
Is it another try to make the movie look like a spectaculair fantasy movie than a part of the Chronicles?
Well we see in december for ourselves. I know I will like it as a movie on it's own just like PC but I doubt I can see it as a part of the Chronicles
