  • I've recently become quite interested in "the little people" of Hong Kong. That is, the post-war struggles, the the family businesses in the sixties and seventies, the tin houses perched perilously on the side of the mountains... I keep wanting to go out and just randomly chat with people, "interview" them, and learn all about older Hong Kong. I have learned a lot from talking with my grandmother and aunt already, but I have yet to "interview" anyone else. "Maybe tomorrow" I keep telling myself. *sigh*

But I have spent a lot of time in museums and books and in front of the TV. We have a Hong Kong movie channel, and you'd be surprised at how much I picked up from just watching movies! I love Hong Kong movies. :p
I know how it feels to not know many people around you. I'm back from only the first year at college, and already, there are so many new people at church, who are my peers too, so I can't just ignore them and move on .... >.< The worst thing is that I have a terrible memory for faces, so I'm always wondering whether or not I'm supposed to know someone.

I always prefer to stay at home with a book instead of going out to meet new people. Even in college, I was lucky enough to have a very outgoing roommate who brought in all sorts of friends. If not for her, I'd be quite lonely for the coming three years.
Yep, and because the Highway Patrol and the Wildlife Officers often do similar work here in my state, there is a chance that if I don't get into TWRA at first I can always get there by getting hired onto THP and working part time as a boating Officer like many THP people do.
Actually in most states that have a state agency charged with policing the use of wildlife, wildlife officers have full and vested Police powers within the area of their jurisdiction. In addition, in many states, like my own, the Wildlife Officers have more jurisdiction than Highway Patrol. Many states have their Wildlife Agency in charge of policing the waterways and boaters.
Yep, I studied Wildlife Biology and want to be a Widlife Officer. I am taking Criminal Justice courses to try to make myself more desirable in the job market.
So how does it feel to be graduated? Some of my friends who graduated described Freshman year as the slowest year, which says a lot about the next 3 years because I thought it flew by. Hah. The semester went well, definitely room for improvement, but I guess that always will be true. I definitely didn't work as hard as I could, and I carried a few bad habits with me from high school, but come this fall, I definitely am going to get the ball rolling.
I am good. Since my own college graduation this past December I have been working a temporary job until I find a job in my field. I am actually taking more college classes this fall trying to get an additional degree that will enable me to get the job I want through the back door if they won't let my come in through the front immediately.
flying tackle hug. How are you? how is school? I don't see you on here to often.
So, what else have you been doing in-between looking into various jobs? Read any good books lately?
hmm... I thought I had replied to your message, but apparently not. Perhaps the computer ate it...

My future plans (at the moment) are quite similar to yours. I'll probably eventually go on to further study, but I also want to work a year or two after graduating. One of the possible career paths that I'm thinking of is journalism. But I figured that I already have the writing skills, and the technical side can be learned rather quickly. I think a knowledge of the way the world works (I'm taking history and poli-sci) would be more practical. Anyway, still time to work things out.

So, any news about the job?
I don't exactly want to go on for another degree, but considering the subjects I'm study, it's more than likely that I'll have to. I'm really not looking forward to all the decisions I'll have to face.

But what did you study in college?
well, i haven't done it yet but i have always heard (and plan to) just continue to do what you love and possibly look into getting an agent;)
That's one reason I want to be an actress! the challenge of something like that would be the coolest thing!!!:)
yeah, because the movies can be only so long, they have to leave things out and alter a bit which can change many things:) I am definitely glad I read the books first:)
I read the books when i was 12 (i've read them about 10 times since then;)) and i wanted to watch the movies but my dad wouldn't let me then...so i kinda just talked about them nonstop;) so yes, books then movies:)
