Toodles just called me, weeping in gratitude. He believes that your theory of ethics has reverted to Kant at last because you have "seen honesty as the duty of a just man"--or something like that. He also says that he believes he has lost two pounds already because of decreasing interpersonal stress.

In the olden days, travelling was very difficult and people would carry weapons with them when they travelled on foot to protect against robbers. When two people would meet on a road, they would extend their arms to one another to show that each meant the other no harm. Eventually, they decided that rather than just flailing their arms about, they would shake each other's hands when they extended their arms.
