Vissarion says to Verragoe:

"In my own world, we never encountered any of these tentacled things that WEREN'T evil. But while it still was daylight, and while Jade was studying the latest monster I had killed, Ivan and I did some exploring. We met a sort of powerful evil elf who was an enemy of Ivan's, but he left because he couldn't harm us for the present. And Ivan saw a creature come right out of a wall of the castle."

"That's right," Ivan takes up. "It was shaped like the tentacled cuties, except bigger, and with a sort of hands instead of plain tentacles. It had to have seen us, but it offered no threat. It went in the direction of the natives. Vissy here told your friends that he thinks the one with hands may be friendly to people, even a protector to the natives."

"Very interesting. Where we're from Meri is the only one who can phase through anything. There is a type of intellegent fungis that can phase through solid things, to get away from predators. But it cant phase through fire and water unscathed like Meri can. Maybe and hopefully this creature is like that. Otherwise if it did pose a threat we are in deep trouble my friends..." she looked up into the sky and saw the cresent small moon. She was glad it didn't give off alot of luminiation. "Oh did any of you noriced if Meri was wearing her gloves?" Verra said with worry (and yes she was wearing them).

Once Verra gets reassurance about Meri's gloves, Vissarion tells her, "These creatures live in what you would call a phased condition as their NATURAL state, unaffected by ANYTHING in the material plane. And from there, they can reach out to influence persons not under God's protection. The only reason they have so frequently exposed themselves to danger of death by becoming solid, is because they want to kill me, but they know I enjoy divine immunity to having my personality taken over by them or anyone. They hate me for opposing their plans to be worshipped as gods; they hate me so much that they keep risking death--and so far, GETTING death--in the hope of slaying me. They could overpower me if three or four could come against me at once; but so far, God has never ALLOWED them to materialize more than one at a time in a given place."

"You're God sounds alot like Siad. I wonder if They are the same? But anyways, good, she has her gloves..." She saw that they didn't quite get why the gloves were important, "Oh, ugh you've noticed how she's bundled from head to toe right? Except for her face of course, she's got a cream for that. Well Meri can't be in too much light, or else she literally fades away, losing conscienceness as she does. She can stay invisible for a short while, with recolition of what happened, but it is theorrized that she will die if she was invisible for too long. Anyways I wanted to make sure her gloves were on so it wouldn't look like her hands were missing if these natives have firelight."

"Now, you're God. Does he protect all of us? Or just you? Siad, I know, is watching over me and Jade and Meri, but he rarely intervenes when we go up against a foe. Why does this God protect you?"

(ooc if you're wondering about Jade and Meri Im trying to come up with everything)

Vissarion replied to Verra: "Since there only CAN be one Supreme Being over all possible realities, if by 'Siad' you mean Him, then your Siad surely is the God Who is known in my world by several names including Esham-yl-Teyn. He protects all who serve Him, but reserves the right to decide HOW MUCH protection He will give. After all, each of us is INTENDED to enter eternity at some time."

"Some a lot more painfully than they should have," grunted the nearby Ivan.

Vissarion continued, "I understand that while I was away from you others--which was my attempt NOT to draw danger onto you--some of your party suffered intangible attacks on your minds. That could have been the work of the tentacled ones. Your being here now shows that, if not intervening directly, Siad saw to it that you would be able in some way to defend yourselves.

"The monsters are not allowed to attack me spiritually, only physically under conditions in which I have a fair chance to kill them. Ivan had no means of preventing one from taking him hostage; but God saw to it that I succeeded in saving my odd friend. So far, none have ever come upon me in my sleep; this doubtless also represents God's care for me, since THEY certainly would not hold back in any consideration of fighting fairly!

"As for WHY God actively protects me, it is because my home world is full of evil sorcery, and I am one of His servants who combat it."

"I see," she said, "well then, I'll have to tell you the stories in which Siad has protected and saved me...but I think it should be best to remain quiet for now. See if we can hear anything that might happen with the natives."

Vissarion takes to quietly gathering fallen tree branches and leaning them against the exterior wall of the castle in two separate places; one of the lean-to roofs thus begun is larger than the others. "Fewer males here than females," he whispers to Lisbeth. When the skeletons of shelter exist, he starts collecting long weeds, like Earthly foxtails, and weaving them in as a sort of thatch. Darron soon is helping him.

Lisbeth smiled at Vissarion's remark and then turned to looking after Kate, who wandering about and poking a long stick into a rather deep hole in the ground.

"Vissarion, Sir," Darron said, "I - well I was hoping if maybe you could answer some questions that I had."

"Son," said Vissarion, without ceasing to work on the shelters, "you must at least have HEARD OF people believing that there is a living, intelligent power that created all worlds and all living things. 'God' is a general term for this Being, Whom the three super-ladies know as Siad.

"Because He is the Creator of all, He must of necessity contain in Himself all possible GOOD qualities, or else how could He GIVE those qualities to created beings? If you were to study evil as I have, you would come to understand that every evil thing is only a distortion of some earlier good thing. So God does not contain evil, but evil is so inferior that it has to 'borrow' things FROM Him.

"In making us, God gave us the gift of free will. This makes us responsible for our actions; and with our actions having REAL moral significance in the universe, He cannot simply pretend that our bad actions never happened--not if He wants the universe to have any moral order. But with our consent, he can TURN US AROUND--bring us OUT OF past evil ways. And He would always rather change evil souls into good ones, than have to punish them."

Darron was quiet for a time after that. He had heard of people believing in God before, but no one had ever really told him about that God. Finally, he said, "I don't want to be the way I am; but I never thought that there was a way out. I wanted to change, but I didn't know how."

Now Vissarion did pause his work for a moment, placing a fatherly hand on Darron's shoulder. "Although He normally does not overrule our free will by force--which He could--God pays very close attention to our thoughts, none of which are ever hidden from Him. If in your mind you even START wishing to be set free from wrong things, He will be aware of it, and He will begin to help you onto the right path. In fact, He HAS begun helping you--by secretly nudging your heart to go ahead and ask about these things.

"In my world, I was once a selfish bully. But God forced me to endure situations in which I was the one who was helpless and afraid--so that afterward I would have compassion for the weak. He changed me where I needed changing, and He can do as much for you."

Darron's eyes wandered over the landscape as he thought. "Thank you, Sir," he finally managed to choke out.

Kate bent over the large hole she was poking into with her stick. Lisbeth watched her, standing quite close to be sure that the girl didn't fall in.

Vissarion went over to Verragoe. "In case your friends take a long time, you and I will need to decide between us which of us stays on watch at what times, to protect the others. Maybe that woman Pyralia can also stand sentry; do you know how much she can do?"

"Actually no," Verra said, "I haven't even really got to know any of them yet, except maybe Lisbeth. But I think she'd be fine as a sentry."

Meanwhile....

Jade held onto Meridia as they entered the bushes. Just like Vissarian's report no one was on watch duty. She looked around to see if she could identify someone of importantce. And she did. A tall braodshouldered woman in her early twenties, was decked out in pearls and silver, where as the others wore common clothing.

"I need to get closer to hear them," she said to Meridia.

She phased through the bushes and a few trees, nearly in sight of the natives, but not quite. Still the bushes kept their cover.

"Hamah gunt miekk," said one of the common people.

"Nonocive miekk," said the woman of importance.

That was all Jade needed to know their entire language. In her mind she put together all their possible dialects, their grammer, and spelling. She evn could pick up their soft and soprano accent.

"What did they say?"

"When will food come," Jade said, "and soon for the food."

"Now should we introduce ourselves?"

Jade nodded. She went first out of the bushes holding Meridia's hand. When she knew she was seen, she smiled and waited until the woman of importance, a princess perhaps, noticed her as well.

OOC: "Food"? Uh-oh, I think we would all have been better off if Lady-of-Narnia had acted on the invitation to decide the nature of these natives herself! I have a feeling that we're about to find out that the natives consider US to be food....

(ooc no... lol I was thinking more of the lines of a bad harvest year...lol thats why they want food)
