Aussie Actress Laura Brent cast as Ramandu’s Daughter in Dawn Treader

Laura BrentThe Voyage of the Dawn Treader‘s cast keeps filling up as they’ve cast the role of Ramandu’s Daughter in an Aussie actress called Laura Brent. She’s an actress that has been in some small roles, but there was likely something particularly special about her that caught the eye of the casting director. She’s likely another up-and-coming actress, having appeared in an Australian tv series called Chandon Pictures and a small role in the film Message from the CEO.

From the book:
Before them, beyond the pillars, there was the slope of a low hill. And now a door opened in the hillside, and light appeared in the doorway, and a figure came out, and the door shut behind it. The figure carried a light, and this light was really all that they could see distinctly. It came slowly nearer and nearer till at last it stood right at the table opposite to them. Now they could see that it was a tall girl, dressed in a single long garment of clear blue which left her arms bare. She was bareheaded and her yellow hair hung down her back. And when they looked at her they thought they had never before known what beauty meant.

  1. Laura Brent seems like a good choice for Ramandu’s daughter! But I wonder what people are going to think of Susan/Caspian and Ramandu’s daughter/Caspian.

    • Sorry, I was filming all day. I have other people that can post news, but I’m the primary news poster. I’m going to be recruiting more soon. There will be an application process.

    • The good thing is that Susan doesn’t appear in Dawn Treader and Ramandu’s daughter is in the book. I guess it also depends how that whole situation is filmed. Can’t wait to see it.

  2. i really hope this girl is a good actor, and i hope she is as beautiful her pic. wow that will be kind of awkward after the whole Susan kissing Caspian. i just can’t wait till the movie comes out.GO DAWN TREADER GO

  3. I can’t wait to see how she turns out! She’s one more actress to add to the making of book! Can’t wait to read about her! 😀

She looks perfect for the role. Blond, fair, pretty. She’ll make the perfect wife for Caspian!
Susan wouldn’t have been quite as good I don’t think.

  4. yes she does look perfect for it! although i wondered as soon as i saw they were doing a romance thing with susan/caspian how that was going to work with this movie. it’s making it seem like caspian has a new girlfriend in every movie!! haha! i hope they do a good job scripting it so it’s not just dumb. i guess this is what happens when u don’t stick to the book.

  5. I think that the Ramandu’s Daughter[RD]/caspian thing will be much better than the susan/caspian thing. The susan/caspian thing was just totally wrong for us true narnia fans. Susan is cool[one of my favorites[go Anna Popplewell!your so pretty!your so cool! Yay Susan!<3:)], so dont get me wrong and think that i have something against susan, but susan and caspian together just doesnt work. Its just stupid. I think thats partly why the movie did so bad and not many people liked it. Which really sucks, cause i loved it. The voyage of the dawn trader will be the best! Yay Nania!!!!<3<3<3 :):):)but then again I dont think it matters much what our opinion is about Laura Brent…wont change the fact that they've chosen her for RD. Wish she was a bit more stunningly beautiful, but then again we've only seen her as Laura Brent….not Ramandu's Daughter [high pitch squeal]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3<3<3:)

  6. For those who’ve actually read the book, we know that C.S. Lewis did not in any way write the Susan/Caspian scene in the book. I know the reasoning behind it where the audience is concerned, but for those of us who truly adore all things C.S. Lewis/Narnia feel that this issue is not what he intended it to be, or he would have written it that way. Sweet it may seem, it just doesn’t seem right to add to greatness.

  7. I think she may be great in terms of acting, but I was kinda hoping for someone more like Liv Tyler… I’m sorry but that’s the only kind of person I can imagine for such a role.

  8. I agree that the Susan/Caspian thing was not one of the best changes in the movies. But it’s not the end of the world, either. After all, over a year has passed since Susan left Caspian in Narnia. Both Susan and Caspian were young, and their whole romance can be considered more of a “crush” than anything else. Caspian has had plenty of time to realize that Susan is out of his life forever, and to move on. He’s matured a lot, and he’s ready to consider a more lasting relationship with Ramandu’s Daughter than he was with Susan.

As far as Laura Brent goes, I’m very excited that she’s been chosen! For one thing, choosing an actress (or actor) with the right hair color is a big pet peeve of mine, so I’m glad she matches her description in the book. 🙂 And if she’s good at acting, that’s the MOST important thing.

I can’t wait for VDT to be released! Only 11 months and 23 days! YES!!! 😀 😀 😀

  9. this beauty was in chandon pics.she is lovely. gr8 actress, she is beautfiul,i love her voice…mmm… ggrrr!!!

  10. Yes, how old is Laura Brent? Also, I think that if the filmmakers and actors pull off the Caspian/Ramandu’s daughter scene, it could be a highlight of the movie. I hope that they make her hair a bit longer though. I wonder how the Pevensies especially will react after seeing that Caspian doesn’t like Susan as much anymore, hmmm, maybe they will milk this a little bit. Maybe add some more Edmund/Caspian tension (there is already some in the book). I don’t think that they should put too much tension in though- it’s supposed to be an adventurous story. Sail on, Dawn Treader!

  11. I was so disappointed when the last movie came out and there was this whole romance thing between Caspian and Susan. That is no where in any of the books! I feel like they royally screwed that up in the last movie! It was so wrong. I hope this film is right on target with the book. It looks like it will be. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is my second favorite book next to The Horse and His Boy.

  12. Even I agree that Susan-Caspian part in the second movie was disappointing. And Ramandu’s daughter and Caspian part is a good thing in this new movie. Though her hair color matches, I expected someone to look more prettier. 😀
Hope her acting will be great in The Voyage And The Dawn Treader movie. 🙂

  13. Hello fellow Narnia Fans!
If you are wanting some background info on Laura Brent here it is!
She attended Wesley College Glen Waverley in Victoria, Australia up until about 5(or6) years ago.
She from there went to NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art). After NIDA she got the role in Chandon Pictures.

I know all this because I went to her high school (graduated after her), and studied under the same teacher who helped her become the actor she is today. Which, by the way is absolutely brilliant. She is still a legend within the Drama Community at Wesley, and will probably remain so for many, many years. They’ve still got poster’s of her hanging up from previous musicals, and plays.

Although she is more experienced with, live on-stage dramatical performances, I have no doubt she will be absolutely amazing as Ramandu

  14. Heyy there.

Does anyone know how Laura Brent actually got an audition for narnia, being australian. oo and who her agent or what company represented her?
