Summer grinned. "Thanks. But I'm fine. Just coughing a lot. I've been in bed for two days. I'm not about to get back in anytime soon. I'll talk to you later."

Alipang took back the phone. "Anyway, Sis, you can pray for her. And I'm moving her one place farther from other customers..." When he had helped Summer to change seats, and had given a fresh glance to Grant and to the customer family, he asked Chilena, "Now, what did you call me about to begin with?"

" I'm was tell you that I'm coming to help you and to remind you that tomorrow you told me that you where help me find a car for my birthday," she told him.

OOC: Hannah, were you thinking that Alipang already has his driver's license? He doesn't have it yet, though he expects to earn it before the year ends. Remember, he's two months younger than you.

========================================

Alipang finished up with the needs of the seated family; fortunately, they were long-time customers, and familiar with the atmosphere of helping the needy which pervaded the Imadas' establishment.

========================================

OOC: Josh-Jester seems to have left us; let us assume, unless told otherwise, that Grant spoke normally to Alipang and had something to eat.

Once all necessary words had been exchanged, Alipang begged off and turned his attention back to his customers. A truck driver was just coming in to eat, so Alipang greeted him and got him settled.

But he spent as much time and attention as he could on Summer. He didn't like the impression of weakness she gave. While he did not feel romantic desire for Summer, her current condition roused his deep-rooted instinct to help and protect people in distress.

Well, what's one more needy soul? Alipang gathered Chilena in his arms, kissed her, and asked, "What's the matter, Sis?" The "Sis" was uttered loudly for the newest customer's benefit.

"My bad," he said, trying to sound casual, adding more quietly, "Just getting conditioned to expect sad and worried people. Excuse me, sweets, I need to serve the new guy, AND look after Summer. You see how weak she looks?"

The truck driver asked if they had burritos. Alipang explained that Filipino cuisine was not quite the same as Mexican, and persuaded the man to try some assorted lumpia. He just had that man's order turned in when another family group entered.

"The new family; secondarily, watch out for Summer. Maria has the rest covered. But when Summer's ready to leave, if she won't accept a ride, we'll have to see if I can be spared to walk her home."

" OK I'll help out the next table," she told him, walking to the table taking out her note pad " Hi I'm Chilena and I be your waitress for today can I get you something to drink?," she asked, with a smile.

The new arrivals proved to be as uneducated in Filipino cooking as the trucker, needing things explained.

Alipang, meanwhile, anxiously watched his friend Summer eating.
