Away the Shackles

"Do you know how worried I've been?" Lisa asked. "You are not helping make my day any easier."

"I wasn't expecting to be gone this late. I'm sorry." she said looking back down to her feet, "has dad called?" she asked trying to shift the conversation off of her.

 

[Sunshine]

"Not yet," she said, shaking her head. "And we are not done with this conversation."

Brin bit her lip and looked up, "what else would you like to know?" she asked with a shrug

 

[Sunshine]

"What did you do while skipping? You know that I don't like you spending so much time alone with boys."

Brin felt like her lungs had just totally colapsed, "we talked and watched movies." she managed to say rather normaly

 

[Sunshine]

Lisa sighed. "You know how I feel about spending that much time with boys, especially being alone with them."

 

[~Grateful * Surrender~]

"Mom," she sighed, "we were talking and he is my boyfriend it wasn't like I was just hanging with some randome guy."

 

[Sunshine]

"I know dear, but I'm just thinking about what's best for you. Things happen and mistakes can lead to very big problems."

"Mistakes?" she asked getting a little annoyed, "what mistakes, Mom?"

 

[Sunshine]

"Giving things away that perhaps should be saved," Lisa said, alluding because of Mara being within earshot.

 

[~Grateful * Surrender~]

"Saved for what mom?" Brin asked tossing her bag onto the coutch.

 

[Sunshine]

"Marriage, perhaps?" Lisa suggested. "Or at least until you're older."

 

[~Grateful * Surrender~]

"you mean so I can wait for someone like dad to come along and then after he has what he wants he takes off and pretends it's about his job?" she shot.

 

[Sunshine]

"You watch your mouth, young lady. Do not talk about your father that way," Lisa snapped.

 

[~Grateful * Surrender~]

"Why not mom?" she asked, "why shouldn't I talk like that when both of us know that it is the truth." for some strange reason she felt freer to talk to her mom about this than she ever had with her dad. she so longed to tell him exactly what she thought of him but it never quite came out like it did with her mom

 

[Sunshine]

"Your father is working to support this family, Brin. He works so much so that we can live so nicely."

brin snorted and grabbed her bag, "yah mom...whatever you want to believe."

 

[Sunshine]

"Go to your room, Brin. Right now," Lisa snapped, pointing up the stairs.

"Why?" Brin asked a little angry, "why do you defend him like that? he doesn't deserve it."
