Frodo is NOT like the books Frodo.

I know. One of the few things I like better in the books is that Frodo was a bit tougher. He would fight in battles(though not kill), and he would ride the horse to Rivendell even in his wounded condion. But in the films during battles he is always running away and tripping. And instead of Riding to the Ford by himself, he screams for Gandalf, gets all whiny and panicy and makes Arwen have to take him to Rivendell and stop the Nazgul herself.

So the book Frodo is better. Though I do like a younger Frodo, like in the films.

And here I agree with you!!!!! I do like the younger Frodo better. The younger Frodo with a more tough personality who doesn't whine all the time.

Aragorn Son of Arathorn is by far my favorite character. He always has been. I love him both in the books and played by Viggo in the LOTR movies.

Goodness, this is a hard one... As much as I love all the characters from LOTR, I'd say that the Hobbits are my favorite characters. ]:3

Ok, This was really hard because I like
Aragorn: Just because he is so faithful to all those he loves. And he will do anything to save middle earth even if that means he has to die.

Legolas: Well, I like elves and he is one of the best because he crosses the line of comfort I guess you could say because in the end him a Gimli are best friends which is very uncommon and he also went into a cave for Gimli's sake.

Faramir: Because all he want's is his father to love him. And like Aragorn he will do anything for those he loves and he tries so hard to gain he's fathers affection.

I'm reading the Lord of the Rings books (for the second time) and personaly like most of the characters and think they are all very well done in the books and well described by Tolkien.:)

I like every character in book save Grima Wormtounge. I even liked Denethor, because you actually sympathize with him and even pity him. You realize he wasn't just cold man, he was decieved and overwhelmed with grief.

The only one I like in the book was\is Sam. That transferred over to the films, which I think Sam's the truest character in the film to his character in the book. :D

"It is an ill door, and my death lies beyond it. I will dare to pass it nonetheless..."

That line was spoken in the BOOK of "Return of the King" by one of my favorite small-part characters, the valiant Ranger Halbarad. The moviemakers did the audience no service by making it seem as if Aragorn were the last Ranger left in Middle-Earth apart from Faramir's Ithilien Rangers.

In the books (what I read of them) I really like Sam. In the movies, I love how so many were portrayed. Arwen is a definate favorite. I also like Legolas and Pippin. That's if I have to narrow them down.

Aragorn:D he's just so cool:cool:

but i like sam to. definitely the reall hero
quote from movie
"i made a promise mr frodo, dont you leave him samwise gamgee, and idon't mean to, i dont mean to."

i think i got that right:p

:D

I love Sam to pieces. I also really like Aragorn and Eowyn. But they're all such good characters... I love all of the Fellowship, really. :)

They all have strengths, but I must throw my lot in under 'hobbits' as you three of my favorites there - Bilbo, Sam and Merry. Merry is quite different in the book than in the movie, I always loved his character, Sam - well, we know about Sam!... and Bilbo was a one-of-a-kind exceptional fellow whom even the Elves respected. That says something.

Samwise Gamgee of course - a true friend. If Samwise means 'half-wise' or 'simple minded' his heart, loyalty and bravery more than made up for it as the fate of Middle Earth literally rested upon him and he delivered.

If it were up to me they'd rename The Lord of the Rings - Sam the Gardner.

Wow, I kind of love that idea! Sam really is the hero of the book. Frodo is incredibly heroic as are all the heroes, but Sam makes it all happen. Frodo would have been nowhere without him. It would be fun to make a list of how many times Sam singlehandedly saved the whole shebang! One of the most obvious is after Frodo is "killed" by Shelob and Sam takes the ring and saves the orcs from taking is directly to Sauron! I always kind of wondered what would have happened if Frodo had really died. I think it's just awesome how Sam says that revenge would keep him on all the hard roads to Mount Doom and back, just so he could save the world and then avenge his friend. Of course revenge isn't really something I approve of, but in that case it was awesome. I just imagined him trudging doggedly to Mount Doom on one crumb of Lembas a day, tossing the ring in, outrunning the Lava and getting down to the business of tearing Shelob and Gollum limb from limb. :p I bet he would have done it too. But I'm glad Frodo wasn't dead. If Tolkien had been as depressing as today's fantasy writers Frodo probably would have died. Thank goodness he didn't.

I like Gimli because he's funny :). My favorite scenes in the LOTR movies are the ones where Legolas and Gimli are having their contest on how many enemies they kill :D.
