NO, you cannot be serious. everytime someone says that i think: if they don't want to say "the netherlands" then say "gelderland"Peter lover said:I personally don't care if they say Holland or The Netherlands. Most people (most dutch also) say Holland and the Netherlands. I also say often to my friends who live outside The Netherlands, Holland.
well, a bit, the words aren't that hard, the pronoucation is a little bit (the letter "G" is hard for anyone not-dutch) but the grammar is really hard. it just doesn't make sense, all our verbs and stuffTumnus_luver77 said:I want to learn Dutch. Is it a hard language to learn??

Puzzle_the_Donky said:Hey: this is a Dutch thread, try to speak DUTCH here!!!
NO, please you can't do that to me (well it doesn't bother me that much)Puzzle_the_Donky said:And Holland is much better and much easier than The Netherlands Lieke.

say hi to her from me, it's a great name (at least that's what my parents were thinking when they named me like that)Puzzle_the_Donky said:The name of my sister is Lieke.
if someone says Holland they mean the whole Netherlands, but it's just the idea. Holland is the old name, when that was the place were everything was happening (17th century i think), but i live in Gelderland so i prefer The Netherlands, but whatever, everyone is going to say Holland anyway and i know what you mean, so there isn't a big problem or somethingPuzzle_the_Donky said:By the way: I really thought that by Holland was meant just the Netherlands!!!
