Back to a topic from earlier, I watch Sherlock! I actually started watching Sherlock first, which then led on to Doctor Who since they do have some similarities (Sherlock is still my favorite, though). For me, I first noticed that the Doctor acted kind of like Sherlock, not the other way around. I had always liked the Sherlock Holmes stories. However, normally I don't like adaptations of books because they are never as good as the books, and so it really annoyed me at first when I began watching something called "Sherlock" on PBS that had smartphones (don't they know that Sherlock lived in the 1800s?), but soon I was hooked and now I love both the show and the books, despite the differences.

OK, back to Doctor Who :D
I'm a bit sad that Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who because I've really enjoyed watching him. However, I started watching in Matt Smith's first season, so I haven't really seen any other doctors. This makes me excited to see who the next one will be! So I'm sad Matt is leaving but excited to see a new Doctor. Can't we have both? :p

I know just how you feel! I felt the same way about the 9th Doctor, the first one I started watching. I thought he was brilliant! And I was so annoyed that there would be a new Doctor. But then I absolutely loved the 10th Doctor! And when he left and Matt Smith turned up, I was ... amazed that they found another such great actor perfectly suited. So I think, as long as they keep up this good casting, we won't be disappointed.

That's quite interesting about Sherlock. I haven't had time to go back and watch more episodes, but I really like it.

While we wait for Doctor Who to begin again in November, why don't we post links to good stuff? I'd like to post the link to the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra on YouTube. Check out their performances of our favorite DW compositions and hear the genius of Murray Gold, and the awesomeness of the many talented fans! Start with the #1, "I am The Doctor" and go from there.

You are hooked! Awesome! Can't wait for you to see the rest of the seasons! You will like each new doctor, honest. :)

I'm sure I will, it'll just take me awhile.

Netflix does have all the series since Series 1, or as Netflix has them, Season 1 through 6. You watched the End of Time part 2 and yes, the Doctor sort of "dies" there, but he's just one version of the Doctor, he actually comes back as the 11th regeneration. I think you should start from the beginning to understand what's happening. I actually recommend (FOR YOU ALONE) to watch the first episode of Series 2 (New Earth) and the fourth episode of Series 3 (Gridlock) since they're both about cats!!:)

I know, BK. I watched seasons 2-4. I meant I couldn't find the original episodes, from before 9. And, for the record, the Doctor admits that the person who he is dies when he regenerates and he becomes someone new. Also, when I originally tried watching Doctor Who (several years ago now) I watched the first episode of 9's then skipped into ssn 2 to try and find David Tennant (because I already kind-of knew who he was) watched two episodes and got put off until this summer. New Earth freaked me out a lot (though if I'd gotten to the 3rd episode I would've been put off for far longer, wolves disturb me more).

Ladies and gentlemen, WE'VE DONE IT!!! :D Teeheehee! Which Doctor did you start with? Which season? Please say you started on season 1!

10, season 2. And don't blame me for that- I asked GG where I should start and she said season 2. So I started with episode 3 (like I told BK, I'd already seen the first two episodes) and went from there. I need to go back and watch season one at some point though. I might just start watching it tonight (I could be finished with it by next Saturday if I wanted) and then continue with season 5 afterwards. Still debating.

And if anyone cares; I love Sherlock. I've been hooked on it for nearly a year now (since last August, I believe) and am waiting very impatiently for season 3 which they need to have out NOW, for various reasons. I like it slightly more than Doctor Who. Sherlock and the Doctor are rather similar, but sometimes, when I'm in a particularly devious mood, I wish that they would have a conversation about us Earthlings and ethics. Boy would that be an interesting argument.:p

I have been watching Dr.Who since 1970, then it was Jon Pertree and then Tom Baker. I have the two films with Peter Cushing in them as the Dr. Has eny one watched the TV show supernatural? :)

Cool thing you've watched Doctor Who since that time. I wish I had gotten into it way back then but I had no idea the show even existed. I was still a young kid in 1970, was living in Central America (Guatemala), and my family owned no television.

I have watched some episodes of Supernatural but I have never really gotten into it. I am not sure about the whole God vs. Evil premise of the show. So far it doesn't seem to fit with my views, although I admit that for entertainment purposes it's ok. In that case, it's more like a horror series to me, and I have never really been into horror stuff.

** Waiting for the Special **

It's a fez. I wear a fez now. Fezes are cool.

I have not seen many of them either I have watched season 4 and 8 so I dont' fully understand whats going on. Dr Who is 50 years old now the longest running sifi show in history and John Hurt is the next Dr, he has played many roles on stage and screen but I just can't see him as the Dr. Time will tell. :)

I had to google it, too. He was (is?) a Britsh comedian who ... wore a fez. That was about all I could find out about him at first glance. Don't know if he ever said Fezes are cool. :)

What does everyone think of the 12th Doctor? I think he will do very well. I loved him as the dad in that ancient Pompeii episode, anyway. I just hate that Matt Smith is going. But I think we'll like the new Doctor.

I liked the new 12th doctor in that episode, too. Wouldn't it be awesome if they went back and incorporated that episode as the 12th playing a joke on the 10th? I mean, if they did, it would be the 12th stealing the TARDIS from the 10th--or maybe 12 lost the TARDIS or something, found it in the market, then realized it was actually 10's TARDIS...
Well, I'm just going to pretend it happened that way. :D

Whoa! you just blew my mind. I never thought of anything like that.

I really like him and I can't wait to see what they do with him now. It will be interesting to see where Moffat leads us next as the relationship with the Doctor and companion should be different as he is older. Can't wait to see how he get's brought in as well :).
