I voted LWW. It was the first one I read and captured my imagination right from the start. :)

Tarkaan, I would have thought you would go for TLB, with so many Calormenes in it ...

John, I thought that was the opening paragraph of PC, the film version ... :)

I like LWW best, even though they are all good. When you hear the word, "The Chronicles of Narnia", you think of four kids finding a world outside of their own. That's the story LWW tells.
I also like The Horse and His Boy.

Tentatively, The Silver Chair. I'm torn between that and The Horse and His Boy. LWW and TLB are both very good as well, but I like the flow of the first two.

Well noted Oh judicious mod. Long may you continue to abide in a state of bliss. Unfortunately TLB did not show our nation in its best light. The Apostate and incompetent fool Rishda (who merits not the title Tarkaan) brought disgrace upon us.

He failed to slay the barbarian king whilst the oaf was in his power and began his own downfall by his accursed heresy. I can only conclude that our empire, in those last days, was in sore need of better men.

Have not many poets proclaimed in despair "You just can't get the staff"?

LOL. No one says it better than you, chief. :)

I think maybe people like best the book they read first, because it introduces them to Narnia. But I hate the order the books are published in, now, because it encourages people to read TMN first, and then the magic of "Who is Aslan?" is lost when they read LWW :(

The lion the witch and the wardobe! after it comes Prince Caspian.;) my least favorite is magicians nepwhew, that on is really bad! :/

The only bad thing about TLTWTW is that one is TO SHORT (well if you ask me all the books should have been very long). I think Lewis colud have wrighted more detailed :/

Here is my favorites. I have also gave them a score (1-10) ;)

1. The Lion the Witch and the Wardorbe (10)
2. Prince Caspian (8)
3. The Silver Chair (7)
4. The Last Battle (6)
5. The Horse and his Boy (5,5)
6. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (4,5)
7. The Magicians Nephew (1)

This list is just my personal favorites and has nothing to do with my opinion on which book is the best.

1. The Silver Chair
2. The Magician's Nephew
3. The Horse and His Boy
4. Prince Caspian
5. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
6. Voyage of the Dawn Treader
7. The Last Battle

Tough choices - I love them all in their different ways, but I think I rank them as follows:

1. The Last Battle (favourite)
2. The Silver Chair
3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
4. The Horse and His Boy
5. The Magician's Nephew
6. Prince Caspian
7. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (least favourite)

Interesting to see that my choices certainly don't seem to match the prevailing view ... the story of my life!

PC and TLTWTW at the last places! :O
they are my favorites! ;)

I don't like PC because of the romp and the schoolchildren and the man turning into a tree at the end.

LWW I can never decide where to put it, perhaps above PC and perhaps even above MN, but there are a number of continuity errors both within the book and between that book and others. I suppose, since LWW was first, I should perhaps put the blame on the sequels, but I just don't find LWW as exciting as the others.

2. Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
3. Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

5. Silver Chair.
6. Magcian's Nephew and Horse and His boy are tied for this place.... I guess I'd put HHB if I have to pick.
