Buena Vista Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (Royal Edition) for 20th November 2006. This limited edition, four-disc set is “beautifully packaged” and contains an extended version of the film with nearly half-an-hour of never-before-seen extra footage.
You can also discover how the battle scene was created in a special featurette, exclusive to the Royal Edition. ‘Behind the Battle’ is just one of the many exclusive extras on the four-disc set that offers an unprecedented insight into the making of the film. There is also an in-depth look at the creator of the Narnia series C.S. Lewis and the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the production team in over three hours of additional bonus material. Once you have enjoyed the bonus features, you can also read all about the magnificent creatures of Narnia in a 12 page brochure that is included in the set.
The Royal Edition is also available in a highly collectable limited edition gift pack, which is specially packaged and also contains a pair of intricate bookends featuring the delightful Lucy and her good friend Mr. Tumnus. The bookends were designed by the Weta Workshop, who also created many of the stunning visual effects that helped bring Narnia to life.
Paul: Nearly half-an-hour of never-before-seen extra footage? This is the first that we’ve heard that it might be more than just 10 minutes more added to the film. With these conflicting reports, we wonder which is the fact, and which is the fiction. All in good time, all in good time.
