A Thread For LOTR Collectors

And I will hold those volumes aside for you. ;)

I've never been partial to Sting.. I would rather have Glamdring. :D

Well The Complete Recordings are Howard Shore's Complete recording from the Extended Editions. It also includes many tracks heard in regular editions of the films that cannot be found on regular soundtracks.

Mainly something to keep track of all the characters in the Silmarillion.... ;)

It's the only actual sword we have, if we had another one I would love it more :D

That would be awesome, it would have the song that Liv Tyler sings :p

I don't keep track of all characters in the Sil.. mainly only the ones that are important to me like; The Iluvatar, Manwe, Aule, Ulmo, Melkor/Morgoth, Gorthaur/Sauron, Yavanna, Luthien, Beren, and so on. I also love the names of the Children of Iluvatar; The First Born, The Fallowers, and The Adopted. :)

Well at least you have a LOTR sword period. I have one too.. Anduril which is listed among my other memorbilla on the first page. :)

I'm thinking odf downloading that song to my iPod for now. :D

I love the names as well, and when they're listed like that I can see the Biblical similarities ;)

I don't technically have one, it's my sister's, but it's not like I can't borrow it whenever I want

I'm making a banner with it currently :D

Indeed! The Silmarillion really is one Fantasy Biblical Narrative. :)

Hahaha does your sister know you barrow it? ;)

Cool! When you finish can I see it?

I'll have to watch more for that now

Yes, if I ever borrowed it I would ask her first :D

You certainly can, I'm uploading it now

For example The First Born are like the Jews.. they are tasked with talking care of thier realm and they hold the lore and knowledge of the Iluvatar and the Valar. The Fallowers are like the Christians, Fallowers of Iluvatar? Of Christ? Parallel? Plus when Men die they go to be with the Iluvatar. The Adopted remind me of Gentile pagans who convert to Christianity and are grafted into the Body of Christ. This is just some of symbolisom I see, of course their is obvious Fall of Satan via Melkor, The Creation of Arda -Genesis and so on. :)

You are a good sister. :)

Awesome! I look foward to seeing it. :)

It's been eons since I visited this thread... and, I think I haven't shown my action figures collection here...

Hehee... one day I'll make it a battle of the bands. Heavy/Power Metal (Men of the West/The New Alliance) VS Black and Death Metal. \m/

Yep, it'll be so because I'll manage to make a stage for them, and then get some miniature drums, mics, bass and guitars for them.

I know, there's an orc-wannabe somewhere, and of course, it's not from LOTR. It was random toy my dad bought someday and brought it to me. And I just added it since it resembled an orc.

Well I can't help but find Biblical allegories in Tolkien's work. it's why I love his enchanting world so much. His themes and beliefs are deep, you have to delve or read with the right mindset and you see them whereas Lewis makes it clear what everything means all the time. I prefer to search and delve.

Good for you.. your sisters must respect you highly. :)

I enjoy digging too, it makes it seem so much more wonderful when you find it

We all respect each other, I love my family

Same here, although Narnia is amazing I've always loved LotR more, I think because there are three long books to get to know the characters whereas in Narnia none of the characters are in all the books besides Aslan ;)

I agree.. plus I think LOTR touchs my heart more.. because it is much like are world is now. We are battling against forces of darkness and The End is at hand, the Return of the King could be any day or year now. Wheras Narnia takes you off into another world, a sorta paradise. LOTR is more full of lore and great peril in comparison to Narnia.

That is true as well but that also has something to do with the age range the two authors were writing for, while the Hobbit was written for a somewhat younger age range LotR wasn't really (though I started reading them at like age 8 or 9...) but Narnia is in some ways aimed toward a younger audience, of course it also appeals to all age groups but it includes younger children more than LotR

That is another reason for my shift in alligance. LOTR keeps you engrossed as an adult, while Narnia though it be a classic feels very childish nowadays.

I wouldn't say it feels childish, I can find something new to learn every time I read them but they go a lot faster and require less deep thinking than LotR, as we discussed ;)

Forgive my words.. Narnia is not childish.. it has many wonderful teachings that I discover each time I read them.. but the world itself is not nearly as massive or detailed as Middle Earth. :)
