No, it won't ruin the movie. It's a really good movie, if you don't try to make it live up to the book. Just think about it as a stand-alone film, and it's really quite exciting and suspenseful.

Good advice. A stand alone film. Yes, I am still heartbroken, but that's because I love the books so much.

I can't believe no one else is voting for Miraz ...

There's a shocker, Miraz was a great character and a great villain, although the filmakers made him their own but in my opinion the changes were for the best since I think they modeled him out of a greedy, totalitarian dictator because he did act like one.

I agree, I loved what they did with him. Different from the book, but very good changes. Ed was my second favorite, and he seems to be winning, so that's cool.

I don't know if it would be different from the MIraz of the book only because I don't think his character is very detailed in it. But Lewis did make it clear that Miraz was mean and power hungry and would have killed Caspian. I think that if Lewis had described Miraz with more details, it would have been very close to the one in the movie. So that change was good.

Miraz was great. He was one of the best villains that I have seen in a movie in a very long time. I thought that casting a relatively unknown actor for the role was a great choice. We all enjoyed Ian McKellam and Christopher Lee in LotR, but now they have been in so many major films that we see them as actors and not characters in a movie.

The casting choices that the production team has made have been exceptionally good for the past two movies and I hope that they can keep up the good work for VoDT!

I enjoyed Miraz myself, however Edmund is and shall always be my favorite. One of my favorite scenes is when those two had that little meeting. Classic stuff.

Come on, like anyone could replace Lucy. She was the best of the characters (although I do have to admit Edmund was great in this one). Heck, it was only with her help that the war was won.

MrBob

I second that, Mr. Bob. She IS the main human character in the Narnian chronicles. Edmund is tied, at least in this story ( both the book and film.)

My reasons are this: Look at it this way, it's easy for the books to have the rotating cast of characters but when Lucy and Edmund are so perfect, they will be hard pressed to find a way to make Jill or Eustace replace them. Sure Eusatce "may" be able to replace Peter and Susan, but those too? nuh-uh. They were brilliantly written to begin with and have been exceelently played on screen.
"Long live Queen Lucy! Long Live King Edmund!"

It's so tough to decide these things for me until I've seen the fillm at least a few more times. I do object to having Aslan be listed as a character though-I mean to paraphrase Lucy at the end of VDT: Aslan IS Narnia. :)

ink, I totally know what you mean about Miraz-his character (and the rest of the Telmarines) was a totally pleasant and welcome surprise to me...maybe I'll give another vote for him, but it's going to be tough not voting for one of the Pevensies (probably Lucy again-who I voted for in LWW). I love each one of them.

EDIT: Sven-El and MrBob, excellent points! :)

Lucy is my favorite character in the books, but in PC film, she did not have that much screen time or much that was important to do, so for this movie only, Miraz gets my vote. He was evil, and handsome and witty and angry ... Mr. Bad Example. That was a change to the books which I heartily approve, the expansion of Miraz's character, and the whole Telmarine thing. Loved their armour.

Yea, Miraz was great. I enjoyed 'getting to know him better'. If you get what I'm saying. And you really got to know the Telmarines and their culture a lot. It was all very interesting to say the least.

And I've always enjoyed the sort of bond Edmund and Lucy have. I hope I'm not the only one who's seen it. :D It's probably because of that brother sister bond that I enjoy Voyage of the Dawn Treader so much.

I have noticed it, and I agree. It happens I have three sibs and in just that order: boy girl boy girl. I am the youngest, and my nearest brother was my hero when we were little, so I especially dig that Edmund/Lucy vibe. I can see it in my own life.

i quite like Lucy :) But I accidentally voted for Susan. But I like Susan too! And there are so many characters to choose from! I love Aslan toooo, and Edmund, and Reepicheep! And Peter... LOL
