Cecilia came to her daughter's call--but was NOT going to be wheedled into letting Chilena leave the house.

Once aware that he had an opponent worth mentioning, Leopard Man was faster than Summer thought. Somehow, from where he was, he threw his body against the girl's legs, bringing her down again...and suddenly he had both of her wrists trapped in a grip her hands had no chance of breaking.

Summer looked at him and smiled. Then brought her knee up between his legs.

"Yeah? Well don't worry, we've got a great class to sleep through. *Cough* english *cough*. " He smiled.

"I can't sleep through classes. I would love to. But I tried it once and the teacher caught me... not a good story..." Jen coughed, and closed her locker.

"You know, what we could do, is draw another pair of eyes on your eyelids. It may look creepy, but that'll just keep the teacher from looking at you.."

Still holding onto Jen's hand. They both walked into English and sat down. Brendan ripped a piece of paper, and wrote Will this pass as a note? = ] and very conspicuosly handed it to Jen.

Every girl thinks this will always work. It had worked on Leopard Man....once. He had not forgotten that time, back when he had been only thirteen. Four years later, he had his chance to prove he was ready and expecting it.

His body twisted enough to thwart the predictable attack (predictable to any streetfighter), and then a thunderbolt with knuckles sent Summer into.....

...the school nurse's office. Miss Pendergrass, the nurse, had a cold compress on Summer's forehead.

"You gave him a good fight, kid," said Miss Pendergrass, "but the fact is, most girls _aren't_ Xena. It could have gone very badly for you if Mr. Kramer hadn't gotten back there. Actually, that wasn't the only help you got. Someone tackled Edward as he was strangling you--yes, that's why your neck hurts--and though he got knocked down, he bought you time. Now Edward _and_ his broken arm are expelled from school, and being introduced to county juvenile detention.

"Almost forgot to tell you who helped you first: little Sammy Ashford! He told Mr. Kramer he was just doing what Alipang would have done if he'd seen it."

Mr. Kramer joined them, looking shamefaced.

"I'm so sorry, Summer! I should have looked around more carefully before I went away with the other two."

"Not a problem Mr. Kramer." Summer said smiling. "The important thing is that everybody is ok. Everyone is ok? Aren't they? Miss Pendergrass said someone tackled him. Are they ok?" Summer asked.

"That would be kind of scary. I would come home and be blinking, but no one would know..." Jen shuddered. She read the note and wrote back,

Well you are passing it to me when the teacher isn't paying attention. So yes, it is a note.

Ok I wasn't sure if it qualified. I was just making you approved = P

Jen blushed.

A note is a note. It's on paper, it was passed to me. I don't have high expectations for peices of paper with writing on it.

Maybe not, but I have expectations for myself. and that includes meeting yours = P Got any plans tonight?

Nope. Except homework. And I really hope we don't have a lot. Which I'm kind of expecting we won't. We have a sub in geometry today, so.... I'm good to go. =]
