FILMMAKERS have cast their eyes over the Redlands for potential locations in the next Narnia movie.
Redland Shire Council this week revealed Disney Pictures was interested in using Cleveland Point or Wellington Point in its production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is expected to be filmed next year.
The Australian Film and Television Commission, which was involved in the location scouting, has refused to confirm any details because no arrangements have been finalized.
However, a report presented to the council’s planning and policy committee meeting on Wednesday said the film’s producer, director and key staff visited Wellington Point and Cleveland Point in September to look at sites.
The report said if Cleveland Point was used, a 60m long by 50m wide pier would have to be constructed, along with a 20m wide by 40m ramp.
The Dawn Treader set, a 40m vessel, would be attached to the pier.
Filming would take place between June and September and about 400 production crew would provide a boost to the local economy, the council report said.
Any damage to the parks would be “fully repaired” by Disney at the end of shooting.
