I live at the edge of Ottawa. I am in French Immersion because French is now recognized in ALL of Canada. (before it was just Quebec and a bit of Ontario that spoke French). Plus, if you want a good job in Canada now, it's REALLY helpful to be bilingual in French and English.

It's been recognized in all of Canada since Prime Minister Trudeau way back then. It's only really in Ontario and the eastern provinces that it enables you go get a really good job if you have it...you see in B.C. it's probably more useful for you to speak an Asian or Indian language than French. I learned French in school, though I don't think I used it ever until I visited Quebec - and then I realized I couldn't understand anyone speaking it anyway because I learned Parisian French. I could read the signs, names, streets, and restaurant menus, but I couldn't speak it to anyone.

So really, unless you take it in university or go to French immersion there is the likelihood in Western Canada you will still rarely use it.

I'm learning to sing a song (Embraceable You) in French, and going to take that as my foreign language class next year when im in high school (no use though since i live in California and most of the population is Mexican {no offense} so taking Spanish would be useful {i guess}, but French is so much more of a beautiful language, and i can actually do the accents).

I want to study in England for college one day, so that way i would live close to France without needing to be an expert on the language since ill just be using English =).

That's so cool. I would like to study in England too but I'm afraid to not understand and to be lost in this beautiful country. Many people wants to speak French ! I don't knew that. That's cool !

well, i speak a little, very little bit of French, i have to learn it at school, but the only thing we do there is learning words...... BORING!!
but French itself is a nice language ;)
