"Yes, but I left about two days after you and then I was delayed about three or four days longer with this little rascle," Ribbony's tail swept over Frodo, "And then the adventures really started. But you and Claw's bunch are going so slow in this place I went on for the last march. Then I ran into little Smokey here and heard you kits making a frackus (as my sister Dora would say) and let out my Catlition call."
"But how did Frodo live?" asked Smokey, "I saw 'im fall and cried with everone else when he died, how'd he live?"
"That," said Ribbony, "Is a story for another time and a warmer place. We will freeze here if we do not continue soon. FSS may ride on me and Mozart I think also ought to, else she be burried in the deep snow."
So FSS clambered upon Ribbony's back and Mozart leapt lightly onto his head.

"And I say, who are you three?" asked Ribbony when he saw Brave, Shaggy and Silver.
"That," replied Mozart, "Is a story for a different time and a warmer place my dear Ribbony!"
"We're going after our sista, Hope. She's with Claw." Shaggy explained briefly as they moved out.

After awhile Dorthy spoke, "Y'know this place is so sad... can't we Catlitionize it?"
"Catlitionize, eh Dorth?" chuckled Sanga.
"Oh you know what I mean." said Dorthy shortly.
Ribbony smiled, "Yes that is a good idea, Dorthy. Now everyone together and 1, 2, 3..."

"CAAAAAAATLIIIIIITIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" the wild yell echoed through the valley, reaching even it's darkest corners.

Did Claw and his group hear the yell?

Did the Telmarnies hear Aslan's roar?:p

Fire heard something. It was not a howling noise like the wind made, but a brave couragous glad yell. She could not quite make out the words but she guessed, she hoped, it was Mozart.

Claw heard it too and drove the group faster against the valley's worst. They never stopped once.

Inspired and with renewed hope Fire whispered down the line a secret quiet message. Some rejected it others joined in. But in the end many of the slaves decided to help.
When Fire decided the time was right she sucked in all the air she could then she and all the other slaves let out a deafening yell.

"CAAAAAAATLIIIIITIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I bet Claw didn't like that.:p

Mhmmm :D:p

Claw ran down the line of slaves without having anybody halt, "Who did it?!? Who did it?!?" he yelled at the slaves, "Who started that dreaded cry?!?"
Nobody said a word, they all liked Fireheart and felt in a way she was their leader, despiter her age.

"And you?!?" growled Claw shoving his face close to Shady's, "Did you see who started it?!?" he demanded.
"N-n-no I didn't." stuttered Shady more out of fear than cold.
Claw snorted and went on with his rant.

“Well,” said Ribbony, “Now Claw knows we’re still after him. We’re slowly slipping behind though but really we couldn’t do any fighting in this valley of snow and ice.”
“Ribbony where is Claw goin’?” asked Shadow sleepily.
Ribbony frowned and his brow furrowed, “He is going to Ventargo. That is where I was born and where he was born too. Recently I have been told that it has fallen into decay so perhaps Claw wants to rebuild it with the slaves. But I personally think he has his own ambitions that he has had ever since he joined Cogg when he was just a young cat.”
“And what are those, Mr. Ribbony?” asked Silverpaw.
“I will say nothing of it yet.” He replied, and no matter how they pestered him he would say nothing more of it.

How long the two groups lingered in Snow Valley none of them could ever recall. It may have been only a couple minutes or months. Time blurred in that place where one could see neither the sun nor the moon to guide them. If Ribbony had not found the LFF Catlition then there would be several new Frozen Ones to add to the grim collection of Snow Valley.
But Ribbony had been through Snow Valley once before and he knew it’s ways. True as he said they fell behind Claw but nothing could be done about it so they did not let that fact bother them.

Finally, after what seemed years in that valley Mozart saw the sun again. From their estimations the LFF Catlition and Ribbony were about two days behind Claw and his group. And though two says may not seem long alot can happen in that time.

Frodo searched the sky until he saw what he sought; a large dark spot wheeling in the air far above them. Maybe it was a guardian angel, maybe it was something else.

So ended the journey of Snow Valley and the last obstacle before their destination…
Ventargo.

Oh good. It's warming up now.;):p

And it'll get hot before the end.... maybe a little too hot.;)

Chapter twenty three
Ventargo

Out in the open beyond Snow Valley the land went up a little then down again. It looked as if someone had made giant footprints in Snow Valley and in the valley where a little town was located but left the land in-between untrod.
That little town's name is one to be remembered; it is called Ventargo.

Fireheart saw from the ridge above Snow Valley a small town in the middle of a basin-like area. The town was covered in a light layer of snow and had pine trees dotted in little bunches around it. It was a quaint place to live, or at least it was.

A long time ago there is a story that happened to Ribbony and his siblings that is told in another book called "Catlition" and only a little of that book comes into play in this story though.
You see Ventargo was the birthplace of Ribbony, Dora, Explorer and Creamy the first and their mother (whether they knew it or not) was a very important person there. She was a kind-of leader in Ventargo (then called Vengo) but she was killed in an accident. Nobody had known at the time but Cherry (that is Ribbony's mother) had been keeping the council that ruled Vengo together and when she died it fell apart.
Now there had been another cat there who was sinister and sly. He had been waiting for this day to come when he could take over Vengo and the council. His name was Nargie.
Nargie took hold of Vengo slowly, gaining trust from unwary foolish creatures who thought he would reunite Vengo. But it was only when Ribbony, Dora, Explorer, Creamy and Claw left (and you may note that there were several other cats with them, but that does not come into this story) with Claw trailing behind the rest, that Vengo truly fell apart. For you see the creatures there had been hoping that Ribbony or one of his siblings would take up their mother's rule and save them from destruction, but it was not to be.
So when Ribbony and his not-quite-yet-formed Catlition left Vengo Nargie seized his chance. He took over Vengo swiftly and cunningly, tricking the creatures to think he was coming to power for their good. When Nargie came into power he changed the name of the place to Ventargo.
Ever since then Ventargo had been falling into decay, and now it was little more than a few shanties together with a small street, one store and a tavern.
And there is one more thing you ought know; Nargie was Claw's uncle.

lol, thanks I can't believe I remeber it all! My mom and I came up with most of that like a month and a half ago!:D:p

I keep most of the stuff related to my stories in my head without much trouble (though I do have things written down in case I forget). Now if only I could remember other things that way...;):D

As the group entered Ventargo curious and frightened faces peered out at them from dirty windows and locked doors. No young creatures played in its abandoned streets. Not even vendors were there trying to sell goods.
Claw took the group to the largest place in the little town that was still usable; the tavern. It was not only that though it was a meeting place and also a sad little school for those who could pay their rent.

Claw entered the place and left the rest outside. They waited for a long time, sometimes hearing angry yells from inside.
Finally Claw emerged again. With him he was dragging a young cat, about Sanga’s age.
“Now do your job cat and I’ll let you be, do your job wrong and you’ll be dead before you can blink, understood?”
“Y-y-e-a-h-h yes sir.” Muttered the young cat. He lead them to what might have at one time been a castle or a fortress, but was now no more than some leaning (and falling) stone walls and a gate that looked like it would fall over with one puff of wind. Two rough looking guards stood yammering at each other outside the gate. They either did not see or ignored Claw as he came up to them.

One of them turned to him, “Well whata yer want?” he asked, the creature looked something like a rat.
“I want in and I will get in whether you try and stop me or not.” Claw said in a no-nonsense way.
“Ahright, but who’re you tu be orderin’ us ‘round ‘nyway?”
Claw drew himself up and said in a commanding voice, “I am Claw, nephew of Nargie who last I knew ruled here.”
“What yew mean you’re Tiggster? Tiggy, that kit he alays talks ‘bout?”
Claw’s temper flared, “My name is Claw you insolent fool! Not Tiggy!” he spat out the name as if he had just tasted something bad.
Tansy giggled, she couldn’t help it. Claw turned his gaze to her. She shut up but only by a very high level of willpower.

Claw pushed his way through the guards and took his group into the courtyard. He ordered them to wait there but strangely enough he took Fireheart and Shady with him into the castle (if it could be called that).

Claw led them through a complex maze of hallways with boarded up windows and locked doors. There were no tapestries or any kind of decoration on the stone walls, save the dirt and slime which covered them.
‘More like a dungeon than a castle iffin anybody’d ask me.’ Thought Fire.

Claw seemed to know every stone in that place. He doubled back only twice and then even he quickly got them back on track. Fire wondered at this, for she did not know that Claw once lived very near this place and knew it well when he was just a young kit like her.
After what seemed like ages but was really only less than a half-hour they reached two large twin doors which led into a room that was situated on a balcony so that the rear end of it jutted out into the sky and was open to the elements. Claw pushed the doors open and took the two young cats into the throne room. Twelve seats stood forlornly to the sides, with six on the right and six on the left. Maybe once great lord-cats and lady-cats in a great council had sat in them but now they were as old and decrepit as the rest of the place.
At the end of the room with its back to the balcony stood a great throne. It was much newer than the council chairs but still old; as if it had been made as a last minute addition to the place that was never meant to be there. Indeed that was the case. The chair was carved with the likeness of a roaring creature above the person seated on the throne’s head. What the creature was none of them knew for sure; Fire thought it was a lion, Shady thought it looked like a bear or a wolf.

But the person seated on the throne was much more interesting. He wore a long red silk robe and sandal-like things on his feet. He had a gold crown resting upon his head, heavily encrusted with jewels; rubies, sapphires, amethysts and other more exquisite gems whose names are only know by those of that world.
The creature on the throne was in fact a very old cat. He was older than Ribbony and Claw but perhaps younger than Missy. His fur was gray save for one black spot directly in the middle of his forehead and his eyes reflected the gold he lusted for.

The cat looked up when they entered. He stared at them each for a moment then muttered something. He stood and the kits saw that he was tall and proud, for he was as tall as Claw. Fire decided that the cat had once had black fur.

This was Nargie, self proclaimed king of Ventargo.

“Ah Tigerclaw, is it? My nephew, so you have returned.” The old cat spoke confidently and strongly.
“I am now called Claw, uncle.” Corrected Claw.
“Ah, I see. So why have you come?”
“I heard this place was crumbling so I brought some slaves to fix it up. This is one of them.” He pushed Fire forward.
“How thoughtful. What of the other kit?”
“She is a cat I brought from one of the villages I pillaged.”
“Hmm, so my generous nephew when will you begin restoring our home, hm?”
“Soon uncle, very soon.”

The two villains locked gazes and Fire saw friction between them. She knew that it would come to blows before the end and that Claw’s purpose was not solely to restore Ventargo.
Shady too saw that these tomcats were going to have a problem with each other. She reflected how different Claw and his uncle were compared to Fire and her siblings. Fire, Creamy, Pumpkin, Jako and Tansy would give their lives to save each other, while Claw and Nargie would rather kill each other over a pitiful town.

“Well I suppose I should give you accommodations, Claw.” Said Nargie coldly.
“And for my troops.”
“Your troops?”
“I will not deny we were followed.”
“Ah, I see. So little Tig goes to hide with his uncle, eh? Very well, hide, but get on with your purpose here.”
“Yes uncle.” Claw growled.
