" Yeah, I just wish I knew what to do with you mostly I do care about Dan more then anything but you are my brother I get worried you know," she told him, walking to the door " I just I don't Al it scared me when mum told me that you were in the hospital I-I thought I was lost my brother like I did with my....," she told him, looking down at her feet.

This was clearly not an in-the-presence-of-the-babies topic. Alipang darted over to close the door of Chilena's room, left open till now, and then they were back in each other's arms almost before she noticed he had moved. He sat again, this time ON the edge of the bed, and drew her onto his knees again. "Let's hear more of what you're feeling about that."

He said nothing about her describing Dan as the most important person to her after only four days; but he certainly had not gone _that_ crazy about Kim.

OOC: We have had past scenes in which Chilena was shown speaking the Tagalog language from the Philippines; thus, even though GV has determined that Chilena is a blonde Caucasian, she has to have some connection to Philippine culture. Through having been with her adoptive parents on the mission field while she still was the only child? This is a time for GV to firm up the autobiography.

She was on his lap again " I was three when they brought me here I'm not sure if I can remember them I-I wish I knew why they left me," she told him, more tears rolled down her cheeks " I'm greatful that I'm your sister Al don't get me wrong but I need more answers about my real family and why they left me," she told him, looking down at her hands " Like I said I don't want to loose you nor my foster family," she told him.

Alipang put his forehead against Chilena's forehead, his nose against her nose. "You know what? I'm trying not to laugh, both for the sake of my ribcage, and so you won't think I don't take you seriously. For the taking you seriously, here--" and he kissed her again. "But it would be funny in a story. When I came into the family at age eleven, you had already been in the family for eight years, or nearly; Melody was still a toddler, and we didn't have Harmony yet. So I felt like the outsider, there only on probation. I didn't want to do anything to get thrown out, so--after I got over the rebellious stage and _wanted_ to be in the family, of course--I avoided giving offense. One thing I feared would give offense, would be getting too nosy with The Princess--meaning you, Chil-Chil.

"So I went through the years since then always just _assuming_ that you DID know your background history, as of course I knew my own. I figured that part of you just wasn't my business. But by now, you and I love each other enough, that if _that's_ your hidden extra problem, it _becomes_ my business. Because I do love you, heaps and heaps and bunches."

" I love you to Al," she told him, taking his hand in hers " Would you help me find my real family," she asked, not looking up at him.

He kissed the top of her forehead, then kissed her hand which held his. "Well, we can't just get in your car and look at a highway atlas titled 'Roads Leading To Birth Parents.' But I promise I'll try to figure out what we CAN do about this. I'll feel better, though, if THESE parents who RAISED us are not left out of the process." And he cuddled her extra tenderly so she would not feel scolded.

Summer walked to class thinking about what Ivy had said. Knowing she was the school gossip she guessed that she was exaggerating. But she did wonder what had actually happened. She decided to call Alipang's cell after class.

OKAY IF WE JUMP FORWARD TO THEN?

When Alipang's phone buzzed in his pocket, he answered it without dislodging his sister from her place in his embrace. "Hello? Summer? How are you? I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you the other day! But it's good to have Alley-Cat Man away in his own litterbox."

Summer laughed. "Don't worry about it. Ivy, you know the girl who has to talk about everything, Said that you, Grant and Brendan got in a gun fight and you were killed. I assumed she was exaggerating. So what happened?"

Alipang squishy-hugged Chilena even more lovingly, to help her get through hearing what he was going to tell their friend Summer.

"Yesterday morning I started for school forgetting that my balisong was still in my pocket. So I slipped it into one of my outdoor stash-places. But someone saw, somehow. Later, on my way from school to work, I found the stash-place empty. Two of them were watching, waiting for that moment; and from what they said, these two were brothers of one of the guys who lay for me Tuesday night. They not only showed me that they had my knife, they also lied that they were holding Sammy Ashford and were going to hurt him. So I had to go after them, for Sammy's sake.

"Sammy _wasn't_ there in the place they led me to; but three more guys were laying for me: two black guys, probably Leopard Man's buddies, plus Rocknose. And your 'friend' Carlos was in on it, though late showing up. Now, I couldn't take _that_ many guys at the same time even if I hadn't been hurt the day before; so, with no Sammy there to worry about, I knocked one down and broke out of encirclement. My only chance was to get to where there could be help before they overtook me.

"And the help was Brendan. Thank God for him--and that he had his lacrosse stick, since two of them had knives counting MY knife. When Carlos showed up, he had a nunchaku. Brendan did most of the fighting, but I was able to knock one creep out and then hold off Carlos until he zapped me in the cracked rib. Their side was already losing by then, and Brendan cleaned up the rest. He called the cops; and Grant, who came by, waved them in to the scene. Before long, a Fire Department ambulance was taking me to the hospital in Shilohsville.

"And now I'm home, and Chil-Chil is making me feel welcome! We and the babies are going to watch some VeggieTales videos shortly."

OOC: We will possibly return retroactively to this point in RP-time, to allow NightcrawlerFan, as Summer, to say more in this conversation.

After the talk with Summer was finished, Alipang and Chilena ended their private conference for the present, though still fitting in more hugs as they wended their way to an early supper kindly prepared and left ready for them by Mrs. Capshaw. Dr. Havens had told them to start eating without him, since he was seeing extra patients. During the meal, Alipang gave carefully edited and sanitized answers to questions from his younger sisters about why he had needed to be at the hospital.

Afterward came the great VeggieTales marathon, attended by the entire family--including Dad when he could get home; he made it in time for the end of "Lord of the Beans." Mom sat cuddling Melody and Harmony, handing Melody over to Dad when he got there. Alipang sat cuddling Chilena--AND performing the character voices as promised, with some participation by Chilena. Chilena, however, was content for much of the time simply to lean back in Alipang's arms, her head on his shoulder, and soak up the reassurance of his NOT being dead or maimed.

Chilena closed her eyes still with her head on his shoulder " Al I'm glad you home," she told him, snuggling up to him.

"Anyplace you and I are together," Alipang replied in Tagalog, "the family's at home." Then he resumed being both Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato.

OOC: Hannah honey, we established before now that Chilena speaks Tagalog. We need to know if she simply learned this by being in the Philippines in the neighborhood of 2002 with her then-missionary parents, or if (less likely) there was another way she learned it.

When the botanical prophet "Jonah" was at sea with The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, Alipang kissed Chilena's cheek and whispered (again in Tagalog), "This is a good point to show the babies you really love them."

He didn't need to say more than that, because in happier moods Chilena had more than once joined in the stunt that was impending. A scene came up in the film where the "Pirates" rolled across the deck...and right then, disengaging their embrace for the moment, Chilena and then Alipang rolled across the floor toward where their parents held the smaller girls, crying, "Ambush hug!" Alipang took Harmony from Mom to hug (because she weighed less), while Chilena took Melody from Dad to hug and kiss. This done, the older two rolled back (Alipang moving slower both ways, for obvious reasons) to their previous location and their previous cuddling.

Chilena gentlely got on Al's lap still holding her little sister in her arms " Al after this when the two are sleep can we talk to Mum and papa?," she asked, with a frown.

"Yes, we can," Alipang assured her in Tagalog, happy to see that the sensitive little Harmony had followed Chilena over here after the "Ambush Hug," seeming to show that all was well between sisters. He didn't mind the weight of both of them on his lap; at uninjured times, he had let all three sisters sit on him in a stack, one instance of which was memorialized in a family photo album.

Later, when Melody and Harmony were asleep, Alipang took the initiative to request a conference with their parents. He sat by Mom and Chilena by Dad.

"Okay, Mom, Dad, you know Chil-Chil's had a lot to worry about this first week of school--which seems to include Dan's Dad not being _nearly_ as understanding as _you_ are, Dad. But since you folks _are_ understanding spirits, and since _both_ Chil-Chil and I know we couldn't have asked for _better_ parents to raise us....we thought we could go ahead and count on you to be understanding if she brings up the _extra_ thing that's been eating at her."

He gave Chilena an encouraging nod.

" Mum dad I was wondering who my real family are," she told them, not looking up at them " I-I love you dearly but I want to know who my other family are," she told him, still not looking up at them tears form starting to roll down her cheeks.

Eric and Cecilia exchanged a glance of their own. "Sweetheart," said the father, "that's normal. We had wondered why you didn't bring it up SOONER. Melody has already shown curiosity about her birth parents, and she has NO memory of them, while you of course do have some...."

OOC: Hannah, sweets, you are going to have to get with me to discuss WHAT sort of history you want to emerge here.
