VoDT in 3-D?

I realised the past week that the reason I can't see 3D is because I don't have very much depth perception because of how my eyes have developed to work together... Didn't realise I saw THAT different to your average person. Pretty sucky - but also all the more reason for 3D to not take over! There had better be lots of showing of the film in normal view, and to all other films!

Like I said in one of my previous posts, 3D isn't natural, hence why so many people report headaches watching 3D. If you think about it, when you focus on something either near or far, everything else looks just the same, meaning nothing else in the environment is blurry or closer/farther looking. I hope this 3D craze goes out soon.

Ditto no particular desire to see 3D here.

The movie theater is for 2D (or do they call NORMAL movies something else now?) films. If they want to extend beyond the big (and flat) screen, well, isn't that what theme parks are for?

I frankly I want to see the VODT in 2D first. I haven't seen a 3D film in a decade. My eyes are very sensitive and I'm afraid the three demensional experiance might strain them or give me headache.

I want to see DT in 2D first as well. That way I can see everything clearly. If I see it in 3D, it'd be the 2nd time. But I don't know yet if I ever want to see it in 3D; just doens't appeal tome.

I've been curious about the push towards 3D, It's like the trend of switching to High Definition. Sure It's innovative, or It's different, but I'm not quite ready for a change. I'm content and happy with the way things are. :)

Oh I agree, I love High Definition, Its crystal clear. However I doth not see a major difference between 720p and 1080p. XD

720p is better for fast-moving things like sports, where the lack of interlace reduces motion blur. But on carefully-shot slow-moving stuff (like many nature shows, most performing arts, typical PBS fare), 1080i looks better. 1080p would have the advantages of both, but with requiring double the signal bandwidth, it is currently unbroadcastable.

Thanks for the thorough explanation, now I can pass it on to my technically challenged family members. :)

I have to disagree with you there. 3D is natural, because our world is 3D, but I agree that the tv 3D isn't natural. However, when one focuses on one point, that is the only point that can be seen clearly. One may remember the sharpness and think everything is clear, but in reality it isn't. Our eyes are so specific that we have to shift from one dot to the other in a colon in order to see each clearly. If anyone wants a detailed explanation, get 'relearning to see: improve your eyesight naturally' by Thomas r quackenbush. It explains a lot about eye focus and shifting.

I personay like 3D, but I can't diffuse(try and see everything clearly at once) otherwise I do get a headache, but when I centralize and shift(only see one small point clearly at a time, and constantly change points) it's amazing, and it's an absolute wonder to watch a movie in 3D, which is why I'm really excited for VotDT in 3D.

That's why I'm apprehensive to see movies in 3D, my eyes are very sensitive. I also fear that I will get head ache. However I do intend to see the VODT in 3D, that is after my first viewing in 2D. :D

I love 3-D films, when they are done right. Avatar-perfect, Toy Story-good, Clash of the Titans-bad, Guardians of Ga'hoole-perfect. It all depends on how well they convert the footage. I saw the VDT trailer when I saw Toy Story 3, and compared to the the Ga'hoole trailer, the 3-D is pretty bad. Though I was impressed with the part with Lucy looking at the spell book, everything else I wasn't as impressed with. If the 3-D is good then VDT can be magnificent, all it needs is a little work, and then VDT will be just that.

3D works best when the film is made in 3D. Films converted to 3D post-production usually don't turn out so good...

I'll be watching VODT in 2D.

I agree with you Sven-El. I have read Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and it is alright for that to be in 3-D. But Narnia does have real-aspects in it, along with the fantasy. I too want to feel like I can walk into Narnia and not have glasses on while enjoying the experience of going into Narnia once more. It is really distracting to have it 3-D, because your paying more attention to the effects rather than the movie.

I think I saw that it will be in 3 and 2-D. If that is the case I defintely will be seeing it in 2-D, just to get that real non 3-D version and enjoy it better without having things pop-out at you. I mean just because 3-D became big with Avatar...doesn't mean everything has to be in 3-D. I never saw Guardians of Ga'Hoole, but I have read the bookw. I didn't even know they made a movie of it.

if they don't make the film in 3D then they don't bother about a lot of effects of things popping out at you ... so when it's converted, there's no real value to the 3D. i wish they would not cheapen the film that way ... it won't have any 3D bells and whistles, so why muddy the waters with the 3D conversion?

*coughTheLastAirbendercough* ;)

But, I'm still planning on seeing VODT in 3D. I've always wanted to see what Narnia would look like in 3D. I'm actually a sucker when it comes to 3D movies, sad I know. :p

I used to be, too! But now that everything comes out in 3D, it's not as fun anymore. Especially as there's no guarantee it will be any good. :(

Well Im not too crazy about the Hollywood 3D craze this days but this movie apparently has been filmed from the get-go in 3D just like Avatar and Toy Story so it might just work out fine after all. The teaser trailer looks good so far, we shall see.
