Slice of India in Narnia animation

The box office topper The Chronicles of Narnia has won the hearts of children and adults alike, the world over. But did you know that some of the animation was worked upon in India?

Mumbai-based studio, Rhythm and Hues India collaborated with their LA-based parent company to work on the film.

They worked on shots that needed camera tracking and character match-moving. But this is not just another instance of outsourcing.

“Our artistes work hand in hand with the LA company. They worked on every shot together, so it’s a collaboration in the true sense,” MD Rhythm and Hues India Prashant Buyyala said.

“For over 18 months we worked on 200 plus shots. As far as the difficulty of the shots goes, well if it’s very difficult a single shot can take around eight to nine weeks,” Director of Operations, Rhythm and Hues India Saraswathi Balgam said.

A team of over 50 experts in Mumbai worked on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The studio meanwhile has already started work on Superman Returns, Garfield 2 and Charlotte’s Web.
