"Oh crap," he said pulling her into a hug, "I...please don't cry." he was compleatly obliviouse to why she was crying but he couldn't stand the sight of it. it was too sad. he was the guy who tried to make pwople smile

Lizzy swallowed back her tears. She tried to slow down her heart rate so he wouldnt notice, but she couldnt, not when she was this close to him.

She sighed. "I said I didnt want to talk about it." She said pulling away. She sat down on the curb. "I'm sorry it's just all so overwhelming sometimes."

"Wha-" but he stopped himself. he wanted to ask her what ws over whelming? what was scaring her so much that her adrnilin would make her heart pump so quickly? but he didn't. he just sat down beside her in silence.

"I'm not scared." She admitted under her breath. "Sorry for being a downer. You know, I did beat you back there." She said half smiling at him. "You dont always have to be the best." She said teasing.

He too sighed and rolled his eyes. what was wrong with her? it was killing him that she wasn't telling him. they had been frineds for so many years now and this ws just strange. he started to quietly beetbox...something he did when he ws confused, frusterated or just trying to fill empty air space.

"I know you're frustrated." She said. "Trust me though, you dont want to know." She said. "It doesnt matter anyways." She said and forced a smile to try and convince him.

"Why don't you just tell me and let me be the judge of that instead of assuming that I won't..." he snapped and then took a deep breath, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap like that."

Her eyes teared up and she stood up, "Fine!" She said. "I cant get you out of my head James...I dont know how to say it. I guess I like you. I told you wouldnt want to know, and now everything is going to be weird. I'm going back to The Dragon." She said and turned around.

Lizzy went into The Dragon, and lost herself in the crowd. Dancing was her therapy, nothing else seemed to matter when she moved. She still couldnt shake this, he was way to important for her, and for all she knew he was gone, repulsed.

After a moment James got up and went back to The Dragon. he wasn't going to let her go home alone...he wouldn't have before he knew what he did and he wasn't going to now. he walked into teh overcrowded club and went up to the balcony overlooking the dance floor. it didn't take him long to spot Liz and he leaned against the railing just watching her. she had been his best frined for so long and he desperatly didn't want that to change. He watched her dance with other guys and even wished that he felt jealousy but there was none. just the protective instinct that would have flaird up in a brother. could he will himself to like her like that? for her sake and eventually for his sake and their friendship? he would do everythig he could to make it work...to make thier friendship survive but he wouldn't lie to her. that much he refused to do.

After about an hour Lizzy slipped out of The Dragon into a dark ally. She shuddered and pulled her jacket over her. She was completely alone now, she had successfully ruined the only thing she clinged these days, the thing that kept her going. She sighed, there was nothing worth staying here for now. She loved the others, but now that James knew and obviously didnt feel the same way she knew she couldnt face him everyday. She thought of her options. She suddenly heard a man behind her and began to walk quicker.

James searched the crowd from his perch...where was she? had she slipped into teh bathroom. he moved to teh lower level and asked a girl to check for him. she came back assuring him that she wasn't in there. he felt a knowt forming in his stomach. had she really gone home alone in the dark? he ran out of teh Dragon but stopped. which direction would she have headed?

Lizzy walked quickly onto the street that ran in front of the dragon. The guy behind her grabbed her wrist and spun her around. She struggled to get away and screamed. He hit her, which broke of her scream. What did it matter anyways? She had nothing anymore. She struggled less and less trying to hold onto conciousness.
