Voyage on DVD

In spite of any shortcomings, real or otherwise, I am very much looking forward to the dvd being released. It's a great pity that there is no lamb in either the theatrical version or on the dvd, but it is often the case, when a book is adapted as a film, that scenes are missed out. For example, in 'The Lord of the Rings', the whole episode of the scouring of the shire is omitted from 'The Return of the King' although J.R.R Tolkien himself stated that it was an essential part of the plot forseen from the start.

The Scouring of the Shire was my favorite part of the book, but I agree with Peter Jackson that it wouldn't work in the film. Not only was it long enough, but The Lord of the Rings was criticized for having "too many endings". Imagine how that multiplies when you add the Scouring.

That is one of the reasons PJ didn't have Shelob's Lair in The Two TOwers (not to mention, it didn't exactly fit in with the timeline of the books anyway), nor did he have Return of the King (theatrical) open with the deaths of Saruman and Wormtongue. Did you know that some people walked out of the theater after Frodo's line, "I'm glad to be with you Samwise Gamgee. Here at the end of all things" and after the screen blacked out???

But back on topic. I hope Netflix's dvd includes hte blooper reel and deleted scenes. That's all I'm really interested in seeing.

Nice banner, Aravis Kenobi! I do hope they see each other again in SC.

VDT is still in cinemas. I want to encourage people to continue supporting it, so we can have SC. In the DVD I hope they include interviews with the actors and others. I like to hear their thoughts about the film.

Going tonight with friends :D

I'm just glad it's coming out, and a day after my birthday, so it will be my gift to myself haha :)...deleted scenes and bloopers are always a plus.

I normally wait to pick up DVD's some months, up to a year at times, because the price drops below even the first week sale price.

However, in support of encouraging another Narnia film I will be picking up Voyage of the Dawn Treader when it comes out. I really enjoyed the film. I was hesitent to see it after Prince Caspian didn't really do it for me. Glad I decided to go. The film is just hitting the $1 theaters in my area and I'm going to catch it one more time that way as a show of support as well.

Bring on The Silver Chair...or Magician's Nephew depending on what I'm reading about the 'net!!!

I'm still torn over which edition I'm to get. The Blu-ray looks wonderful and has the best cover, but will look strange and short next to my Disney DVD releases of the first 2 films...

Hey, folks

Yesterday I preordered the 2-disk DVD from Amazon for something like 40% off ($21 instead of $35)

I was thinking of holding off for an extended version, but finally decided "what the heck" I just had to see the movie a few more times sooner rather than later.

Even though I think it could have been done better, I'm eager to dissect and analyze, consider just how it could have been done better, etc.

Demos

My curiosity lyes with this Animated Narnia short cartoon, they have listed among the bonus features. I'm going to assume it's CGI , apposed to 2D animation. But, what is it about? Compiled of unused footage? Reepicheep Adventures? Hmmm...
I just hope it's better than that so-called animated short on the Enchanted DVD, which looks like some kid took cardboard cut outs and moved them around.
