The Wheel Of Time- Robert Jordan

you couldn't control Nyneave if you were to teach her a lesson. She'd not do it just because you told her too. thats why i got Ahviendha, i just piss her off into doing something, lol.

She only has the heart for Lan and you know it. You lost buddy, besides he is a romantic at heart with a story wrapping him up in mystery, beat that.

I heard from a friend that The Wheel of Time was coming out with a TV series. I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard about this. And if so, who is making it, and when will it air?

Really? I have not heard of such rumors, though i do know of a computer game based on the novels. That is already made i believe. Now a tv show, that is something to think about. As well, the movies would have to be quite large to show the scope of such a series. If the money was there, it could be quite neat indeed. Though of course the right cast and the right director would be needed.

I think the movies would be too long to be able to do them all, what with all the charactor development and the various storylines going on at the same time, it would be hard to do a movie properly. I think thats why they chose to do a TV series. and this video game; I knew this would make a great game from when I first read it. What kind of game is it suppose to be?

TV Series...
Hmm... it COULD work... but the amount of work needed to stop it turning cheesy would be... horrendous...
Mind you, the first few books ain't THAT bad... it's later on that they go all crappy...

It would never work - how on earth would you get to know all thwe characters!! Theyd have to change the plots loads and that would be awful.

Hmm... true...
But a TV series of the first book? That might work... It'd have to be fairly long, but it'd be possible.
A film however... you're absolutely correct. I've seen the film version of Dune, which sucks a horrendous amount. I've also seen the series, which, while it has A LOT of problems, which is bound to happen in book-to-screen translations, it is very close to the book, and the feel of the book.

But on the whole though... I don't think things should be translated from book to film. Books are so much better.

I like it when they create a book-to-screen version of anything because it gets the regular people who never read books interested in the books, get people intreseted in the wonderful masterpieces of humankind. And I know this will happen with the Narnia books!

the only problem with that is now when i read harry potter after i saw the movies first i picture the characters i saw first. So i'm happy with having read all of them so it will be interesting to see some of the new characters and all. See how they fit with my imagination and everything.

We will have to see though. I've always thougth that the new jedi order series would make for a kickin tv show.

For those who are Wheel of Time fanatics and don't know this yet, Book 11 of the series, entitled "Knife of Dreams" will be out Oct 15. The cover of the book is below. Do you think this is a good cover? What do you think will happen in the 11th book? (Remeber, if you are going to spoil another book, notify us with a **WARNING SPOILER ALERT!!** or something like that. Thanks :D)

Wwwoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! I'm so excited - get in!!!!!!!! I keep forgettin its name - Knife of Dreams - ok got it now!

Hmmmm........ book 10 ended horribly - i hope its sorted out quickly in this one!!

I think on the front its perrin, berelayn and two of the others from that storyline - what do you guys think............ wait - you can olny answer that if youve read to book 10!

Ha ha, i have not really thought much of it, but i have always thought that the covers were terrible in this series. The artwork makes it look cheesy, but the books kick arse. So yeah, now i know the name and cover and i knew it was october, just not when.

tg

PS so thanks man

Well - I'm not sure about in America, but they stopped doing those covers after book 7 in England. Now they have posh, swanky covers that are just black with the 'Wheel of Time' symbol on, in a different colour for each book. I think it was to try and disassociate the books from the traditional geeky fantasy literature stigma...

I actually always was quite fond of the original book covers... I especially liked the way they drew up soldiers, all in their 17th century style armour despite the series being set in an age without gunpowder or anything like that... One of the few quirks in the series I enjoyed.
The front cover is probably Perrin, Berelain and Gaul, and... erm... someone else... maybe the leader of Berelain's guard or something? (Hehe, I know I haven't read book 10, but I still thought I should answer...) Of course, the Berelain thing's tricky to tell... the number of women described in the series as being beautiful and having black hair, you'd think that 90% of the people west of the Aiel Waste were like that... ;)
