Thanks Miss Reep! It's sort of predictable with me that everything I watch and read will somehow point me back to Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. :)

OK, now I have watched the episode where Rose and the Dr (David Tennant) meet up with Queen Victoria and have to defeat an intergalactic werewolf. It was very entertaining!

And then I saw one where Rose's boyfriend from earth called her home to check out a weird grade school where aliens had infiltrated the staff and were eating some of the kids. They were bat-people in their real form but looked human. It was a good plot, and introduced Sarah Jane Smith (I think), an older woman who used to travel with the Dr. I did not recognize her, so I am wondering: was she with him in the original series, back in the 60's or 80's or whatever? She also had a tin robot dog. Or were we just to understand that the Dr has had many other companions?

I am slowly working my way through the second series ...

Sarah Jane Smith was a character in the classic series. She traveled with the 3rd and 4th Doctors in the 70s. K-9 was the Doctor's dog. Sarah Jane is one of the most famous(and favorite) companions in Classic Who. She even had her own spin-off show on BBC Kids called The Sarah Jane Adventures(both the 10th and 11th Doctors made cameos at one point). Sadly, the actress(Elezabeth Sladen, I might be spelling the last name wrong) died in 2010.

Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) died in April of 2011. Not only was she the best Classic Doctor Who companion, she was probably one of the most beautiful, as you can see my my tribute post back then:

The news of her death is still on the Doctor Who official page:

By the way, Inky, the next episode after the Sarah Jane Smith one is one of my favorites from that series.

Thanks for the info! This makes sense now. What a shame her passing so young.

OK, so is that the Madame Pompadour episode, "The Girl in the Fireplace"? That is the one I watched last night, and I think it is the one right after the one with Sarah Jane. It was good; I enjoyed it. I will have to look back at the list and see if that is the one you meant BK or if there was one in between.

Yes' that's the one, with Madame de Pompadour. It's always been one of my favorite episodes.

Yes, it was sweet -- She felt the doctor was always there looking out for her ... :)

Last night I started watching Rise of the CyberMen, unaware that it was in two parts, so I didn't finish the whole episode last night. I was too tired. It is the one where they're bumped into a parallel universe ... with two Mickeys ... So far it is very scary.

Why do some people think that Doctors nine and up aren't the real Doctor?
Who are they? where are they? Point them out to me and I'll give them what for!!!;)

Seriusly, I haven't heard that but yes, there usually are small die-hard fans of original series, such as there exist Star Trek, Star Wars, and others.

I am beginning to get used to the 10th Dr. I just finished watching a 2-part episode about the devil called "Impossible Planet" or some such. It was quite interesting! I liked the other characters they encountered.

Sorry to double post, but I am scared

Last night I watched the previews for the next episode (I just watched the one where they went to the 2012 Olympics and encountered a little girl who could draw people into her drawings.)

Rose had just said she knew she and the dr would always be together, and he said he felt something coming, a storm coming -- then in the previews Rose started narrating what she said would be the last story she told, and there were flashbacks to the devil episode where the devil was saying she was the valiant child who would die in battle.

So now I am afraid to watch the next two episodes because I am afraid Rose is going to die ... Say it isn't so! I can't continue watching this series if I am worried that Rose is going to DIE!!! Help.

I can't tell you what happens!

I see you really like Rose. So do I. But after she's gone, she's gone. And of course, some one replaces her. Lots of people don't like the next companion because she isnot Rose. it's really sad when Rose leaves, but remember to keep a open mind about the next companion.

Sorry for the rant!

thank you ... that must mean this is the end of rose ... i am still too scared to go on ...

Time heals all wounds. I wasn't going to say anything but since we are on the subject, and without giving anything away I'd like to say that after this series ended, I was so mad and heartbroken that I refused to watch the next series, for a time anyway. Just to let you know that the ending of the second series is one of the most heart wrenching periods of Doctor Who lore. But be that as it may, it is part of the universe and this is what makes Doctor Who unique. No other series gives you so much heartache, but also so much hope. Go ahead and watch it. Be ready for whatever happens and don't be like me. Do continue with the next series as soon as you can because it will help with the healing ;). Although Rose may be gone, the Doctor goes on and on and it still feels great go with him on all of his new adventures.

Well, I hope that made sense.

I definitely agree with that! Honestly, I got much more upset about the Pond's departure in the current series than I did over Rose's departure, but it is considered to be one of the saddest. Do go on and watch it, though. It's worth it to continue.

Thank you! I did watch it, and I was happy that *** SPOILERS AHEAD ***

Happy that Rose survived, even in another dimension where the Dr can't reach her. It was very heart-rending! But it was lovely, too, how the Peter that wasn't Rose's dad risked his life to come and get her ... and that Peter and Rose's mum were going to have a baby ... it was nicely done if they had to write Rose out of it.

The very next programs had the lovely Catherine Tate, and I thought she was going to be the new companion; those were very interesting programs and sad in their own way because she wouldn't come with him. But then I was happy when he found Martha, and I like her. I just last night caught up to the one about Dr Lazarus trying to rejuvenate himself. It was action-packed and fun.

We are traveling out of the country next week where my Amazon video streaming won't work, so I won't be able to watch any more until I get back. How long does the 10th doctor stay in this form? And how many doctors are there after the ninth? I liked him so much, but now I really like the tenth. I can't imagine there are many more?

Currently in NewWho, there are 7 seasons. The first one is reserved for the 9th Doctor. The 10th Doctor is featured in seasons 2 through 4, and some tv speak ails which includes his final adventure, the End of Time). The 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith. He is the youngest doctor to date. Matt is the currant Doctor, he is staying through 8th season at least. That means he'll be on the show longer that David Tennant. I love the 11th too, but the 10th will always be my Doctor.
